Loved this spot! We did a photo shoot here and it was beautiful. Area has many beautiful roses to look at along with other greenery. Super nice spot for a walk around the area or even a picnic. I love that all those who passed were respectful of all the area and to others who were there to decompress to themselves or with their dogs!

A small, but cute hidden gem in Fremont. Away from the city and full of space! Roses aren't in the best shape, but they are still beautiful! Plenty of shade and picnic tables! And a close by bathroom!!

ENTRY IS FREE! PARKING IS FREE! DIRECTION: ========= Please Look for the intersection of Niles Blvd. and Nursery Avenue. There is a big welcome sign of CALIFORNIA NURSERY HISTORICAL PARK. The Niles Rose Garden is in the California Nursery Historical Park. NOTE: Do not get lost by mobile mapping apps. Frankly speaking, I got lost. LOL. EXPERIENCE : =========== First of all, There is no comparison between San Jose Rose garden and Niles Rose garden. Both has its own beauty. It was my first visit at Niles rose garden, but certainly not my last. Initially I was so surprised to see that there is no one in the Rose garden other then me. I would definitely say that this park is hidden gem and one should definitely visit. The Niles rose garden is a very nice little rose garden with a great variety of roses. When you enter in the park first thing you feel is the fragrance of Roses. It's so beautiful. The garden has nice paths to walk, benches for seating, open lawn area, cactus arrangement, long trees, small bridge. This garden has nice combination different themed gardens like a habitat garden, a Japanese style garden and a succulent garden. I saw lots of Squirrels playing around. The main attraction for me is a cute little windmill In the middle of garden. I enjoyed taking pictures of it and it is a great selfie spot too. RECOMMENDATION : ================ Currently there is some construction work going on so be careful for the parking. The construction staff is very helpful if you ask them they will guide you correctly for where to park your car. They helped me in my last visit. Overall, it was a good experience visiting this place. I found my new place to take beautiful photos. I have attached some of them here. Hope the construction will complete soon so more people can come to enjoy this place.

Not much to see here. Short stroll. Much better location. Was construction going around when I was there.

Nothing special. The rose garden was too small. I was disappointed.

Five stars because it costs no yen…read more As far as Japanese gardens go, this one is my least favorite because it is rectangular, with a visible metal fence perimeter, with ugly trash and graffiti visible from across the creek and no opportunities to feed the koi fish. Three things, though, that make it special is that they have memorial plaques, stray cats, and blowtorched wood for an aged and weather-resistant finish. From 1913-1962, the site was a practice site for farming and raising livestock for Hayward Union High. It became a garden by the late 1970s, and when dedicated in 1980, focusing on botany (with plants donated by local Japanese-American nurseries) rather than religion. Every first Saturday at 1pm there's a free lecture/tour. It's not especially beautiful or big (3.5 acres) or exciting (the few people I saw there were on their phones), but it's a peaceful, clean area. I think informational displays could help people enjoy it more. Or phone chargers. Information like, many of the wooden connections (including the main entry gate) have notches instead of notches to fit together like puzzle pieces. This more authentic approach prevents rust. Or, the garden uses the Shakkei technique: when you can stand at the highest point, the surrounding trees are meant to look like distant mountains, with specific plants blended with the Japanese maples and native Oaks to make the garden feel ten timers larger than its actual 3.5 acres. Or, the hand-selected granite boulders from the Sierra Nevadas are buried one-third into the ground so it looks like they are growing, which is why I don't manicure myself often. .

I did not know this place existed until my partner found this and brought his family here…read more It's a nice, serene and scenic short walk with plenty of nice photo spots and benches to sit and take in the greenery. I loved seeing all the koi, bansai and various plants they had in the area. It is well worth a visit to come check it out!

This review is for the IRIS GARDEN AT DRY CREEK GARDENS (DRY CREEK PIONEER REGIONAL PARK) in UNION…read moreCITY, located at 500 MAY ROAD. Note the Iris Garden is only open during very specific times of year. I believe the Iris Garden is a subset of gardens in the Dry Creek area. For 2026, their web site ( www dot ebparks dot org slash parks slash dry-creek-pioneer ) says the Iris Garden is open "from April 23 to May 15, 2026, Thursdays through Sundays, from 10am to 4pm" We loved our visit to this garden! So many flowers, all kinds of flowers, not just irises, succulents, too, so much color, lots of bees to watch, a few butterflies, birdhouses with birds chirping in them and flying in and out, tables and chairs available so bring a snack or lunch. I saw the main person who maintains the gardens talking with some visitors who had questions. Parking was plentiful (our visit was on a Sunday afternoon), there's a single restroom near the parking lot, walk up the hill's dirt path, and you'll see the fenced garden above. There are chairs outside the gate and a few parking spaces. There was a lady in a wheelchair visiting the garden, so the garden seems accessible. We saw a few cows on the hill above the garden and bees were rolling around in the orange poppy flowers. We saw some woodpeckers on a pole next to the walk up/down the hill.

I love this garden so much and come here often during the spring and summer time. I love it so much…read moreI tried to reserve the space here for a baby shower and turns out they don't allow reservations in the garden at all. What a bummer! You would think since there are tables and space that they would allow reservations, it would also be very lucrative! Very disappointing in that sense, but hopefully in the future it changes because it truly is a beautiful and magical spot.

Thus, parking was plentiful on a Saturday late afternoon. The tiny oasis is part of Habitat Horticulture (founded by David Brenner), which crafts imaginative botanical installations and living walls. Projects include and can be found at SF MOMA, California Academy of Sciences, Tesla Factory, and many cafes and community centers beyond the bay area. Tranquil, aesthetically pleasing, and free to visit, it's worth spending a few moments exploring the scenery, or simply sitting on one of the two benches on site and taking in some fresh air. Though nothing too fancy, there are many elements to this place that can be appreciated, even a sculpture displaying the words "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me."

It is a beautiful quiet spot to reflect on your thoughts with living walls of plants that are so impressive. You may want to investigate how to do this yourself, but please respect the garden and stay on the sidewalk to protect it from being damaged. Moral of the story is to always take time to smell the flowers and enjoy the moment. Worth a visit when you have a moment.
