Irvington Community Park is a decent park with a really big grass area and plenty of open space. They also have a sports complex area that can be rented, and a lot of people come here for games or other activities. There's also a basketball court and a community center, which makes the park useful for different kinds of events. The playground area is decent, especially for kids. I noticed the padding looks like it was recently redone, which is nice. The play area has a little wall climber, slide, pole, and stairs. I do think the wood around the slide area could use some updating because it looks kind of old, and the slides seem extremely high, which I think should be changed or made safer. The bathrooms are currently being redone, so that's good to see. Overall, it's a decent park with good space and activities for families. read more

This is a nice local park to go to. I happen to not come here for a long time even though that it's very close to where I live. The park has improved over the years since they added bleachers at the parking lot as well as renovating the playgrounds. It's not really a big park but it's convenient for those who live really close to it. They have a building called Irvington Community Center, which I think is a place for children's activities. There is another building which is small. I think it was supposed to be a library, but is recently closed. Right next to it is the ballot drop box, where I usually go to drop my ballot envelope. Nothing much changed overall but it's good to reminisce the memories I have going here when I was a kid. read more

This is a nice community center with a great recently renovated playground. It has a full length basketball court, football/soccer field, large grassy fields, picnic tables. Bathrooms are currently open, though water fountains are not on. There are two playground areas adjacent to each other. The big kid structure has two tall towers that are fun for make-believe play. The smaller toddler structure also has a lot of musical instrument toys including a colorful xylophone, drums, etc. The entire playground has that soft squishy padding, no tan bark or sand. Wish that we lived closer to this place. Decided to go to Fremont to try a Shanghai-nese restaurant and since we had my toddler in tow, to stop off by a playground first. We could have definitely spent more time here! There are two play structures - one for toddlers and one for bigger kids, al to Pugh the toddler structure felt more appropriate for like 5 year olds because the stones were a bit bigger, but it worked out great for my toddler. There is only one set of stairs on the smaller kid structure, so your kiddo is forced to negotiate with others (yay socialization opportunities!). Love that there is a xylophone musical structure that is calming and fun for kids. The bigger kid structure looked really fun with an epically long slide. I also like that it was located downhill, so there is more work/obstacle for bigger kids to head over to the smaller kid structure. A couple sets of toddler swings (4). Irvington Community Park is near the Community center and the Irvington Library. They have a recently renovated play area, basketball court, baseball, football/soccer fields. It's really a nice park for toddlers; at the same time the other fields are quite useful for the bigger kids and teenagers. Recent changes they have done to the play are quite nice, especially the musical instruments - kids are gonna love it. The floor is padded with the rubber like squishy material for safety as well. You may need permits to use the fields. The soccer/football field is artificial turf, but the baseball field is grass. There are designated areas where people can watch the games going on. I always found this park clean. There are bathrooms near by as well. Parking is no big deal, plenty available near to the community center or by library. Great little park around us for our kids. There's two play areas for big kids and smaller kids. My kids enjoyed the slides in the bigger kids play structure. i like this playground. My child and I have been checking out the area for a good, clean and well-shaded playground with a few kids to meet. (my child could use some socialization). This one has parking space, very easy to find, clean and got nice slides. We usually go to the playground noon or early afternoon so it can get warm. This park is my new favorite place. I actually live a 5 minute walk from lake Elizabeth and I refuse to go there now because of the crowd, the lake with no fencing, and the bird poop scattered everywhere. This park has two play structures and the larger one is mostly in the SHADE so you can come here and not worry about all the sun shining down on the little ones while they play. Plus it's fairly empty even on the weekend which makes it less dangerous for the little ones. There are a total of 6 swings here with 4 being bucket seats, lots of picnic tables, a basketball court, a grassy area surrounding the play area so we can watch them, and a large field to run in. A great park that has a little something for everyone! I used to go to this community park to play basketball, tag, all the kids activities. It is pretty clean and safe and a lot of families go there to walk around and let their kids play. There are also a lot of pokemon go gym and stops that you can get so it is a good park. Only downside about this park is that some of the bigger kids from a nearby school finds their way here and bullies the little ones. Watch out for them! read more

Sometimes, I think about things. This park is about a mile's tread from my residence. Living in the suburbs, you'd think that your park options would be plentiful-- but nope, you've just one in each district. Still, Irvington not one to complain about (as opposed to Central Park). It is greener, more peaceful, and free of geese (and doggie) droppings. Some of my favorite pastimes took place here, as did my childhood shadows (nostalgia and introspection). It was best on rainy days during my way home from Wilson's. I'd sit on the swings and soak my long hair in the tears sent from the clouds and think. Just think. About the world, about people, sometimes about ideas. "What marks our time here?" I'd contemplate our lives and the options we have, the decisions we make. Other times, I'll lay in the grassy fields and stare up to make my mind as clear as the lucid blue skies. We're in the presence of a (true) gift from the gods. The only downside is that we've got the occasional hoodlum children. I've heard stories about muggings and assaults, but have yet to have a bad experience firsthand. Be careful. Bring a knife or two as you gaze over the sunset from the highest point of the swings. Don't lug your Louis Vuitton luggage set around or flash your diamond necklace after dusk (I warned you!). But never mind that. On a weekday afternoon, there will be local high schoolers. On weekends, there will be little children prancing around on the playgrounds. Watch them. Kidnap them if that's what you're into. Come on a rainy day to get inside your head, or even out. The hoodlums will be hitting their cozy sheets while you settle in your new place of solitude. Irvington Community Park is a great park. We've hosted our end of season parties at Irvington Community Park and the kids have always enjoyed playing on the playground. The layout is spacious. My favorite park when take my nephew and son to play basketball. This park is near a little out-of-the-way from our home but is convenient when we want to go out for food afterward. While the guys are playing basketball, I usually go for a nice walk around the park. It was a nice way to enjoy a great day! The park itself has great facilities for the use of the patrons. There is a great community center with a nice gym, a good walking path, restrooms at the gym and outdoors, picnic tables, shade trees, and a soccer arena. Parking was great in the lot and on the nearby streets. There seems to be a good number of families there on a warm, and sunny, Sunday having a nice picnic! What is great is the many food options nearby for my guys afterwards - from tacos to burgers (their favorite). A block away is a convenience store and gas station for cold drinks - great way to get something cold on a nice, and warm, day! The only wish was that it was located closer to my home but it is still convenient for us overall. read more

I absolutely think that you should visit this park because you won't be so afraid of getting green duck poo stuck to the bottom of your shoes like how Lake Elizabeth does when you go there. I love animals, but the ducks go wild at Lake Elizabeth. I recently moved from the Mission district into the Irvington district. So when I was looking for a closeby park to take my puppy out on walks, I found this cute community park. It's right across from Irvington High School, so it is pretty hard to miss. My puppy and I looveee frolicking in the green grass, which is used as a softball field. They also have a pretty huge soccer field, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, and also multiple kids playgrounds. This park is clean, well-kept, and kid friendly! I approve. read more

Awesome park! The playground is really cool... there's a separate playground for younger kids, but the way the entire playground is set up, you can easily keep an eye on more than one kid at a time at both playgrounds. The bigger playground has really cool slides. There are two big ones. Both are easy to get to, but my only complaint is there are no ways for you to access the biggest slide if your kid somehow gets stuck or you need to get up there for any reason. The structure is very safe because there are walls that prevent falls, but there's no other climbing access. Despite that, this park is plenty big to accommodate a large number of kids, big and small. There's plenty of parking in the lot, and there are restrooms pretty close to the playground. There are also restrooms right inside the community center, so you can use those if they're open. Totally love this park and will definitely be back! read more

We come here pretty often to take our daughter to play. Two play structures, one for toddlers and the other for older kids. My daughter plays I'm both areas. The park is pretty clean as can be expected. The older kids tend to overrun the older kid structure to the point where I get worried for my daughter's safety so we try to go at the less busier hours. Saturdays seem to be pretty busy with football games and sports going on. read more

Such a great place! Well, what makes this so great is the availability of a number of facilities for kids of all ages! They have 2 playgrounds- one more appropriate for kids under 5 and the other for kids above 5; and what makes these two play grounds so awesome is that they're so close to each other that watching over kids in both will be no problem at all. but there's more to this place! it has a wonderful community center that has an indoor basket ball court and also rooms that can be used for all sorts of activities. They also give all kinds of classes for the kids-- be it in sports or music. They also have a library- and the library too has all kinds of activities and art classes which kids would surely love. The place has a lot of trees and picnic facilities for families to come together and enjoy. Weekends can be very full though, but great nonetheless. read more

I like to take my kids to different parks around town, this would be their second favorite spot, after Always Dream Play Park along Stevenson. I like the multi-level park separating the little kids from the older ones. My bf and I have to tag team, as we part to watch both our sons, but this park is honestly pretty safe. There are tons of family picnics going on, as well as local soccer/football practices and games. Irvington tends to be favored for us due to the really shaded area. Tons of shade, and also a plus of having lots of open green grass near by as well as the basketball court directly next to the playground. read more

This park has character and history! It has beautiful castle-like wooden structures. Great for the imagination! Play structure: Classic, mix of wood and steel. Castle-like design. LONG tube slides that are FUN for the kids. Two separate structures for big and little kids. Ground material: Rubber cushion flooring. Unique aspects: Charming castle like towers. Huge tube slides. A ladder you can climb up and ring a large bell - fun! Restrooms: Can't remember...but I think so Grass: Plenty! Great for running around, playing a game, lying on grass for a picnic. Picnic Tables: Yes, I think so. Shade: Great! Some nice shade over the play structure too. Parking: Parking lot and street parking. Plenty. Safety: in a very good area of Fremont. Rarely any shady looking people, sometimes your wanna-be thug basketball player on the courts but they mind their own business. Final Comment: We love this park. Came out here Monday after seeing photos and reviews for the park. When I pulled into the parking lot there were several suspicious cars parked, with what it seemed people that lived in the car. Then later a dilapidated bus dropped people off at the park to eat lunch and loiter and use the restrooms. It seems vagrants use the bathroom. The park itself was very grimey and dirty. I will not be returning back. It didn't feel like a safe enviroment I'd ever want my wife to go alone with my son. read more

Went there at 11:45 on a weekday and was happy to see a handful of young kids and parents there. Around 12:15, some high school kids from across the street came and posted up in a couple different places on the jungle gym, including laying across & blocking the bridge. Not a big deal, but then they were cursing and making sexual references. Maybe avoid this place M-F lunchtime, unless you want to confront some teenagers. Other than that, there's lots of shade, a basketball court, a climbing wall, 2 kids' structures, and restrooms. I'd go back. read more

I like this place because I can go anywhere and go play on the slides and on the swings. It takes 7 minutes to ride the bike.

i didn't know about this park until i stopped by at the irvington library last month. at that time, they were still putting the final touches on the new playground structures. this time in fremont, i did a drive-by and noticed the fencing was gone... so off we went to explore. my little kids love it! they have two play grounds - one for 2-5 yr olds, the other for 5-12 yr olds, separated by swings and these cute little bugs you can sit on. it's a nice little playground, although it does get busy as the morning progresses. other pluses: no sand or tanbark, so no worries of stuff in your shoes when you play. they have parking, a restroom, picnic tables, grassy area, basketball courts, library (although it is only opened on wednesdays), and community center right there, too. read more

I love this little park! It's always clean and my little one loves to play here. All the times that I have gone it hasn't been crowded and the park is age appropriate. The restrooms are always clean which is AWESOME! And it's well shaded so the equipment doesn't get hot. read more
