The food is always delicious there. The restaurant is a huge space and very clean. The waitress was very polite and when she was around, she was great, but we were the only table in the restaurant and we were a large party of 15. She never checked in on us. We had to find her and ask for refills. We had to Find her and remind her we asked for lemon. She was polite and nice, but she needs to check on her tables more. It's been a while since I have gone to a Karl Strauss... and jt was good but it was. It the best bang for your buck... The place is nice, seating inside and out, rustic brewery vibes and it's comfortable. Our service was pretty fantastic... our hostess was sweet, good with suggestions , consistently checking in and when she went on her break made sure we knew who was covering. I was in a stout mood... so I got the new better buzz stout... it was good but it really felt like a light dark ale... my wife got chai me a river and that was pretty good. We first went for the duck fat pretzel bites which were pretty dang good. I likes that they brought out a good amount too. We then got the mixed organic salad which was ok... but not the best. For dinner we got the brewers steak, the sauce was good but you like these steak bites.. or "tips" the don't good them to temp it I wanted to try the stout sauce. Unfortunately it was ok... my wife and have made a stout steak pot pie and it outdoes this dish. We then finished off with the stout tiramisu... again it was ok.. most likely pre prepared and frozen. I know chains do this but idk it's not that hard to make a tiramisu but I ended up finishing it up. Overall it was a good night out, there are some good notes, the arcade was fun but I think the duck fat pretzel bites took the cake for us on this one and the chia me a river. read more

Met the guys at the tent during Taste of Corona. They hyped up their Sunday brunch. So we made reservations for brunch today. After a wait at the hostess stand and a while after we were seated they told us they weren't doing brunch today. They could've informed us somewhere on the website or when reservations were made. Karl Strauss is overall mids to me because the food ranges from mediocre to not great. However, it's nice to have a place to just sit and chill. The best item here is probably the Mac and cheese, which I will say is actually pretty tasty. I've tried the burgers, carne asada fries and a couple other items that just aren't stand out. The carne asada is served with like a nacho cheese sauce???? Which is confusing, salty, and strange. To top it off, when we requested salsa, the waitress told us they don't offer salsa, only the standard bottled hot sauce -- to which we asked what the tacos are served with? Her answer was , "it's not really a salsa, it's like a tomato paste" o____o That's the biggest sign that something is not right and food needs to be elevated. These are dishes that typically go with a salsa, and if the condiment to pair with it is more of a tomato paste, something is not right!!!! That's salsa, just obviously not great salsa. Haha. I also think that the outdoor seating area could benefit from either TV or perhaps more activities. Everything of that nature is inside and they only really have cornhole. For such a large space, they really have room to do much more. Also, as such an established brewery, having little more than an arcade would make things more exciting. read more

We were visiting the area and looking for some dinner. I came across the Karl Strauss menu and really wanted to enjoy the Chop Shop Salad, it sounded so good! We walked in and were greeted and sat immediately. I ordered the salad, my friend had the Mac & cheese and a burger. We shred the Mac and cheese and took the rest back to our room to enjoy the next day. The Mac and cheese was the star of dinner! My salad was good but not as good as I made it out to be in my head. My family and I celebrated my birthday here, and I enjoyed our first time at Karl Strauss. It was kind of busy for a Monday night though we didn't have to wait to get a table. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and prompt to serve. I even got free beer for my birthday! It's cool they give free samples of beer to help us decide what to get and not get stuck drinking something we don't like. I absolutely love their Golden Ale. That's now my favorite ale. My older daughter got the cheese burger which she liked a lot. She said it was juicy and flavorful. My younger one got the butter pasta dish from the kids menu, and she thought it was mid because it was bland for her. We usually love ordering the beer pretzel here--it's always served with the most amazing mustard sauce, and it's one of our go-tos. Unfortunately, this time the pretzel wasn't fully cooked through, which we only realized halfway in. Tonight when my daughter and I got seated at Karl Strauss, we were greeted by Kurt. Right away he was friendly, upbeat, and pointed out the drink menu. He cracked a few jokes, kept things natural, and you can just tell he genuinely enjoys customer service--he has a real knack for it. I couldn't decide on a beer, so he offered a few samples. When I felt like I was being a nuisance after trying three, he actually added two more of his own personal recommendations. It made the experience so much more fun. I ended up trying Windansea, Tower X West Coast, Hard Cherry, Karlitos Mexican Lager, and the Peanut Butter Cup. All the flavors were great, and even though the exotic ones were delicious for a taste, I stuck with something more traditional and went with the Tower X West Coast. The poke nachos were amazing, and my daughter loved the butter noodles. Kurt checked on us at the perfect times--quick, thoughtful, and full of personality. Honestly, he gets 5 stars from us. Food was great, service was not. The server greeted us and brought our drinks quickly, but it was downhill from there. We ordered the shrimp tostada appetizer to share, which took forever to come out. When the server finally brought it, she just walked away without taking our entree order. So we finished the appetizer (it was delicious, BTW) and just sat there for at least 10 minutes until a different server came to check on us. We told her we still hadn't placed our entree order - she apologized and took the order for us. While we were waiting for our food, the original server walked past several times and didn't even glance our way (maybe she wasn't our server after all and was just covering breaks? we'll never know since she didn't introduce herself). After some time, a third server walks up and asks how everything is going. We tell her we've been waiting for our food for a while. She was very apologetic and said she would go check on it for us. She came back immediately with our plates, which made me think the food had been done for a while and was just waiting for someone to care. My hunch was confirmed as soon as I took a bite; it wasn't hot anymore. We ordered the grilled chicken tacos - despite the fact that they had obviously been sitting for a while, the flavor was great and I would order them again. Eventually server #2 stopped by again and we were able to get the check and be on our way. Luckily they have the devices where you just swipe your card at the table, so we didn't risk a long wait for them to come back with the check. I made reservations at Karl Strauss in Corona for my grandma's 82nd birthday. When booking, I added a note that all she really wanted was a dinner with a view of the water. You never know if those notes actually get noticed--but I figured it was worth a try. From the moment we arrived, Brett (our host) made it happen. He immediately took us out to the patio and seated us at a table right by the window with the perfect water view--and even had a "Happy 82nd Birthday" message waiting on the table. Those thoughtful little touches truly go such a long way. Brett was amazing and deserves recognition for going above and beyond. This location is located in the Dos Lagos shopping center. It's a beautiful venue. This place is absolutely enormous inside and outside!!! Huge circular bar, tons of tables both inside and out. Great for company parties, reunions, birthday parties, celebration of life gatherings, lots of possibilities. We opted to sit outside. It was a hot day but super comfortable on the outdoor covered patio. We enjoyed a fantastic view overlooking the little lake. Ariyah was the perfect server!! Very attentive. Happy to answer questions, ran back and forth for additional sauces, boxes, whatever we needed she was right there and back, smiling the entire time. We had a large party of 8 and Ariyah was on top if it all and was happy to separate checks for us. My older daughter asked if she could order off the kids menu and got chicken tenders. My younger daughter and I got two Pub Burgers with fries. Quite generous portions (my M-I-L and I split an order and my younger daughter took half of hers home). Took some friends to this recently opened brewpub here in Corona, and the experience was just alright. Great location, just didn't deliver on the menu or ambiance super well. 2.5 rounded down overall. Food (2/5) - A complex and creative pub menu at a mid-level price with a great range of options. However, most of the food was just ok despite the eye catching names/ingredients lists. The pork filled mac was fine with portion and meat was flavorful but the roux seemed undercooked/chalky and rendered the whole dish very...dense. The food truck burger was pretty plain, maybe just was just lacking more sauce and cheese, fries pretty standard. Chipotle pastrami stole the show without much competition, was genuinely really good, vibrant and not overbearingly salty/chewy with great toppings paired. Last is a hot take - what is a korean bbq bowl without any beef options? ordered with the chicken and it was less than great, could in my opinion use more "fresh" taste with something like cucumbers. Was nice they offered a small tasting flight of beers on tap to pair with food, went with a few different house options which all were great. Service (4/5) - No mistakes or issues with the service other than it being a bit slow while it wasn't extremely busy. As mentioned above the server did recommend fantastic beer options (as hoped for a brewpub). Ambiance (2/5) - Poorly described, the restaurant feels/looks like a bleak cabin with cramped table arrangements. The atmosphere and setup of the space just felt lackluster but i will give them bonus points for the arcade. Personal take but an open kitchen already creates an "accountability/welcomeness" from customers to food prep relation but having an angled ceiling mirror to stare down at chefs like zoo animals in a cage is strange to me. read more
