This is a real hardware store. Without places like Karl's we will be up the creek without a paddle. Karl's generally has what I need. Occasionally I need some obscure things and they don't have it. That's to be expected at times. But when I need hardware like grade 5 & 8 bolts, stainless fasteners, pipe fittings, machinist's drill bits, electrical plugs, etc they have it ready to go. Located right next to Karl's hardware, they have a lot of equipment available for home and yard projects. Very reasonable prices too. Support our local merchants before you head to Lancaster or Palmdale for do-it-yourself rentals. read more

Like Karl's hardware, they are always helpful but not always very experienced with their recommendations and they are somewhat expensive and the parking lot is horrid to park, alot of times you are forced to park on the street when they are busy, they need a bigger parking lot for the amount of business they do but they are good in a pinch to get what you need, if I am not in a hurry for anything I would certainly choose another hardware store and not Karl's, plus I don't like the way they jump all over you to help when you walk in the door, sometimes I just like to browse around and look for the items on my own and this kind of service sometimes makes me want to avoid this store I would only recommend this store when you need something quickly read more

After an incident that happened last week I had to chill out and deliberate how I was going to address it and just decided to address it with this silly review on yelp instead of going in and throwing a hissy fit that probably wouldn't solve anything. I went into the rental side of the store because I needed a trailer hitch ball and some wood. I believe his name is Tom, very very white hair and beard with glasses on his head, was in his usual spot behind the counter. I said hello and received no response and thought that was odd. I walked over to the hitches and was looking at them and in my peripheral vision I see the other, older gentleman that always works in their also, I believe his name is James (not James from the gun room) and he is pushing something and I thought he was going to try to walk past me so I scooted forward. When I return to look at him he parks whatever it was he was rolling almost right next to me in a tight aisle and all in the meanwhile I see the other gentleman Tom all slick-rick-tricky-dicky-super-sleuth like creep into a little closet room that is to the left of me behind the aisle I was standing in. James walks up to me and in a very odd way places his hands with fingers interlocked in front of him resting on his stomach and in a very suspecting, rude, a-hole tone asks me "do you need help with something?" My first urge is to ask him why he is using that tone with me but I kept my cool and said no, I don't think so, I'm just looking at the hitches. He repeats in the same tone and takes a step forward "okay, dooo yoouu neeed heeelp with something?" I about lost it and almost told him "mother f*****r if you have a problem for some reason you best address it with me now." Again, I kept my cool because this guy and his little super sleuth friend hiding in the closet space have seen me, helped me and cashed me out on several occasions. I said "not sure if I want to buy a 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch ball because the two trailers I borrow to take my RZR to Covina for service have different sizes. In the same tone he responds "so you do need help." At this point I was ready to walk over to the room where slick-rick was hiding and listening to all this and ask them what their problem was because they both have helped me on several occasions. I have spent a lot of money there, in their side of the store, and the other. Again, I kept my cool and said "that's all I'm looking at." He then became normal James (I think that's his name) and explained to me when I am told 2 1/2 inches it's actually 2 5/16 and then he shows me a hitch with 3 different sized balls and stated this will cover 90% of trailers. He seemed a bit surprised when I grabbed the multi balls hitch and told him "I'll take this one." As we walk by the little closet space thing Tom (I believe that's his name) pops out and walks behind us like he wasn't hiding in their listening to the whole conversation. I then told him I needed four 2X4s and one 4X4. He rings me up and tells me I can pick up the wood out front. I pull my truck up to where the man who has the wood tells me too and I don't know if hey told him something but he is patronizing me and calling me sir in a tone that indicates he just wants me out of here. I've never met this guy. I get my wood and leave fuming with smoke coming out of my ears. I'm not sure what that was all about but they accomplished their task of insulting the s**t out of me. The only thing I could think of is because I have grown a very long goatee since COVID because I work out of my house they didn't recognize me. But, I'm not sure how many Mexicans there are in Rosamond with a sleeve of color sailor tattoos on one arm and black and grey military tattoos on the other. Even if they were suspicious because I looked more mexican than usual because of the goatee I dress more white than most white people and was wearing Oakley shorts, Oakley sunglasses, Salomon trail running shoes and a Vortex Optics T with a ginormous American flag in the back THAT THEIR GUN ROOM GAVE ME because I have bought an AR15, Ruger 10/22, Springfield XD9, Springfield XD 45, an acog optic and hundreds of rounds of ammo since moving to rosamond last summer. I spend a lot of money their, but I guess Tom and James don't want my business for reasons unbeknownst to me. I hope people read this and see those two and laugh at them. I will still shop there but felt I had to share this with yelp. The one star rating is only for the two slick-rick-tricky-dicky-super-sleuth knuckleheads in the rental shop. read more

It's a great place to go if you're in a pinch. The staff is great. Just too expensive, but what do you expect from a Mom & Pop shop. Hopefully, Lowe's & Home depot don't come into town, because Karl's will have to close their doors. read more

I love Karl's hardware. On my recent trip there, I was looking for a bathroom replacement light. I walked in the store and in less than a minute, a person working there asked me if I needed help, then took me directly to the light and fluorescent starter. Don who is in charge of Karls Hardware Gun Dept. is the absolute best! As a result I have purchased ALL of my guns at Karls Hardware. He is a kind,caring,professional kind of guy and "is" the backbone of Karls Hardware. If it wasn't for Don I wouldn't make the 45 min. drive into Rosamond. Rosamond is a tiny little area and having a GO TO place is so great. Karl's is that place. Of course all your average hardware needs are found here, but it has quirky home things too...candles, picnic supplies, flags, umbrellas, guns, dog bowls and leashes...I mean you name it...and if you can think of it, they have got it. Plumbing supplies, lumber and a nursery included here. And what's neat is if you see something in the catalog it can get ordered. If you order wood, they can deliver. if you need rentals, they got 'em. Steve Justice was certainly right calling it a gem...everyone in the area knows of Karl's...it isn't uncommon to run into your neighbor here as well. read more
