After 7 weeks of puppy kindergarten, my Captain can sit patiently while I spelled his name with his treats... This time!

Karma Dog Training is great for my Captain (Shih Tzu +Jack Russel Terrier). They don't require money up front so try out a class and see if you like it. I attended the puppy social classes and it's an hour, once a week for seven weeks. My pup can't get enough! It seems like Karma Dog rent a couple rooms in the Learning Light Foundation building which is a nonprofit community space for other holistic-learning experiences and classes. I was pretty confused coming into the building because there was so many doors leading somewhere else.. I guess I was expecting a Karma Dog establishment. The center also has a garden where my puppy can hang out and do his business when we are there early. Cassie and Olivia are currently the two trainers: well educated, confident, and super sweet! Every Sunday, they teach 1-2 lessons for the one hour with social breaks in between. This structure definitely gives the puppies time to get use to each other and play while teaching us, humans, to be able to handle our energetic to shy companions. Class subjects rotate through time so there's leniency to miss a class. They separate classes between dog's age and size. I really enjoy taking Captain to the classes for the dogs he gets to interact with and sharing helpful tips/stories of our pups.

Graduation day for Penny!! Thank you Cassie and Olivia.

This program is really helpful and the trainers know exactly what they are doing. They care about the puppies well being and are very patient. (So for those who have shy dogs, like mine was, this is the place for you!!) Words could not express how greatful I am to the two dog trainers Olivia and Cassie who helped my dog Penny get out of her shell. When she first started she was very, very shy and did not know how to play with other dogs. Most of the time she was alone while her classmates played together. Now after completing the course, she is more open and playful with other dogs. Mind you, she still is a little timid, but practice makes perfect. I would highly recommend coming here. 1. Your puppy will make friends 2. They take them even if they don't have all their shots 3. Well worth the money spent

We very nearly cancelled before our first class! As first time dog owners we had heard much about the perils facing puppies at a young age. Karma Dog counseled us on the benefits of early socialization and precautions they take to keep young pups safe, and made us comfortable that puppy school was the right choice. I am so glad they took the time to help us understand; we have the most sociable pup credit Karma dog training! The organizers and trainers (Cassie and Olivia) clearly take alot of care to protect young puppies and provide a safe area for them to interact; and that is much of what the training was for; socialization. A few training sessions thrown in each class were a really nice way to build a tool set for showing off a well trained pup! In my case I am afraid of dogs :) and the class allowed me to become better at judging the motivation of these other puppies, recognizing the boundaries of safe and healthy play and learning a few basic tools to regain calm with our puppy. Both Olivia and Cassandra have a very professionally warm way of communicating and with their help I was inspired with confidence! Their handling of the puppies class generates a very positive learning environment; and they provide resources to go at your own speed in training your puppy with handouts, videos and homework :) Whether the A student or the monstrously large puppy :) all are clearly welcomed on their own merits, and that creates a very non judgmental and safe environment for us all, puppies and owners alike. As a graduate of Puppy school we are excited to continue the work with obedience school...here we come!

I attended a free trial class at Karma Dog Training's Anaheim location and signed my puppy up immediately afterwards. I really like how the puppy kindergarten classes are set up in a way that allows for maximum socialization. They do 15 minutes off leash and 15 minutes on leash for an hour which means the puppies are off leash and playing for at least 30 minutes. This socialization component is what was most important for my puppy and it is hard to find dog training classes where you don't just sit there and get talked at. The training portion of this class involves a demonstration with one of the puppies (probably yours at least once) and then you practicing while the trainers go around and help your perfect your technique and get your puppy learning. Each class concludes with a short sitting break where you teach your puppy how to calm down and not to resource guard. There is no empty just being 'talked at' time in this class at all and I really appreciate that! The trainers at this location, Olivia and Cassie, are very knowledgeable, happy, and full of energy. Just throughout the one puppy kindergarten class I was in I watched them facilitate healthy interactions for puppies that started off hiding in the corner or growling at other puppies. My own puppy was a barker and by using the methods Olivia and Cassie taught me to train him, he is now able to play quietly with other dogs! They're willing to work with their clients and puppies and never ever use harsh methods. This class is all about building and strengthening the puppy-owner bond with lots of treats! I highly recommend Karma Dog Training's puppy kindergarten series and Olivia and Cassie who teach at the Anaheim location! We plan to attend future courses with Karma Dog Training and now that my puppy has received his third set of vaccinations we are hoping to attend at an outdoor location. The Anaheim location is indoors and perfect for puppies that aren't completely vaccinated because the room and all guest shoes are parvo-disinfected before the class starts.

Dexter and some friends from class, all sitting nicely :)

I'd worked with two trainers, including a 3 week board-and-train program ($5,000 investment), followed every instruction, and practiced daily, yet I didn't see changes. I was managing the behavior without ever understanding what was causing it. That changed within the first two hours with Brad. He didn't start with commands or tools. Instead, he focused on the psychology behind Sunny's reactions: what was driving them, what was reinforcing them, and what I was unknowingly communicating. No one had ever explained it that clearly. That was the turning point. For the first time, I wasn't guessing or correcting blindly. I could see what Sunny was experiencing in real time and understand how my timing, energy, and responses were shaping his behavior. That clarity changed everything. Walks feel completely different now. Sunny is no longer pulls since my training with Brad, the reactive outbursts are gone, and the experience itself is calm. I'm no longer bracing for problems because I know how to prevent them. I am SO appreciative!

A couple of these weren't terribly serious, but we felt we weren't "in charge" anymore, that our dog wasn't getting the message from whatever we were doing, and that if we didn't do something different, it could really get out of control. Brad really helped us with this, where traditional "training" wasn't working. We have two or three things we're working on with our girl, but here is the most dramatic change we had with one issue. She is very food motivated, and would beg from us at the table whenever we sat down to eat, and would be underfoot in the kitchen during prep. She got overly excited and would not settle and lie down. Brad explained we weren't communicating well with her on a dog level, so to get that communication kicked in to gear, he actually started our session not with this problem, but with making sure she would not dash out the front door when it was opened. This was to establish that we were in charge and what was expected of her. What he showed us how to do worked like you wouldn't believe. It was like a light bulb went off for our girl. What we did affected everything after that. It wasn't about dashing out the door, it wasn't about begging for food, it was about knowing what was acceptable in our pack and to look to us for direction. That night, at dinner, she went to her "spot" with a simple direction and was relaxed during our entire meal. She can now be directed to her spot and will stay quietly any time we need her to. Best of all, she seems truly relieved that she doesn't have to be in charge and that WE are. She is much more relaxed around so many other things. It gave us so much more confidence! I didn't think that what Brad taught us would work. It's quite counterintuitive. But trust me, it worked like magic. This is not dog training - it's communication with your dog. Brad answers all your questions, doesn't waste your time, shows you clearly and directly what will work. We're so thankful we found him!

Watching Instagram and YouTube videos won't give you a well-behaved dog. Working with Vladae will!…read more We've been working with Vladae for about four months with our now six-and-a-half-month-old Golden Retriever, Coach, and it has been one of the best investments we've made. What sets Vladae apart is that he doesn't just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a lifelong relationship with them. Every lesson leaves us with practical tools, clear direction, and the confidence to continue the training every single day. Because of that, the progress doesn't stop when the session ends. Vladae has an incredible ability to understand dogs. Watching him read a dog's behavior, body language, and mindset is genuinely fascinating. He knows exactly how to communicate with each dog in a way they understand, and it's clear this comes from years of experience and a deep understanding of canine psychology. He's also one of the most invested professionals we've ever worked with. Throughout the week, he encourages us to send videos, provides thoughtful feedback almost immediately, and is always available to answer questions or jump on a call if we need guidance. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own. He truly cares about both the dogs and the people raising them, and he always follows through. Every recommendation Vladae has made, whether it's training tools, techniques, or daily routines, has become an essential part of Coach's development. We trusted the process from day one, and the results truly speak for themselves. (See the videos! Coach is only 6.5 months old in them.) Our puppy is happy, confident, well-mannered, and genuinely loves learning. We receive compliments on his behavior everywhere we go, and we owe so much of that to the foundation Vladae helped us build. We also had the opportunity to work with Erica, who trains alongside Vladae, and she was absolutely wonderful. One session with Erica is included in the program, and it was incredibly helpful. It's clear she shares the same passion, knowledge, and dedication that make this training program so special. Vladae brings unmatched energy, professionalism, and passion to every session. He genuinely wants every dog and every owner to succeed, and that level of commitment is incredibly rare to find. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and is committed to setting both you and your dog up for long-term success, I can't recommend Vladae highly enough. Coach has become an incredible puppy, and we're excited to continue into adult school because of the foundation he's helped us build. We're so grateful we found him!

During our initial phone consultation, Andi was incredibly honest and genuine. After learning more about our dogs, she felt that Kiki was the one who would benefit most from formal training and suggested that we could apply what we learned with Kiki to Coco as well. We really appreciated that she didn't try to upsell us on training for both dogs when she easily could have. That immediately showed us how much she genuinely cares about helping dogs and their families. At the time, Kiki was about six months old and was extremely reactive to just about everything in the outside world. We were looking for someone whose methods aligned with our values, and we loved Andi's positive reinforcement approach. Kiki completed Andi's six-week program, and the growth we've seen has been incredible. What sets Andi apart is that she isn't focused solely on teaching dogs tricks or obedience commands. She truly cares about each dog's emotional well-being and how they're feeling throughout the process. We learned so much--not just about Kiki, but about ourselves as dog owners. Andi helped us understand how our own behaviors and responses can shape our dogs, which was eye-opening and incredibly valuable. Of course, the work doesn't stop when the training sessions end. It takes consistency and ongoing practice at home, but Andi gave us the tools and confidence to continue building on Kiki's progress. The effort has been absolutely worth it. One of the best parts is that we were able to use many of the same training methods with our older Maltipoo, Coco, and she learned and benefited from them as well. Andi actively encouraged this, which we really appreciated. He was listening, he was following commands and seemed to be comprehending very well. It was because of the prong collar that was dugged into his neck whenever a command is given. Fast forward the two weeks...I was so excited to get him back and got instructions on how he was trained and to continue the training on my own. Now I don't have complaints on how they train, each person has their own technique however when I got my dog back with me alone, he was super anxious and scared. He wouldn't let me leave his side. Every time I got up he would get up too. Everywhere I went in the house he would follow. I get it because we've been apart for two weeks and he was afraid that I would leave him again. He really did not like the prong collar. He yelped one time when I took it off. It's not an easy collar to take off. I gave the prong collar a try for a few days and he listened but he was not the same happy dog that I was used to. He was withdrawn and did not let people approach him or touch him. He did not bark at all which was not him. He was also super skinny when I got him back, you can see his bones sticking out. They said he ate all the food I brought. I brought kibble, some home made food, treats and a new bag of fresh pet. I was told that he had completely finished all of his food. My dog doesn't eat a whole lot, so I was surprised that he had nothing left. I did not want anything back, I just know my dog doesn't eat that much and is very dry picky.l and hoped he was fed well. That part I'm not too sure on. When I got him back I did manage to weigh him and he was 4.6 lbs, he usually weighs about 5 1/2 lbs. He is now eating right and gaining his weight back but I still feel his bones. After a couple of days of using the prong collar I stopped putting it on him. He would lay where he was, very sad and distant. He didn't even want to play with my other dog, he just wanted to sit right by me when he had his collar. After leaving the collar off for several days now he has become a super happy and very playful puppy. He still obeys commands with treats of course. I don't think anything was wrong with the training my dog received. I think this place is for a dog who is a bit more mischievous and does not entirely listen. I also think it's more suitable for dogs of a larger size or breed or weight like my pit bull but she listens and is very mellow. I do appreciate the help that Hudson's Canine Kennels gave, unfortunately this did not work out for me or my dog.
