    Jerk chicken
    Andrew H.

I was in Charleston for work, and pleased to find a highly rated Carribbean/Jamaican spot nearby where I was staying. I'm happy to say it met the hype, the jerk chicken was juicy and the jerk sauce flavorful. I liked the rice, the texture was good and the sides were really good as well. I would definitely go back and at here if I have to come back at some point.

Chicken curry, Collard Greens and white rice

A while ago during the regatta, we stopped by Karubees tent. Yesterday after an appointment downtown, I stopped by the restaurant for lunch. I had the chicken curry, white rice and collard greens---when I tell you this was one of the top five things I've ever eaten, I am not joking! The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful, the collard greens were, in my opinion, the BEST I have ever had in my life, and the rice was the perfect connection between the two! The staff was so incredibly kind, and the restaurant itself was very cute! But back to the food--it was brought out so fast! The size of the portions was intimidating, but let me tell you I wanted to scrape every grain of curry and collard green soaked rice off the plate!! I only got one picture of the dish because once that smell was inhaled, I absolutely started salivating! If you want an AMAZING lunch with excellent service at a decent price ($17 with a bottle of water), I highly recommend Karubees!!!

The food had an amazing flavor with the best customer service. They won't tell you what is good so don't waste your time asking

It was just ok. Shrimp was flavorful. Only 5 shrim for 25$? Service was not great. Portion was small for the price. Plantains we're not sweet.

Let me just start off by saying this is probably some of the most flavorful food I've had in a very long time. The jerk chicken was amazing (very spicy), collard greens smacked, and the rice and peas.... DELICIOUS. 2nd time here I got the jerk shrimp. Super good as well! Not as spicy as the jerk chicken.

    Ox tail and goat curry.

I am here eating right now. This is legit some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. I am traveling for business and was surprised to see this hidden gem near the downtown. I ordered the ox tail and curry goat combat. Maybe the best ox tail I have ever had. I sure hope the people of Charleston realize what they have here with this place and support it. I look forward to returning.

I had red snapper, collard greens and fried plantains I enjoyed the novelty of eating goods I have never tasted before.

Jamaican food is interesting. I liked the bright colors in the restaurant featuring the Jamaican flag. The service was very hospitable.

We really like Karaubees and love the new location. Food is delicious and spicy, my favorites are the jerk chicken, oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains.

Authentic Caribbean good with chicken so tender it falls off the bone. And the beans and rice are the epitome of comfort food.

It was a little dark in here, but I feel like a lot of steakhouses are dark inside. They were also playing music the whole time. Our server was nice and friendly. The second we were seated, the waitress brought us bread and butter. For the appetizer we got Cheese Fondue. That was really good. There was a good variety of items to dip in the hot cheese. We ordered Filet Mignon with loaded baked potato and salad. It was really good. The sauce on top of the steak had a good flavor. We also had the Ribeye with baked potato and salad. The Ribeye was fine. Our one complaint was that the salad came out at the same time as the cheese fondue. The steaks came out not long later. This made everything really rushed. Usually even if you order everything at the same time, they at least have some space between each course. They also had a lot of good dessert options but we were full and tired so in the end we didn't order any dessert. I recommend The Grill on Third. It was a good night.

I could see his alfredo noodle quality did not have an appetizing look. It appeared Alfredo was microwaved, cheap or old noodles it lacked luster. I ordered Chicken Parmesan its breading was burnt and set off a burnt taste, the fried part burnt was covered up with cheese not visible at first sight. When moving cheese away from chicken the burnt taste was visible. My side was "steam" veggies, it too was not as expected filled with butter. Worst part of day it was our 20th anniversary and we decided to do lunch and visit the restaurant for first time. So disappointing. Not sure what happened in their kitchen when only having one customer. The management offered to replace meal but how could I when they didn't get it right with no customers in the place. See photos. (They did not charge for my meal). Service and ambiance a 5 star. Our meals rated for quality 1-2 star.

Chef Hickey's return is good news to all lovers of fine food. His palate is imaginative and his food is a delight to both tongue and eye. Tapas is a new thing locally. The concept is simple. For $20 you get three tapas "plates" delivered five minutes apart. Each plate contains a small serving of an elegant dish. We had beef with bleu cheese, salmon with peppers, tomato and mozzarella, chicken piccata, a simply wonderful clam chowder and bread pudding (my personal weakness). Each plate was presented promptly and the care with which each was constructed was evident. This is fine cookery at its best! The only weakness is the bar, which is still being fitted. There was only one draft - Blue Moon, but more is coming, I understand. The tapas plates change on Friday, so there should be a lot of variety. Excellent. Just excellent.
