I really enjoyed my visit to Bask Smokehouse. Big shout out to the bartender that waited on me. She gave me her name right out of the gate, but I'm horrible with names, so I don't recall for sure... Ashley l think. But if I'm wrong, I'm sorry. She took such good care of me the entire visit. Thanks!!! Love the vibe of this place. Was made to feel at home right away. Food was seriously good. I had the pork belly burnt ends as a starter. Them were top shelf. Fat rendered, lean tender, and the sauce was tangy and a little spicy. Scatter of fresh Fresno peppers sliced thin were a nice touch. My main was a 3n3 with pork ribs, pulled pork and Tri tip. All smoked perfectly. Tender still juicy. The only minor adjustment I might make is lightly reasoning the pulled pork after the pull. But that's it. Sauces made up for that though. Sides were good too. Braised kale, green beans and Mac and cheese. All wonderfully prepared. Kale was so good I bought a quart to carry out. They kill that kale l. It is so good. All around good experience. read more

This was such a happy accident to find. It was close to our hotel so no need to fight over parking. We walked in and were greeted by an... interest (?) live music. We decided to hit the patio because it was a gorgeous evening and there was better live music taking place down the street that we could enjoy at a comfortable volume. That's when Jessica welcomes us. What a shinning star of an employee. We were unsure on the cocktails to order and she broke down the flavor profiles beautifully and gave top notch recommendations for the liquor choices. Then we mentioned we were looking at apps. We were very up front about this being our first experience and asked what she suggested of the two we were debating on. She then told us about a special that was more an entree but also would be a great app; the wonton nachos with pulled pork. Wow. Those were a shining star. We then got the 2&2, tried the smoked Turkey and Beef Tri Tip with sides of the Deviled Egg Potato Salad and fresh green beans. Did we forget to choose sauces like the menu said? Heck yeah we did, but Jessica came through clutch and picked the sauces she thought paired best with each meat and upon delivery, made sure we knew what was the best pairing. My god, was it perfect. The apple butter based sauce *was* perfect with the Turkey (and now i think it needs to be tried with the pork but i digress) and the Smokey hot bbq gave just the nicest spice for the tri tip. Was it the best barbecue we've ever had? I'm not gonna blow smoke, pun not intended. It was pretty good. I legitimately was so engrossed in the food i forgot i had a cocktail beside me. But what made it amazing is the care to the experience Jessica gave. She listened to our interests from the menu and helped make it an unforgettable dining experience that is going to bring us back again. Barbecue in Downtown Huntington. I arrived in Huntington, and it was raining. Luckily, my hotel was right next door to Bask Smokehouse, and I decided to give it a shot. Bask was not that busy at the time I arrived, and I was seated right away. My server helped me pick some sides and gave me beer samples to try from a West Virginia craft brewery, and I decided on an IPA. My Main course was a 'two-meat' choice, and I ordered Tri-tip, sliced Smoked Turkey B with Braised kale and a sesame cucumber salad. The platter also came with five barbecue sauce samples, Texas Toast and a side of pickled onions and pickles. The turkey had a very nice smoked flavour, and the tri-tip was cooked to a medium rare, which helped keep it moist and full of flavour. The food was very good, and so was the service, and it helped that it was right next door to my hotel. read more

Recently we were here for a friend's birthday, and the environment was amazing. We had a large party of 9 and were quickly and easily seated, it was around 1pm on a Sunday. My husband and I both got a platter and then shared. The brisket was amazing as was the cauliflower. My favorite thing though was the honey spoon bread!! It was beyond delicious! This place is gets better each time. I first came here right after the restaurant first opened. It wasn't very good. I came back months later and the food and service had greatly improved. The hotel I stay at when I'm in town is right next door, so it's an easy spot to grab a quick bite at the bar, hence giving it more than one chance. This time, pretty incredible. I had the ribs and pulled pork. Both were great. Baked beans were awesome. Manager was behind the bar and helped me pick from their choices of bbq sauce. He and the bartender, Ashley, were both very kind and attentive. Normally, restaurants in Huntington start strong and quickly go downhill. This place has been the opposite. A nice addition to downtown Huntington. TVs at the bar are playing sports. It's a nice vibe. read more

We stopped in for an early dinner. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server shortly thereafter. We chose the 3 meats and 3 sides (it is enough to share). We had the sliced tri-tip, chopped brisket, and a sausage. Our sides were mashed potatoes, baked beans, and kale. They were running an early bird special on appetizers and we chose smoked wings ($1 each). All of our food was very good. We would not hesitate to eat here again. read more

2nd trip here and the food is out of this world! Service is prompt, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant is extremely clean and the atmosphere is not overly loud. Easily moved into top 10 IF NOT top 5 restaurants in Huntington. The Brisket Rangoon Dip ranks as 1 of the best apps in the city. Burger, brisket, pulled pork, and even the fish is superb! The "dirty" crinkle cut fries are perfect! And the apple butter bbq sauce is OMG. Hoping they continue to do well and cement themselves as a staple of the city. LOUIS RIBS IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TRIM THEM. Nobody wants to get all that extra cartilage on their plate. They were spareribs overcooked to mush and drowned in sauce. Finally a great BBQ place in Huntington! The Dino bone was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The taste was excellent. We tried the spoon bread (sweet cornbread) and we loved it! This was my first time here just to try the Dino rib. The waitress we had was very friendly and attentive... she alone gets 5 stars. For apps we ordered the brisket crab Rangoon. Not for me .. it was sweet and stringy. Didnt like it at all but my son did. Also ordered the wings with the maple buffalo glaze.. they were delicious. For the main course we ordered brisket and the dino rib. They came out looking DELISH! The meat was fall apart just by touch, cooked to perfection with high quality of meat. But there was absolutely NO TASTE besides beef grease!! Not a lick of salt or anything. We both took a bite and just looked at each other cause I swear we had JUST said how mad we would be if there was no seasoning.. I mean is that how it's supposed to be? Are we not supposed to SEASON OUR MEATS???? I mean I poured salt but it wasn't enough. Asked for spicy bbq.. it want spicy and tasted like store bought and not even baby rays. The hype and the reviews left high expectations but low payout. Service was not great, gnats were extremely prevalent, and the beer was room temperature. I had to asked for a frosted glass, a craft beer cardinal sin, with each "large glass" fitting conveniently in the "small glass." The brisket was Smokey, but lacked flavor. The bark on the ribs was absolutely terrible the bark was destroyed, and burnt, the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, and fry's were excellent, the service was terrible we waited 30 minutes just to get our drinks, it took an we have ordered a starter for our dinner. It didn't come out he said it should be out soon and also stated when he came back that he put the pimento cheese dip as a side, how is that an option I'm not sure. This is going to be a long one. I have tried this restaurant twice now and was disappointed both times. The first time I went earlier in the day and 90% of the menu cannot be ordered before the evening. They do not have a lunch menu. I also had WLS so I cannot eat a lot; they refused to let me order a kid's meal and would not accept my bariatric card. This is just greed in my opinion. The waitress said that adults have to pay adult prices which is why I could not get a kid's meal. She was also rude and impatient. My food was okay, but my husband really wanted to try some items that were unavailable the first time. We ordered carry out on a different day and the entire order was not correct. Items came with things that were requested to leave off, and other items were missing additional add-ons. We were also missing one of our items entirely. 'Alex' only offered to refund the missing item after arguing with us and going through various scenarios. Even trying to say that we had someone else pick up our order and they must have went through my bag. I personally picked up my order. This was all very inconvenient as I live over an hour away.
