Visited Kasai's Uniontown location for a special occasion dinner! We had a party for 8 which they were easy to accommodation with our reservation. The inside was very modern with a decent sized dining area and sushi counter. Their menu is very large with a wide variety of appetizer, sushi, ramen, and hibachi choices. They were also doing a $22 Sunday Special which had a huge portion! The service to start was a bit scattered and we felt a bit pressured to ordered immediately. As time went on, things improved. Our group ended up ordering the Fried Calamari (a bit small of a portion) & Gyoza appetizers which were thoroughly liked by the group. For mains, we ordered a variety of sushi rolls, ramen, and noodle dishes. The Lo Mein style noodle dish had a very large portion and great flavor. The favorite sushi rolls were the Eel & Cucumber, Spicy Crab, and all Specialty rolls. All "spicy" sushi was rather mild. All presentation aspects exceeded my expectations! This is one of my family's absolute favorite places to eat. My parents have had lots of seafood and sushi in California, but they always say how amazing Kasai is and it might almost be better than what they've had out there! My favorite sushi spot in the area. They have a ton of rolls to choose from, with all the usuals and several specialty options. They have hibachi and other Asian offerings as well but the sushi is my go to! We met friends here for dinner most recently on Wednesday evening and got seated right away. Our server was friendly and the perfect amount of attentive and we all enjoyed our sushi. My favorite is the 381 roll...so good. Definitely check this place out! read more

Went early, lunch 11a on a Thursday, seated right away, waiter excellent. California Roll great, very small side salad. Good place for a light lunch. I stopped eating uncooked foods so can't comment on sushi but I think my friend had it and liked it. They had one page lunch menu, which is good if I wanted larger portions and sushi. Appeared clean, quiet and the staff very nice. Plenty of parking and no steps to go in. read more

Went with my family to try something unique for the day. They like sushi so we went there for lunch and was not disappointed. The patio outside is nice because they have it covered and edged out to prevent you from being overly exposed to the elements or traffic. The food however is where it is at. I got the salmon bento box with spicy tuna roll. Whether it was the cook on the fish, the texture of the rice, or the accompanying onion/pepper mix, it was all really well done. Very good food. Wonderful local place with a vast array of sushi rolls, ramen, hibachi and more. We went for some ramen and sushi and both were delicious. I also had a cosmo martini which I loved and was very large for $10. The rolls can get expensive but they're big! The restaurant is small and a little loud but good for groups 2-4 and more if you call ahead. There's a sushi bar and they do a lot of take out orders as well. Only reason I didn't go with 5 stars is because while they took our order and our food came out quickly, we waited very long for anyone to come back and ask for a box or get our check. read more

I called three weeks ago to make a reservation for a birthday dinner in our family. Show up and the doors are locked... why let us make a reservation for a day they aren't open? We came here with reservations. We still had to wait at the door for the 2 groups who walked in ahead of us. It seemed like the employee in charge of packing to-go orders was also the hostess. She finished packing up an order and then sat the first couple. Then she went back to pack another order. She came back to seat the next group. She was about to leave again when she asked if we had reservations. Since we did, she took us to our table. That was good except we sat at our table for 10-15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Yes.. they were busy and short staffed. We were patient and ready to order when our server came by. He was nice and apologetic. I had the hibachi chicken and shrimp. It was good. My sister had the grilled calamari. I would probably order that next time. It was tasty and flavorful. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Slow start but finished strong. read more

Food, service and atmosphere are all 5 stars to me! Sushi and salad are my #1 choices when I order from Kasai. Generally orders are for takeout, but will eat inside or on the patio in warmer months. Great location! Sushi favorites are: spicy tuna roll, Volcano Roll, Mango Tango (it's divine), Malibu Maki (like eating a tropical dessert ~ yum), along with trying new rolls depending on the mood of everyone's pallet. The ginger dressing on the salad is truly one of the highlights of my meal. The team at Kasai are professional, efficient, and funny! Keep up the great work and hats off to all of the sushi chefs! The food was great and when we went they were running a special where you could buy a $100 gift card and get a $20 gift card back. The food quality was so good! The fish tasted fresh, Melted in your mouth and the different flavors of the sushi sauces and fillers was great. Wish I remembered the names of the different rolls. We also ordered tempura shrimp/veggies and edamame as starters. They were small but good enough for four adults. The sushi boat came with miso soup and salads. It was meant to be for three but they were so kind to add in a fourth serving of salad and soup :-). Service was really slow but they seemed to be super busy with take out orders. My advice for next time, order take out. The poor servers were slammed which made for waiting 40mins for refills on just the water. read more

Had a very nice time here! Came in on a slow night, and everyone was really kind! They brought me a little appetizer treat that was SO GOOD!! All of the food and my martini was really great. Stopped in for lunch last week with a friend. I've passed this place a hundred times and had always wanted to stop in, just never had. It's cozy inside for sure, but it wasn't crowded for a Wednesday lunch. The service was quick and friendly. The food was good, but I didn't find the lunch portion of the chicken hibachi very filling. I rarely eat out anymore for the same reason lots of people don't. service is of iffy and everything is very expensive. We came to Kasai for dinner and drinks. We got 2 drinks at $10 a piece which was fine. We tried 2 sushi rolls and they were fine too. I ordered a noodle dish and my companion ordered a rice dish, both with chicken. they were incredibly underwhelming. I was very surprised at the poor quality food because the decor is very nice and the service was great too. Mine was bland and salty at the same time, the rice dish was incredibly sweet. Yesterday, I ate at Kasai for the first time, and I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere. For being in a shopping plaza in a small town, it had a cool downtown sushi house vibe inside. Other than commenting on the vibe and before mentioning the food, I want to highly recommend making a reservation before you go. Given it was a Saturday evening, we did have to wait for about 30 minutes for a table for two. We tried the two sushi rolls (spicy tuna and spicy crab) and chicken hibatchi, which were both just OK. While I know it can be hard to get high quality sushi when you're not on the water or in a big city, I definitely had to deduct a star for the tuna roll. It was made from what looked like puréed tuna instead of normal whole cut tuna. Maybe that's what they had to do in order to keep it fresh, but it was not great. The good news is that the portion sizes were nice, so you could at least fill up. All-in-all, it's got a good atmosphere with a cool little bar that we may come back and visit. However, I don't know if I'll go out of my way to come back again. read more

The best Asian/Japanese cuisine in Green. The number of times I have eaten here is far too many to count. My only complaint is that they're closed on Monday's, usually the one day a week I go out! However, the food is incredible, whether you're getting sushi, hibachi, a salad, a drink, it doesn't matter. It's going to be great. My favorite thing to get when I come is the Bento Box usually as it comes with a roll of sushi, rice, a chef choice appetizer, pork or chicken Katsu, and the house salad and miso soup. read more

This place has gone downhill drastically. They used to have one of the best lunch menus around, but have since gone to an only dinner menu. It's odd, because they close from 2:30 to 5:00 to transition from lunch to dinner, but as of Tuesday 7/19, the person who answered the phone confirmed that they no longer serve lunch. Seems the need for a mid afternoon transition period should go away. They also routinely are near the top of the list of health code violations for Summit County the past couple of years. At one point they were available on the delivery apps, and that also went away. As one of very few sushi places in the area that offered sea urchin, they decline to offer that either. This place used to be a gem, and I realize pandemic related staffing issues can cause a transition in business model. However, they no longer communicate changes nor answer questions on social media. The tide shift in their offerings and customer service has been really disheartening. I hope they rebound at some point and focus on the things that made them unique for several years. As you read reviews of this establishment, you will notice several reviews that echo my sentiment. We used to love it more than any other sushi place, but are disappointed with the decline in quality, lack of attention to detail, and disappearance of menu offerings. Do NOT order takeaway (neither for pick-up nor delivery) from here. Dining-in is fine, but try not to go during peak hours (such as anytime on the weekend or lunch/dinner on weekdays). Go at off-peak/random times and you will receive good service, otherwise, it's the luck of the draw. There is clearly a problem with management here and I'm not sure if it is a matter of being short-staffed or a matter of disorganization. Perhaps it's a combination of both. They have 3-4 sushi chefs, which is wonderful! But I'm not sure what else is going on in the back of the house and front of the house to cause such delays. I think if you're ordering sushi, you would probably be okay. Just show up 10-15 mins after the proposed time they tell you to pick up your order. If you are ordering hibachi or other cooked food, you had better go inside to eat or choose another restaurant. If you are ordering from a delivery service, make yourself a T.V. dinner because you will be waiting quite a long long time for them to prepare your order. I had three (THREE!) delivery drivers assigned and all of them waited quite a while at the restaurant. The first two cancelled my pick-up and left (probably because they were tired of waiting). This is my second review of this establishment, sadly it has deteriorated, I'm very saddened by this, but it's a sign of the times, I'm guessing they have a hard time finding good workers, keeping the quality up and just doing business in a Post Apocalyptic (Biden) economy. This was our GO TO sushi spot for the last few years, but lately things have changed. COVID forced them to depend on carryout and delivery, nobody would deliver to us, I guess we were too far, so we ordered take out. Half or more times you could not even get an order to be accepted, they won't answer the phone and when you do get through, they consistently botch the orders. I'm thinking Leon may not be aware, he seems to have a much better business sense than that, but if he is, that is sad as well. Almost every order in the last year and a half has had at least one issue, from missing salads to wrong items. Last night was the final insult though, the missing item was a pricey roll, $14 to $15 range and the Chirashi was "different", more grocery style than Japanese inspired. Sadly we will be looking for a new GO TO sushi spot, we so loved this one, I'm very sad. read more

The Kasai in Green seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes we visit and we get good service, while other times we have been left unattended for way too long and on 2 occasions left because we were "forgotten." The sushi is very good though which keeps bringing us back. We go when its not peak times to get the better service. read more

Haven't been here since my last review in 2015 because the experience was awful as you can tell from my last review, but my friend recently told me about their discount sushi on Sundays so I had to try it out. We were seating right away, and drink order was taken promptly, we ordered several rolls which were very well priced compared to other places in the area, they also allowed me to make my own roll out of one for $1 extra and it was worth it. We will definitely go back on Sundays for the sushi, probably won't go back for dinner or anything else due to other reviews still not being great since the last time we tried that. The specifics, we got seated right away and then waited about 25 minutes to place our order. With two kids in tow, not an easy feat. This is not a good restaurant for kids, although Yelp believes it is. Our menus were not up to date, as they don't offer most of the appetizers listed, which would have been nice to know. The restaurant is very clean, the food presentation is pretty, the food is consistently delicious and the the staff are seriously so so sweet. 100/10 stars for me. I return on a monthly basis.
