I had a hankering for chicken pad thai during a boring day at work so I checked out this carry-out only asian food joint nearby the office. Photos and reviews of this place are scarce so I just went in on a wing and a prayer to pick up my chicken pad thai to go order, which was ready about 20 minutes after I called it in. For only $9.75, I was given a pretty good size portion of my noodle-y craving with plenty of Jalapeño, peanut crumbles, and a scattering of bean sprouts. I took the peppers off, of course, and dug in. While I wish there were more bean sprouts (and any other vegetable associated with pad thai), I enjoyed the sugary sweetness of the sauce and the salty flavor added from msg and the peanuts. The sauce isn't as sweet as other pad thai I have gotten in the past, which I am not sure if I like more or less haha. The chicken is what brought the dish down... the strips of chicken were truly nothing special. The lady working the counter provided good service, despite how busy the place was with to-go orders. She offered to staple my paper bag with the food and kindly allowed me to take lots of sauce packets and plastic silverware. It took me a year to finally order something from Mr. Chengs, but I am happy I finally did and enjoyed my lunch! Food here was good quick Chinese type food. Pricing was very fair. We got the lunch portion of Hunan Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. Came with a decent portion size of chicken and then rice in the container for around $8.50 each. Store was easy to get in and out if for pickup and they also allow for delivery services to pick-up. This is my go to Chinese restaurant for a couple years now. The people are always so nice, the food is always great (and I've tried a lot of their dishes) and food is almost always ready within 20mins but sometimes 40 if it's busy. I've ordered through grub hub a couple times for them and didn't seem to have any issues with that either. I'm normally quite picky about Chinese food because there's a lot of times when I've ordered somewhere and get a bite of meat that is a weird consistency and it just grosses me out and I can't eat any more of it, but I've never had that problem here. The food is delicious. I prefer their Thai and Vietnamese dishes over their Chinese food. The egg rolls are fantastic. Beware of ordering from them through DoorDash (whether you pick it up yourself or have it delivered to you)! I'll explain below. Mr. Cheng Asian Bistro has typical "Americanized" Asian food that you will find at any local Asian restaurant in your area. Not too bad, but the same as anywhere else. So they need to stand out if they want your business. Their staff is friendly, so that is a plus! They don't have dine-in, only takeout or delivery, so if you want to go to a place to sit down, this is not your restaurant. Prices are also on-par with other Chinese takeaway restaurants in the area. So what makes them stand out? Time. Unfortunately, it makes them stand out in a NEGATIVE way. I've been here several times and each and every single time, when they quote you how long it will be until your food is ready, like clockwork, you need to add a minimum of 20 minutes to your order. If they tell you that your order will be ready it 10 minutes, it won't. It will be ready in 30-45 minutes. It doesn't matter if you call the order in on the phone, or if you come in and place your order, or if you place an order for pick-up through a website/app (like DoorDash). I have never ever NEVER gotten my order when promised. I have always arrived on time and been forced to wait in their small cramped lobby amongst other patrons (during a pandemic). They will tell you that it will be 5 more minutes. Then you ask them and they tell you it will be another 10 minutes. And then another 5. I have ALWAYS waited for at least 20 minutes after the promised time, even when they're not busy or it's an odd time (such as between lunch and dinner rush). And I'm fed up. I can go to other Chinese/Asian takeaway restaurants for equally good tasting food and similar prices and not have to waste time waiting. Every time I've ordered delivery from them through DoorDash, it's the same experience, but worse because it seems to take even longer. I will never order from here again. read more

GO ELSEWHERE! We've now given this place 3 attempts and will not do it again. They usually take over an hour to prepare an order for 2 people no matter what time of day or day of the week. On our last attempt, they forced our Door Dash driver to wait an extra 30 minutes for our order. When we received the order, there was only 2 packets of soy sauce, no fortune cookies and no wonton crispies for the soup we ordered. You must do better, Mr. Chengs! Shame on you! read more

Excellent restaurant - we ordered 4 dishes for takeout and all were exceptionally prepared. The beef pho was packaged separately so we could assemble at home. Broth was still piping hot and had amazing complex flavor. The bun dry noodles with barbecued beef was flavorful and the dressing was perfect to pull all the flavors together. We still enjoy the food from this restaurant if you have not tried it yet you should It's well worth the drive. Bon appétit this Asian bistro is one of the best carry outs you will find it's very very good food every bit as good as find indoor sit down dining at an Asian restaurant the menu may not be as large or you may not get sushi the way you would at a sit down restaurant or you won't find somebody standing there Cooking the food at your table side and throwing shrimp into their hat. But the quality of the food you receive is very good the price is reasonable I support them as often as I can when we have a need for Asian food. read more

Great local Asian restaurant. While the location has gone through a few changes over the last 8 years, it's always been a staple for my family and I. After having a craving for some take out and realizing that I had not been here in nearly a year, it was time to go back. Our order consisted of egg rolls, steamed meat dumplings, vegetable lo mein, wonton soup, & beef/broccoli. I can honestly say it it was some of the best food out of the location I. A very long time. Everything was still warm by the time I picked it up and got home. The egg rolls were delicious and the sauces for both the dumplings and beef with broccoli were season but not over powering like some places. Bottom line, we will definitely be back and it won't take us nearly a year this time. Hope others take this as a positive review and visit soon. read more

I have mourned the loss of Mr. Cheng's ever since they closed their Jackson location several years ago. I literally stopped eating Chinese food because I knew I would meet with nothing but disappointment, because nothing comes close to the freshness, quality, and flavor that is Mr. Cheng's. So when sitting outside the frozen yogurt place in Green I happened to look up and see a sign reading "Mr. Cheng's" next door, I rushed in to ask if by chance it was the same people. Low and behold it WAS. Miracle of miracles, confetti and celebration: they were BACK. I always described Mr. Cheng's to others in this way: Their food on the SECOND day (as leftovers) tastes like everyone else's FIRST day. It's true. *Beware: If you get your American-Chinese-food-fix here it will spoil you. You will not want to get it anywhere else.* Pro tip: Their General Tso's is crunchy and amazing. I will say, gently, this time it was a tad more on the sweet / less spiceful side, and not as darkly colored as how they used to make it. Still stellar. In conclusion, go support Mr. Chengs. We've ordered from here 4 times over the past 3 months. Each time the food has gotten worse. The first time, the pad thai was pretty good, the spring rolls and crab Rangoon very good. The second time, the Hunan chicken and pad Thai just ok. The third time, the Pad Thai was gummy and tasteless. The forth time, Sweet and Sour Chicken was just hunks of batter, hardly any chicken, no veggies at all, and a sweet red gloppy sauce, while the spring rolls were crisp on the outside, filled with something totally mushy and gross. The day after was spent in the bathroom by those who tasted the spring rolls. Not sure what has happened there, but won't be eating their food again. Something is very wrong. We recently moved to the Firestone Park area of Akron and have been trying to find a go-to takeout Chinese option near us - this isn't crazy close, but it's so good it's completely worth the 10 minute drive. Gorgeous fresh veggies, well-cooked shrimp, chicken, and pork, and the egg rolls were DELICIOUS and crispy, not greasy. My husband got General Tso's and was really pleased with it as well. We'd eaten at their prior location in Jackson and been pretty impressed. Really looking forward to trying the Vietnamese and Thai dishes, which are a little rarer around Akron(I only know of one place that has pho off the top of my head.) They do have a small dine-in space, but are currently carryout-only. read more

This is the BEST Chinese food I have had in a very, very long time. It is by far the best in Green, Jackson Township and North Canton. I ordered vegetarian lo mein and a vegetarian egg roll.
