A great banquet hall is worth its weight in gold, and it was a true surprise to visit Carl's, a…read morelocation that I really wish I'd visited before now. You know you're in for something good when your bus driver hears the name of the restaurant being mentioned in another conversation and says, "You'd better try the roast beef." Despite being situated near the edge of the city, in a part of Brampton that's within spitting distance of Oakville (basically, farmland almost everywhere you turn), there was no shortage of people here. I attended a book launch for Mayor-elect Patrick Brown's new book, and wasn't surprised to find out that the place was booked overcapacity. Walking in an hour before the event, I wasn't entirely surprised to find that the space was already set-up, with cards featuring fancy writing adorning each seat, free pens (FREE PENS!) and massive floral arrangements at each table. It may not be the biggest event hall/wedding space out there, but if my view of the grounds were any indication, this was already an extremely-beautiful and compelling site for a small-scale wedding or social event. Of course, there was food served at the event. While a handful of the back-line cooks looked like they'd rather be somewhere else on the few occasions they came out of the kitchen, that certainly didn't impact the quality of the food. Mini-samosas and the fabled roast beef were on-deck, with a chef cutting off giant strips for hungry guests and offering to make mini-sandwiches with horseradish and other toppings. I admit that I didn't get as full of an experience as some of the other guests, as I had to eat quickly considering the schedule of the event (people were being served just as the presentation on the book began), but I don't hold that against them. They also had what appeared to be an open bar with multiple featured cocktails that night, but I simply settled on some coffee, which was about as ho-hum as it gets. Maybe they could spring for some dark roast next time. I contemplated giving this a 4.5 out of 5 and rounding down, but I felt that the experience was enjoyable enough across the board and the site is so compelling that it deserved the top grade. If you want quality and an intimate space, this is the place for you.

Our guests were all very impressed with absolutely everything - the food, the drinks, the music, the decorations inside and outside - but what they were most impressed with is the incredible service. All of the staff were so helpful and full of energy, and truly went above and beyond for every possible request that came up. You were very accommodating with all of our little activities and decorations, and we are so thankful that you made sure the night went flawlessly.   A special thank you to: Melissa and Veronica for helping to prepare everything leading up to our special day. Bino, for setting up the outdoor ceremony for us, even though it was a little bit chilly. Jerome, Carol, and Norman for their great work in making the night so memorable.     We would recommend Carl's Catering to anyone who is looking for a special location that is different from the typical hall style wedding. The charm and love that comes from Carl's is truly one of a kind. It is also very helpful that they have packages which include the invitations, cake, decorations, DJ, etc. It takes a lot of stress out of the planning process.   We are so happy that we chose to have our special day at Carl's Catering and we will forever remember the wonderful day we experienced.   Thank you!

Absolute roller coaster of a review coming in…read more Ok my girlfriend and I walked into this place last night- decided to sit on the patio. They were out of Birra Moretti which was disappointing. Its difficult to find that beer on menus and ended up having a Peroni instead. Got the Calamari appetizer. The Calamari was perfectly fried and was absolutely delicious. HOWEVER, the dipping sauce it was served with was terrible. It tasted like a Pina Colada...so much coconut. I dont know why anyone would serve that dipping sauce with calamari. It was disgusting. But even without the dipping sauce the calamari was still really good. We then shared the Italian Pizza. Man...I've eaten a lot of pizza in my days. This may be top 5 all time. The crust was so crunchy, thin, and perfect. The sausage on top was amazing- as were all the other toppings. Its difficult to describe how perfect this pizza was. I will legitimately dream about it. It is the pizza all other pizzas strive to be. Straight up- I dont care how far you live. Just come and get a pizza- do not hesitate. But why 3 stars? For one, the service was just ok. Our waiter was very friendly but he didn't come out to ask us how the food was and after we were finished he never came out to clean the table or ask if we needed anything else. I ended up having to walk in to pay for the meal. And also, this place is way too expensive. For one beer, one appetizer, and one pizza it was $56 before tip. I'm tempted to give this 4 stars, but for a dine-in experience its only 3. But still, go try their pizza. Its insane

This could be from frozen. The ingredient says fresh mozzarella cheese, it doesn't taste like the "fresh" fresh cheese I used to have, taste more like regular shred cheese. Not sure why there are additional diced tomatoes, onion and green onion there, I like the simple version that only come with basil, San Marzano tomato sauce and mozzarella.
