We needed furniture while relocating from CA to Seattle because we left our furniture in Los Angeles. We like this shop because of price and quality. Some shops in downtown that we went were very ridiculously expensive. We bough 2 bar chairs, carpet and big L shape sofa with recliner (with motor) like in business class seat lol. All together we spent $4000 and we had free delivery. Delivery was so quick and professional. Usually drivers are confused with Downtown Seattle high rises and they need your assistance. This guys were so good!!! They just ask me if I booked elevator and I said yes from 8-10 AM and since they were arriving early they check in with security downstairs by themselves. The person who contacted me said they know this building very well. I was surprisingly shocked when they rang my door at 8 am ( they didnt needed any help in freight elevator or floor or directions). I live on 20th floor and they did everything efficiently and stress free. They assembled all furniture in 30 minutes took all the garbage and plastic bags with them. I had purchased several pieces from Kasala in the past and we were interested in replacing some dining chairs that hadn't faired well over time. The replacement chairs were available but backordered. When I inquired online about the backorder, I received an immediate response from Elena, the e-Commerce manager. I learned that the backorder was not significant but the color we wanted was being retired and no future orders would be available. Since I was replacing a chairs that had a small defect, I was offered a fair discount on the new purchase. I visited the Seattle store the following day and completed the order and purchase the color we wanted. Cute stuff but the customer service was terrible. I went in today at 2:50 and there was a woman and a man working. Horribly rude and unfriendly. I am shocked at how I was treated and will tell everyone I know that this place is judgmental and non deserving of business. We just purchased a home and were excited to furnish it with items from here. Now there is no way. My advice is to go into a shop where people know how to treat you like another person not like an annoyance. To follow up on the mangers below response. I was NOT the person wearing a face shield instead of a mask . I however was inside the store when that occurred. I witnessed the two managers shout from across the store that the lady must put a mask on, she responded asking if her shield was appropriate and they both shook their head and yelled no. No one offered her a mask or even tried to. I felt so uncomfortable at the way they handled the situation by yelling and embarrassing the poor girl like she was just bluntly not wearing a mask when she was attempting to do the right thing. Seriously, they yelled so loudly that many in the store looked over. As a manager of several department stores, dealing with the same obstacles involving Covid, I would be humiliated if my staff ever treated a patron like that. I'd be even more humiliated if another manager responded to a guest on yelp like they did something wrong, without asking the facts and seeing if they were talking to the correct person. Modern, unique and beautiful. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, that is not overbearing. But also a bit posh and overpriced. This little showroom is tucked behind pike place and is a great find. In general, this store carries contemporary and modern designs in furniture. Stylish retro couches, asian-influenced bedrooms, unusual custom rugs, and the most interesting lamp designs in the city. Most of the decor has a minimalist appeal with great accents and conversation pieces. The drawback is the prices. Which is why it's a great place to get ideas for a look and find it elsewhere for cheaper. Or to invest in a piece that will last. They have a great winter sale going on in the month of January and I made out with a beautiful lamp and discount shelves. There is also a hidden warehouse outlet that carries discontinued and showroom pieces at 75% off! It's south on Massachusetts Ave and can be tricky to find but is worth it if you are looking for a great deal! read more

Hmmm ... I wonder if people actually ever use reviews for a furniture store but I figure I might as well throw in my proverbial two cents plus tax. As many others have already commented, Kasala's aesthetic is very modern and austere (but also definitely not cold). I think some of the stuff runs really close to just being kitschy but I think that's inevitable with any store that attempts to forward looking in its aesthetics. I put "moderate" for the price range because I think that relative to lots of other similar stores, Kasala is actually on the cheaper end (definitely cheaper than DWR). They have an annual sale in June which is a great time to get some bargains. A decent dining room set (table, six chairs) can run you about $2K to $3K. A good couch is about $1.5K - $2K. To put it another way: Ikea is what you buy when you're in college Dania is what you buy after you get your first real job Kasala is what you buy to furnish your first home read more

I admit the service here is pretty bleak but you know sometimes they are expecting elite clients. I walked in here wearing my casual gear and I at least got a "hello" from a sales worker at the counter. I ended up buying this really nice clock for about $260.00 but I could have spent more. too bad kasala is just in the SEA area. i really don't know where else to get well-crafted and well-priced modern furniture without an annoying person tailing you while asking you probing questions to get you to latched unto their sales ploys. BUT, service is easy to get and one employee really answered all of my questions in a professional and detailed manner. per said associate, i bought one leather piece here, hoping that it would "age gracefully". i'm just starting to see the wear, and the color is changing slightly. it looks great-- exactly what he described. we've also gotten a mirror, a couple of rugs, a bookcase, end tables, lighting stuff, and random accessories like placemats, large fruit bowls, etc. we absolutely fell in love with a certain dining room table with a glass red top, metal accents, and wenge legs (fall '06: TAO dining table in red), but it was out of stock and limited quantities were made! i think the same style also came in frosted and black. Fancy expensive modern contemporary furniture! Yes! I'm a fan. I spent about an hour in here the other day with friends checking out all the super cool furniture. I don't know that I'd ever buy from this store as it's way out of my budget. The sales people were super cool and readily available if we had any questions. Everyone at the store was extremely helpful and now I know what all the hubbub is about. I think if you've finally graduated from having to do any sort of actual furniture shopping at Ikea, you should check this out. I always assumed this place was more expensive than it is. For this quality of upscale furniture it seemed very reasonable. We just happened to be there during a 16 hour sale, and while I don't consider myself to be quite out of the Ikea danger zone yet, I found items that I think would have fit my budget, especially if it was a purchase I'd planned for while. Contemporary design at a slight premium is how I would describe them. If you want good design and not something cookie-cutter, it costs a bit more. That's exactly what you get at Kasala, well made and simple contemporary design. Additionally, Sarah B's comments about the staff is right on the dot. They are attentive and helpful, letting you browse at your own pace while offering assistance when neeed. The delivery policy was also excellent. The first time I walked into Kasala, I was a bit smitten. But the more time I spend here and in other furniture stores in Seattle, the more the initial magic has worn off. They do stock some really high quality, American made wood furniture (e.g. the bedroom sets made by Copeland furniture) but they also sell lots of furniture that looks like solid wood but is actually wood veneer, or that doesn't have high-quality joinery that looks like it could stand up to frequent moves. So, before you make a major furniture purchase from Kasala, I'd recommend doing a little research into the manufacturer and how the products are made, warranties, etc. to make sure you know what you're getting - especially because it's not always obvious just by looking at the price tag. The smaller, accessory and art type items that they sell are more eclectic, kitschy, and "common" than some of the other design stores in Seattle. The prices are reasonable, yes, and you can find some pretty things here, but for truly interesting and unique and "grown up" trinkets and accessories, I would recommend some of the other places on Western before Kasala. Customer service has always been helpful - a warm welcome when I walk in, and an occasional "let me know if you need anything" which is really about all I want when I'm browsing/shopping in a store like this. read more

Over two years ago we purchased a bed from Kasala. After use, the springs/slats moved out of position and caused creaky noises and decreased back support. We called asking if there was a solution and within 24 hours they were at our home to make it right. No hassle, no charge. I got a set of six dining room chairs sold as leather. Now, some years later the upholstery (not leather at all, I found out) is cracking and peeling off in all of them. I sent Kasala an email with pictures and got no reply. When I finally called, they told me "Sorry, they are out of warranty, and yes, they are not leather". We've always liked almost everything in this store, when it's not uncommon for us in other furniture stores to not like anything at all at the place. Recently was the first time we actually bought anything here though. We got two really snazzy chairs for our living room. Since the store was running a clearance sale the next week, the employee told us that they would automatically refund the sale difference once the sale began. They actually did refund us the difference without us even having to follow up with them, and it turned out to be half off! We couldn't be happier. Midcentury modern to the max. My husband and I have been looking for a studio-suitable sectional to replace our obnoxiously large love seat for quite some time. Due to our modest budget and a desire to purchase something that will last without having to rent it out to strangers on the weekend to afford it... we haven't been able to find many couches worth purchasing. We strolled in looking like a couple of young twenty-somethings and were treated very well by their staff and never felt pressured into purchasing or politely ignored when we had questions. We ended up being equally in love with a couple options (Arcadia & Kimbu) and Annie, a sales associate, was helpful in discussing our space needs and lifestyle to help us reach our final decision to purchase Kimbu in charcoal. Other sectionals we loved and thought about purchasing were the Sydney and Montez. If you are in the market for an upgrade from your IKEA couch purchase last year that you never really liked and is already falling apart, Kasala is for you. I really like Kasala. I particularly like to lie in wait for the sales at Kasala, and then buy what I need. So far we have a couch, recliner, two rugs, three leather barstools, one kitchen table, and six kitchen chairs from Kasala. Oh, and some bookcases. We do have *some* furniture from other places, but most has been slowly accumulated from Kasala over time, during sales. All items have proven quite durable and very comfortable-- good value in the long run. Some items are quite kitchy, but there are also some simple, elegant gems. I sometimes go to the Bellevue location to look at things if I'm over that way since the parking is much easier. The outlet store is OK. read more

This review is for the DELIVERY department and DELIVERY MANAGER only. Not the sales staff or furniture itself, because that was a good experience. We ordered our furniture a month in advance to be delivered at our new home on our moving day, so we could move in and not worry about an empty house. Welp- the delivery driver called me letting me know he was at the door at the right time, but he was at the WRONG house. For some reason they had gone to our billing address, not our new address. I wasn't upset though because he told me he was going to make a few more stops before but would deliver ours that evening (around 1) No big deal. Well 2:00 hits and I hear nothing from them. I decide to walk my dog around 3:20 and missed a call and voicemail letting me know they were sorry for running late but they were headed over to our address next and needed the address again. I came back, saw I missed the call, and called them back 10 minutes after the call. They told me it was too late and we will need to reschedule? Because of a 10 minute delay if calling them back? I talked to the manager and threatened to cancel our whole order (about $8,000 worth of business) and he still wasn't willing to fix the problem even though the mistake was on their end, not ours. Next time we order furniture it will be through another company unfortunately. Super shady. read more

If you're in the decorating mood, a trip to Kasala should be considered. We visited the showroom across from The Market while we were in the middle of redecorating our living room. The staff was very friendly, eager to help and offer advice but not pushy. As with all 'home decorating" projects, more than one trip is required to get the room the way you want it and their return process was very easy. Many of the larger items will require pickup at the warehouse in Sodo, which is located next door to their outlet store. There are lot's of good deals here on scratch and dent items. read more

To me, shopping for furniture is just about as fun as getting smacked in the face with the severed leg of an adorable puppy that someone has torn off right before your eyes in order to smack you in the face with it. I feel sick just thinking about "fabric choices". But it had to be done - so I put on my big girl pants, dried my palms and headed out to the dreaded furniture district where I quickly learned that I cannot afford anything and everything is ugly anyway. And then I met my friend Kasala. There were lots of great pieces that I really liked... but I *loved* the prices and accessibility of it all. We were looking for something to have delivered right away and were pleased to find an array of choices we could have in our home the next day! The quality is about 200 times that of Ikea but probably not so good that I'm sitting on a couch my grandkids will ever see. In the end, we found a fantastic leather sectional for our oversized living room, some gorgeous lamps, a rug to match and walked away under budget. We don't always buy new furniture but whenever craigslist fails us or we don't feel like paying midcentury prices for midcentury style, we'll definitely go back to Kasala. read more

So far so good. I bought a gray Sydney sofa about a week before their sale for $800. The sofa is nice, and I appreciate that it was available for immediate pickup. After trying it out at home, I'd say you get what you pay for. It has a sturdy frame and adequately stiff cushions, and the fabric seems pretty durable. It's nothing fancy, however, and the fabric texture is a bit on the plain side. The holes for the legs were drilled a bit haphazardly, but assembly (i.e., fastening the legs) was manageable. The sales and warehouse staff were all great. (I visited the downtown and the outlet location on different days, out of curiosity to see if the outlet selection was different.) Because the sofa is due to go on sale in a week (presumably for ~$600), I was promised a refund of the price difference. Will update the review after navigating the refund process. read more

I blew my wad at Kasala and oh it felt so good. After browsing all three locations my wife and I committed to 6 living room pieces for $4500. 4 of the 6 were purchased at the Outlet store at significant markdowns (30-80% off initial retail). The other two we ordered out of the Bellevue and downtown Seattle locations after Karen patiently worked with us for a couple hours. We walked in with a hand-sketched floor plan and she walked us thru our options, helping us identify focal points in the room and our true usage purposes. Ended up with a sectional leather couch with chaise end, spinning club lounge chair, permanently reclined reading chair, a separate chaise with matching side table (half-cushioned, half-wood drink and snack top). Obviously I don't know a whole lot about furniture based on my make-em-up-as-you-go descriptions of the above items, but what I do know is that we browsed about 6 other furniture stores and the quality/price ratio here reigned supreme. Also the level of customer service is outstanding. If you spend over $2500 delivery is free, and they will pick up any returns within 30 days free of charge as well. It was fun shopping all 3 locations and adding on items one by one with different sales associates and then consolidating the free delivery into one. Style is modern and tends towards lounge. Lots of leather, wood, and glass, and definitely Scandinavian influence, but not Scandia or Ikea. They have a nice catalog, and rotate pieces quite often. If you stop in the Outlet store every so often, I imagine you will come across some great pieces and deals. For us this was a huge purchase but anticipate years of pleasure ahead.
