Finally got a chance to come back again after so many years and happy to report that they may have gotten even better! Everything we got was sooo good. Great balance of flavors. Texture contrast was so nice too. We particularly love the Sesame Crusted Albacore Tuna and the Persian Chicken Meatballs. But you really can't go wrong. For two people, four dishes were perfect. The sharing model makes it so fun to try different things. Will definitely be back!

Amazing experience! Came with vegetarian friends. They both enjoyed vegetables dishes and we also enjoyed them very much!! Mushrooms dish and lamb chop are the best dishes of the night! Enjoyed finishing with Espresso martini!

I've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Definitely go online and make a reservation though because it does get crowded. The sweet potato's are a must order and I also loved the chicken meatballs and bacon wrapped dates. Cute ambiance in here too. Dimmed lights, might be good for a date but really any occasion.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary here and have no regrets! The restaurant is somehow both big but intimate. The lighting is fairly dim so if dark ambiance is not your thing you may want to skip. They do have individual tables but also a few tables of community seating. If that's not your thing you may want to request a solo table in your reservation or upon arrival. We made a reservation and happy we did because it was fairly busy when we were there on a Sunday night. We were promptly greeted by a very friendly hostess when we arrived. She quickly sat us. Our initial server was great. Offered to answer any questions on both the drink and food menu. We asked if we could know what's on the tasting menu and he gave a good outline but said he could say specifically because it changes. We did order the tasting menu and the food came out in perfect increments and there is A LOT of it (not complaining). Everything that was brought out, by various people, was explained. They also all offered to get us something if we needed so it felt like we were being really well taken care of. The lamb kebab was the standout of the night! I noticed after we got our last dish though that we were forgotten about, really our entire corner was. I saw our server clock out and it felt like no one was tasked with taking care of his tables after he left. A little disappointing considering up until that point the service and food was great! Still giving five stars because I'll chalk it up as a fluke all things considered. We definitely will be back to get some things we got on the tasting menu and to try some we didn't get!

Best new restaurant we've eaten at in a long time. The food was amazing, the cocktails innovative, and the service thoughtful. It was crazy busy but we never felt rushed and the courses were brought out in a well timed rhythm.

There are a few restaurants I have long heard of but not been to, that eventually I will get to try, that absolutely BLOW away my expectations. This was one of those experiences. We tried this spot with some friends last week, fully expecting an elevated dining experience. What we experienced was certainly that, but one that was both elevated and approachable. First off, the vibe of the place is awesome. Industrial chic that they have warmed up to make comfortable, with roll up garage doors for the nice weather... stunning. We tried some fantastic food, had a lovely time doing it, and were so pleasantly surprised with the price that we'll certainly be back sooner than we thought!

After a couple more visits, an update: Dining is better at the bar top. The bartenders are friendly and very attentive. Much more comfortable for 1 or 2 vs. a table. It is too crowded on the floor and chairs have a tendency to back into each other. Noise level more tolerable at the bar. HH is not great so you will end up ordering from the main menu. Mention you wish the falafels not to be overcooked as they have been rock hard from previous experiences. Service much improved.

Warm greetings when you first arrive and promptly seated. The staff pours you water and explains how the food is meant for sharing. So we did. 5 items of bacon wrapped dates, salmon belly, hamachi crudo, grilled octopus, and the tastiest of them all, the lamb chops. While waiting for our food we looked around and it is both rustic and elegant. Curtains flowing reminded me of Greece. Then food arrives and the staff explains what each item is, the hidden layers of flavor, and we go to town on the food. It was a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have elderly parents with mobility issues. I see the ramp outside to get in but noticed some stairs once you are inside to get to the dining area. Is this the only way up?

There are no stairs to access the dining room. The ramp out front is the only elevation before you enter the restaurant and from there the dining room is all on the same level.

Are there any gluten and dairy free options available?

We are considering having a birthday dinner here. Is there somewhere I can find an example of your tasting menu? Thank you!

    Do you need reservations?

Thanks for reaching out! While reservations are not required, they are strongly recommended. We always welcome walk-in guests, but at peak hours, at times the wait for a seat may be substantial.

    Hi do you take reservations?

Yes, they take reservations via Resy.

Have they restarted outdoor dinning and are there heaters?

Hi Candy! We have a heated tent to provide a comfortable place for our guests to enjoy a beverage…

I see there's a chef tasting menu option. Do we have to order that or can we order a handful of items for the table, tapas style?

You can order either. You dint have to stick with the Chef's tasting menu.

Is this a good place for a party of 10-15, and will they take a reservation?

I would say no to the party of 10-15 and yes to the reservations

Nicholas Restaurant has a really cute, welcoming vibe, with outdoor tables and plenty of seating inside. They have a great selection of drinks, and I decided to try the house Arnold Palmer--made with fresh lemonade and cinnamon mint iced tea. It was unique and really refreshing. We started with a few appetizers for the table: hummus, tzatziki, and falafel balls. Everything came out quickly and was a hit. The hummus tasted incredibly fresh, the tzatziki had a nice tangy kick, and the falafel balls were perfectly crispy and flavorful. For my main, I ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, which came with two skewers, rice, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and cooked just right. Overall, a great meal with fresh, flavorful food and a relaxed atmosphere. I can definitely see why my family keeps coming back--this spot is well worth a visit.

Tucked into the corner of SW 12th and Alder in the West End, the space is warm and comfortable with wood accents, soft leather banquettes, and just the right amount of energy. The Dolly Focaccia with roasted garlic and olive oil, the Roasted Carrot & Farro Salad and the Grilled Heirloom Carrots are all simple and delicious. On the pasta side, the Tagliatelle al Burro is perfect, and the Black Kale Pesto Mafaldine with roasted mushroom and the Braised Short Rib Arancini with pecorino aioli and honey are equally good choices if you're after something a little more complex. This was my only other scheduled meal…read more I wanted to treat my friends to a meal on our friend's wedding day. Figured it would be the best way to kick off our day. Luckily, I was able to secure a reservation. The walk over was under 10 minutes for both of us. It gave me just the perfect amount of time to kill a j. I was ready to drink all the things. Sure enough, my hydration station had 3 options. Limoncello spritz for the fun category, water for hydration and Americano soda for the caffeine. The spritz was perfection. We started off with an order of the arancini. As we were unsure if we would like it, we got one then got another one as soon as we got our first bite. That was followed by the donuts. We were all in agreement that some type of dipping sauce would be a nice touch. My suggestion is dulce de leche. We then went to town on the broccoli &! Italian sausage, hash and tagliatelle. When I tell you - I was in food heaven. That tagliatelle was IT. My friends were kind enough to let me finish the rest. I gave way to the other two. Despite being ridiculous full, we still managed to make room for dessert. We got the cookie and lemon pound cake. Bro that pound cake can get it. The mascarpone whip on top made me tingle on the inside after I got a taste. My gawd I wanted to eat the whole thing. The biggest compliment came at the end of the night when my friend told me I chose the perfect spot and picked all the right dishes. Big thanks to Mike for taking such great care of us. He had the best response to my answer when he asked if we had allergy restrictions. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town.

I loved the wood fire as it kept us warm. As for the food it was not bad but not good either. The wedge salad is one of my favorite salads but the Bluto Wedge has a lot going on. Too many rich flavors, to the point of too much. It tasted like horseradish, with dill, and bacon grease. I personally love the taste of salad so don't need mine drenched in dressing like this one was. The Greek fries were cooked well but again too salty and over seasoned. BEST MEAL IN PORTLAND!!!!!…read more Saw this place randomly while looking for a place to eat after a long flight. It was late and not many places were open. This place was closed but a middle eastern place that serves cheesecake was soo intriguing that i knew i needed to come back. Came back Saturday night and they had no tables and was packed. However, they tried to accommodate us so much. However, the night was in our favor. As we started to order take out, a lady was kind enough to give up her table since she was eating alone. It was a small table for 3 people but the staff was sooo accommodating i have no words. They even gave free dessert to the lady who was kind. Then luck would have it, the table next to us never showed up for their reservation so they gave us that table. Finally, we ordered. Turned out, i also got the last shawarma too. Everything happens for a reason! We also got the Saudi chicken kabsa and cheesecakes. The biggest compliment i can give is when the food came, none of us talked for a good 5-7 mins and just sat there in heaven eating. The flavors were soo unique but yet so familiar. If this is Saudi food, i have been missing out. I need to explore more sub categories of middle eastern cuisine. Best bites in Portland for us and that's all i have to describe our experience. Finally, got the Nutella cheesecake and almond caramel cheesecake. I have to say, Nutella was good but easily a skip compared to almond and caramel. Just get 2 of those and you'll be happy. The cakes itself are light and not heavy. They were great end to a great meal. This is a family owned but family loved business. You can see the love as they serve their guests but you can taste the love too. The people are soo sweet and kind and just want to serve you. Please give your love here, because if i lived in Portland, this would my weekly spot.
