Ordered through Grubhub and this is the second time they have done this!!! I think they try and get away with sending meals out on delivery that they know would be sent back and refused if ordered at the restaurant itself. Absolute RIP-OFF! Pictured is a "half pound of brisket" for $23.00 and 60%-70% of it is just inedible fat! What was edible (3.4 ounces), was honestly disgusting and looks nothing like the photos they show online, as you can see for yourself. $11.00 for a cup of sour smelling banana pudding that was immediately tossed in the trash. $4.00 for a "chicken breast" that was literally 2 bites... This is the second and last time we will ever order from them again. I have never been more disappointed in an order of food in my entire life. We spent over $70 for the brisket as shown, a small salad with 2 bites of chicken, soggy coleslaw and sour banana pudding. Beyond unacceptable! Never again and truly hope this saves someone else from the disappointment that Reverend's BBQ truly is. Complete waste of money! Edit: It has been about 45 minutes since I ate what little of the brisket that was actually meat and not just fat, and I am extremely nauseous. Not worth the money, disappointment or naseau. Arrived on a Fri during Happy Hour and sat at the bar. The bartender was really nice and accommodating, in that she poured me a beer tasting flight, even though it wasn't on the menu. My friend and I ordered off both the HH menu and the reg menu. From the HH menu, we shared the deviled eggs w burnt ends, which I highly recommend. I then got just a $3 single St. Louis-Style Smoked Pork Rib (which came out as 1.5 ribs! YAY) and a crunchy Fried Chicken Slider on a butter toasted bun. The buttery bun is unique and that slider was my fave thing of all. I then got the Reverend burger with the mac n cheese from the reg menu. The burger was an excellent umami bomb, but the creamy mac n cheese with crunchy chips stood out even more (probably my 2nd fave thing, tied w the deviled eggs). Next time, I'm going full chicken sammie(s). Good times. read more

Many people claim this place as their FAVORITE barbecue. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed margaritas,Ribs,Open face sandwich, and Mac and cheese from the happy hour menu. But, for by-the-pound Beef Brisket and Boneless Fried Chicken Breasts , while I didn't weigh the order (so can't really allege it was light) it was a shockingly small amount of food for a very expensive price. I have a ton of food allergies due to Crohn's disease and tried ordering a small platter off the kids menu and was told they don't do kids meals for adults and when I explained my allergies she asked why I was there after I told her what I could order from their menu. My son loves Reverends BBQ. We stopped by Friday early afternoon for Happy Hour. The restaurant was quiet, clean with plenty of seating. All the staff were very friendly and engaging. Our party of 4 was seated at a cozy table near the bar. We ordered Old School Smash Burgers- L.M ground beef, house cheese blend, bread & butter pickles secret sauce, butter-griddled white bread. I loved this old school burger the smash patty was cooked perfectly resulting in a lacy, juicy and cheesy burger. The white bread is the perfect vessel to hold it all together. Simple and delicious. Happy Wedge salad - Iceberg Lettuce, LM Bacon, Shaved Radish, crispy Onions & Blue Cheese Dressing. Classic wedge salad the crispy onions and delicious bacon sets it apart from all others. Carolina Clamshell -Butter griddled white bread served open-faced with chopped pork shoulder, coleslaw and Carolins Gold sauce. This little gem was an unexpected surprise. I don't know how I'd never come here before as it's been in my bookmarks for ages. I happened to be coming by and saw it was not only open but also happy hour. All the staff were friendly, and the place was super cozy. I liked they had some bottles of bbq sauce you could use as well as Crystal's and a whole roll of paper towels. They also have a very diverse tap list which I appreciated. I got the HH relish tray, Carolina Clamshell, and one rib for good measure. Everything was sooo tasty! I am a big lover of tangy BBQ, and this definitely brought the bright acidity I wanted. I was tempted to get more but was on a further journey for the day. Definitely my favorite place in town now! We wanted to try a different BBQ place just to see and TBH, this place kind of got me with their banana pudding. In fact, it's a must with every order and I will not share. It was so good. The first time we ordered a big shareable tray and not only was it fully loaded, but tasted great. Enough food for a couple days to be certain. I love deviled eggs, but I love them more with tasty brisket. We've enjoyed the variety of sides they have to choose from as well and love the crispy top on the mac n cheese. Their burgers are also super tasty. BBQ is kind of pricey in general but this is no more expensive than others and the portions are plentiful. They have lots of sauces to suite a variety of tastes. It was Father's Day and it was very busy. We went an hour before we were meeting up with our son and his fiancé and put our name in. We then took a nice walk around the neighborhood. When we came back, our table still wasn't ready and we waited next-door for about 15 minutes longer and enjoyed a beer there. I think our waitresses name was Cynthia and she was fabulous. We started off with the deviled eggs, which were delicious. We had the big house salad, which was also amazing. Then the platter came with the two sides. There were four of us and there was still leftovers. Everything was exceptional except the mac & cheese to me wasn't anything special. I think getting the big meat platter is a great deal . st. louis cut pork ribs, fried chicken thighs, mac n cheese, slaw and french fries ordered to go. pork ribs were dry rubbed and the meat itself was a bit dry. maybe i should have ordered it mopped? still great flavor though. it's also a bit on the pricey side. fried chicken thighs were ON POINT. so tender and well seasoned. great portion size for a single person. this was the star of the meal. i HIGHLY recommend. it was still crunchy after a 20 min ride home! i wish i had more. sides were as expected in taste and portion. the fries side is way bigger than the other sides by the way. it filled up half a regular square takeout container. overall this is a good QUICK made meal. wish i could try more from the menu! read more

I got food from here Saturday June 29 and now it's July 4th and I am still horribly sick and have been to the ER twice.

The most mediocre "BBQ" I've ever eaten. Price point is high. Customer service low. Atmosphere is mid. Sticky tables. The date I took here raked it a 4.6/10 I thought that was generous. Let's start with apps. I got the smoked chicken wings $8.95 for 3 wings...that looked naked and lacked flavor. For smoked wings it was as if the smoke was wafted on them. Their ranch was thick and lacked flavor I was surprised I've never had a flavorless ranch. I got the rib plate that was decent. Ribs were low quality for meat and sauce flavor. Pretty stingy on sauce for ribs. Reminded me of apple bees ribs. Fries were amazing the best part honestly but for $5-$10 I'm not a fan. Got a side of Mac which was bum...velvita noodles without the flavor. Dry felt like it sat out for hours. I'd rather buy and make the velvita at home at least theirs flavor. Ordered one of their salads and it was wilted lettuce vinaigrette lacked any flavor tasted like oil on my salad and I ordered the ranch but we know how the ranch went. Everything was so subpar I am astonished they have customers coming back. Reminds me of microwaved dinner. I come from Texas and South Carolina so maybe I'm spoiled but I've tried other BBQ joints in here and I have to say go anywhere else if you want to feel like money was well spent. Food is delish, staff are friendly, and vibes are great (we sat outside on the patio in a warm summer evening). For the vegans - the collard greens are the only item that are definitely vegan, the tempeh is nearly vegan but the bbq sauce they're cooked in contains honey (call me a bad vegan), and I took a chance on the fries which the server told us he couldn't confirm were vegan, but said the bag they come in specifically says "contains wheat" on it. All said, I was pleasantly surprised and my fiance loved his meat meal. I know they're not catering to the vegans, but would LOVE to see a solid vegan tempeh sandwich option with vegan Cole slaw or vegan Mac and cheese, even just lettuce and tomato. I got the rib plate with 4 extra ribs, side of collard greens and baked beans. I then ordered a side of mac&cheese, potatoe salad, deviled eggs, smoked chicken wings, and the banana pudding. Everything lacked flavor all together. It was extremely basic in taste; the ribs were a little too smokey and barely any sauce on it. The sauce had a strange taste to it. It's almost like there was zero sugar in anything. And also barely any salt. The chicken wings were the only item that had some sweetness to it and tasted somewhat good. And the banana pudding was pretty good. The deviled eggs could have been better if they added some sugar and did not put the brisket on top. The brisket was so hard. Now the little relish on the side was the best thing in there. So good, it had that sweetness I was searching for in almost everything. Now I'm not saying an overpowering sugary taste, but sugar is good in a lot of foods to balance out flavor. And also other seasonings. I spent about $75 on this order and I love trying food or trying new food. I have 3 children, so we usually need bigger meals. None of my children were interested in this food and felt the same way. It's a cute restaurant and I was there between lunch and dinner, so it was relatively slow and quiet when I stopped in. The hostess was friendly and provided me with a menu to look over to place my order. The restaurant was clean and inviting. It had a cute ambiance and a BBQ vibe. When I got home I have to say I was disappointed both with the price, quantity but mostly the quality of the food. My husband and I love BBQ and travel across the US trying out BBQ joints as well cook much of our own. I ordered a rib / chicken combo. It came with three ribs and one piece of fried chicken, a small piece, collard greens and mac-n-cheese side. None of the food had much flavor. On arrival we were seated immediately and did not have to wait. The place was not very crowded but mostly filled. We ordered a starter , 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees. The coffee was normal. The chicken wings starter was a little sweet for my taste but had the perfect crispness. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty and I had it with a side of some spicy sauces. I travel the works for good barbecue. Growing up in Chicago there were plenty of competition. The great part of the Midwest is the prices are still reasonable. This take out was close to $30. West coast pricing is always higher due to several reasons including the high rent pricing. I can't adjust to it. The staff is nice. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food was decent. The ribs had a strong smoky flavor. You can tell they were cooked with care. Slow and steady. The greens were flavored with some sweetness, I do think it was apple vinegar. They failed on the Mac & Cheese, they put corn flakes on top of it. Never do that again. I'm not sure if I would go back since I thought it was pricey for the amount of food. My wife found this place on Yelp while enjoying our weekend in Portland. I must say, this spot DID NOT disappoint. The bbq was amazing!!! The service was impeccable! Our serve Dave was great! As a southern boy, I absolutely loved his overalls. It reminded me of my paw-paw when I was a boy. The ribs was some of the best I've ever had in the PNW!! The ambiance including the decor was amazing and antique which was so cool. We will definitely be visiting again next time we're in Portland. read more

Really glad we were able to sample menu items at Happy Hour prices. Unfortunately our dinner did not leave us happy in the end. The wedge salad was great. BBQ potato chips didn't add enough zing or acid to the creamy mac sauce and is unnecessary IMO. The pork and sauce in the Carolina BBQ clamshell was pretty good but the slaw was too plain. Pickles were nice and sweet but rubbery. The polenta that came with the creamed corn was light and , but the corn was meh. Baked beans were a no for us, texture wise. It wasn't particularly busy during our visit but we had to flag down people for cocktail refills and such. We were able to get a refill after 15 mins (we were seated at the bartop) The rib and pork were ok, but didn't make us want to come back and try it again. read more
