During my second appointment, the doctor performed IPR between teeth #7 and #8. That was not on my treatment plan. After this, I was left with a noticeable gap between those teeth. Since then, I have also experienced other teeth becoming crooked, my bite no longer feeling properly aligned, and jaw pain that I did not have before. Scheduling has been another major issue throughout my treatment. Patients are instructed to call when they reach the last tray of each set of aligners. However, when I followed those instructions, appointment availability was extremely limited. At my second appointment, I explained that I had called approximately four weeks earlier trying to schedule. The doctor's response was, "It's probably because of the holidays," referring to Thanksgiving. If an office does not have sufficient appointment availability to provide Invisalign treatment in a timely manner, patients should not be financially penalized for delays caused by the office's scheduling limitations. My treatment has been unnecessarily extended due to time spent waiting for appointments, yet I am now being held financially responsible for that additional time. Unfortunately, the problems have continued while I have been trying to transfer my Invisalign case to another provider. Invisalign notified this office of my transfer on August 5, yet the office has continued billing me and telling me that I am responsible for the remaining balance. There have also been issues with my orthodontic dental insurance. I was given documentation showing that my orthodontic claim had been denied, but no one explained to me why it was denied. After looking into the issue myself, I discovered that my orthodontic insurance had been submitted as secondary insurance when it should have been submitted as primary. This has created yet another complication that I am now having to deal with while trying to transfer my care. I started Invisalign expecting professional care, proper management of my treatment plan, and an improvement in my teeth and bite. Instead, I am now dealing with a visible gap, crooked teeth, an improperly aligned bite, jaw pain, repeated scheduling delays, billing issues, insurance complications, and difficulties transferring my case to another provider. What should have been a straightforward orthodontic treatment has turned into an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience.

This is after she put a crown in a few months back, over a cavity. Dr. Mackler once commented to me that she moves very fast. She moves so fast that she advocated me going to a place she said she uses, to remove a tooth which was not loose and was not bothering me and maybe could be saved. I found a five star dentist who specializes in challenging crown situations and yesterday, he performed a successful surgery to remove the cavity and seal up the crown. He said when he got in there, that the cavity wasn't that bad and the situation wasn't all that dismal. Dr. Scolar had told me that if I didn't pull the tooth out that because of the cavity, I might die of an abcess. I feel that her emphasis on moving fast without empathy or connection to the patient is not at all helpful and I am now changing dentists to the dentist I found her expressed both understanding and compassion.

(Remember the old adage, those who can do, and those who can't teach). His website also states "While at The University of Connecticut, Dr. Cordes received numerous research grants and awards in the field of healthcare economics." That's right, research on the money involved in Orthodontics. Why would a doctor blatantly showcase that he is out for money instead of out to help his patients. That's a bit chilling to think about. This search for profit over caring for patients is also shown in the number of offices he has, three. Yes, Dr. Cordes has three offices (Westfield, MA, Enfield, CT and Suffield, CT.), and only one Doctor, himself. While many Doctors do hold two offices, I feel three is pushing it in terms of good care for patients. This large number of offices fits his profile of looking for profit. Doctors for the most part work hard to earn their degree, and then work hard to maintain a good practice, but in Dr. Cordes case, he is a man solely out for profit above all else. When it comes to Orthodontic treatment, Dr. Cordes seems like a fish out of the water. At the end of treatment, there was still spaces between teeth, still a bite that was not even close to perfect. Some of his staff changed hands a few times during the time going to him, so I wonder why the turnover in that area as well? While he is nice, pleasant, and outgoing, his technical skills in treating orthodontic issues are very lacking. I came across another former patient (whom I attended school with) who was also less than satisfied and not at all thrilled with her results from Dr. Cordes. What a pattern. Do you really want someone who puts profit above his patients well being? Take a look at Dr. Cordes's record before you choose him for treatment, both his academic record and his professional record show a man out for profit, rather than a Doctor trying to make a difference. My recommendation is to find someone else who is more qualified to provide quality orthodontic treatment, because you won't find that with Dr. Cordes. You will find three offices you can go to, and a desk that is always happy to take your money.
