EMA Dental in Northampton provided truly heroic service, bonding my front tooth back together after it suddenly broke last fall. They didn't give me time to panic. They fit me in the day after my tooth broke, and in one visit, bonded it back together, seamlessly. I have since transferred my all of my dental care to EMA dental. Westfields office, Dr Polo and Sarah were great. They are the best. Did however run into an issue at the front desk. They informed me I had a significant credit balance but could use it to cover my next appointment. Weird that they seemed to have this for months and this was the first they informed me of it? When I ask for the credit to be refunded to me they provided me a debit receipt to sign. Not a credit memo. When I questioned it, the office manager jumped up and came over and scribble "credit" on it and initialed it. Seems that a group this large would have appropriate standard work for credit. Their response was; this was all they were provided by ????? Not what should be expected from "Best of the Valley". Dr Polo and Sarah however still are the best. The front desk and their business practices are clearly lacking and need some improvement. read more

I cannot recommend this practice. While they were covered by my dental insurance for preventive procedures they referred me to another dentist within their practice for a specialty. If you make the false assumption as I did that they know your insurance and your coverage and will surely tell you in advance that none of this is covered, you would be wrong. read more

EMA's Northampton location is a fantastic office! The office is clean and fresh. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks ago when I had some tooth pain and suspected that I might have a cavity. I met with Dr. Cohen who reviewed my Xrays and determined that I had chipped tooth, but didn't necessarily need any additional work. She left the decision up to me. I ultimately decided against further dental work, but very much appreciate Dr. Cohen's gentleness, kindness, and her honest approach that didn't pressure me into getting unnecessary work. I never been to this Dentist. I talked to a woman on the phone and she was very pleasant. Took my info over the phone and told me to be there for 8:20. I got there at 8:10 I wore a mask and started to open the door and some woman with no manners what so ever yelled your supposed to call first. Really?? You would think they would of told you this prior to the appointment. No one mentioned it to me. Then I was told to use the hand sanitizer and move my bangs for a temperature. Then she yells to the other women working there this one has an ATTITUDE!!! Then she continues to humiliate me in front of the other women in the office. So, I decided right there that this isn't how I wanted to be treated. Being a Senior Citizen and be treated so rudely. I just left. Never got passed the sitting area or never saw the dentist. Do not go here unless you wanted to be quoted ABSURD prices for minor procedures. That in itself is not worth 1 star. However, when told that the price was too high for my budget, the employees had the audacity to reply with "Do you have parents that can pay for it?" First of all, no, I don't. Second of all, if it was an emergency or necessary procedure then I could probably find a way to make it work, but certainly not going to burden others with $25,000 veneers when all I wanted was bonding on two teeth. I had an emergency a front crown broke last night. I called EMA this am. They got me in today at the East Longmeadow office with out hesitation. They know I am a stress case, they were so kind professional, friendly. I just love this office and the kind professional staff, from the front desk back. Everyone made me feel at ease, Chris conveyed my concerns to Dr. Mariano, Sarah was right there, Amy popped in. Even Dr. Mariano's daughter Dr. Mariano stopped in to check on the procedures. I had a terrible experience at EMA Dental. They don't listen and they don't make the charges clear in advance. They tried to convince me to get crowns on my 6 front teeth, which is not what I want, and other dentists agree that it is not only unnecessary, it could threaten the health of my teeth, which have short roots from previous orthodontist work. Also, they made it seem like this was a consultation and that my insurance would cover the x-rays and impressions -- things I told them I didn't need, but they kept pressing and said it would be better to do it while I was there. I feel like I went to a used car salesman instead of a dental professional. read more

I went to this practice a few times. Their prices are really high compared to other dentists in the area from my experience. I also had a front tooth fillind done that broke within a few months. I had paid over three hundred for the work as they said my insurance wouldn't cover it. Once it broke, I went to another dentist who said it was done incorrectly and billed my insurance a little more than two hundred to fix it. My insurance paid the requisite percentage. The work has held up for quite awhile now. I also don't get the friendly staff comments as every time I went into the office there were at least three employees standing around the front desk chatting away. It was like I was disturbing them. A neighbor used to work there and is the one who recommended them to me. She cracked up laughing when I said they were more concerned with conversation than patients. While I do feel the services were good, the provider does not abide by the insurance contracted rate. I was charged 30% more than the insurance contacted rate, which is a considerable amount. I was not told of this increased amount until the very last minute, making it difficult for me. If you are not concerned about the cost, this is a good place to go. If you do not have extra cash, I would go somewhere else that charges the insurance contracted rate. Other places are equally good and abide by the lower rate. read more

My review is based on the Treatment Plan Dr. V. Mariano wrote for me at a cost of $ 680, which included plaster models, consultation and 3D CT scan, priced at $ 425. The latter cost significantly less elsewhere. IAll diagnostic materials were valuable elsewhere; not all clinics can open all CT scan software. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful including long distance follow-up. I appreciate the thoroughness and obvious technical know how of Dr. M.: Examinations, bite analysis, explaining sequential treatments, costs. I opted to be treated elsewhere because the TP included the use of several metals, (besides ceramic and composites): Chrome alloy (which is combo of metals); titanium - steel; ceramic-Metals have distinct electrical charges. I was not offered Zirconium (a biologically inert material). Today BIO COMPATIBILITY is scientifically recognized decisive factor in overall health, and success of dental work from simple restorations to implantology of posts and bone grafts. Today wifi exposure, incl 5G tech makes titanium, let alone mixed metals in oral cavity obsolete, dangerous. Online and during many interviews & paid-for consultations in MA and abroad, I learned much about rapid advancements in (bio)dentistry and its role in systemic health. The best investment in one's health is time to investigate the spectrum of ORAL HEALTH, then commit to a TP. After that compare costs. read more

After moving into the area, I searched for a new dentist. This practice was recommended. I submitted my paperwork via email and had my old dentist send in my prior records. When I arrived, they said they didn't have my paperwork or my prior records. I filled out all the forms again (and checked with the old practice, which sent proof that they'd sent my records in). The dentist was extremely knowledgeable and I really liked her, and her diagnosis was right on target (I needed a root canal). She recommended a local ento specialist, but their prices left me in a dead faint! She'd insisted I needed a new post and crown, which would have doubled the price. I drove down to CT, had the root canal done by the top ento down there for $1200 less, and it turned out I didn't need a new crown (another $2000+ savings). When I called to ask that the xray be sent to the CT ento, the woman that answered had a weird attitude about it, as though she resented doing her job (which only involved attaching an xray to an email). This was an extremely disappointing experience. And, to cap things off, I called to inquire about the cost to replace the temporary filling in my crown (post-root canal) and was told it would cost $750. The price I was given elsewhere was $99!!! Great friendly staff. I first went here for the Zoom teeth whitening as it was the cheapest around the area and I am from Easthampton, MA. The atmosphere feels more like a spa to me then a dentist office which is awesome. I recently switched from my dentist that I have been going to since I was a small child and just had my first cleaning. I was surprised to learn about the ultrasonic cleaning that they offer. I heard about it from my sister in-law however never found anyone around that did it. After having my teeth ultrasonic cleaned I wouldn't want them cleaned any other way. I started going to EMA Dental about six years ago, but my husband and his entire family have been going in for all of their dental work and cleanings for years and years. We're all huge fans of Kim, our Dental Hygienist, and make sure to book our appointments months in advance to ensure that we'll get to see her. Kim is always upbeat, professional, and encouraging and I can honestly say that I look forward to my visits with her. Dr. Cohen is our dentist at EMA and she always goes out of her way to make me feel comfortable and well taken care of. She's has a fantastic bedside manner and really makes me feel like my smile is the most important thing in the world to her while I'm there. The folks at the front desk aren't to be overlooked either. These ladies go above and beyond every single time to make sure that my husband and I can be scheduled together for a "double hitter" so that they can better accommodate our busy work schedules. After a string of horrible, traumatic dental experiences, I was understandably anxious about trying someone new. This place is the spa of all dental offices. I was greeted warmly, and when told I'd have to wait a moment, she asked if that would be okay. Then I had the most amazing, kind, funny woman do my X-rays. She didn't rush, or act like I was inconveniencing her. Then Dr Cohen arrived. She was like the archetype of big sister. I was immediately comfortable, she wanted me to list all the things that previous dentists had fail to do for me. She took her time, explaining in detail and in layman's terms why I was having discomfort (last dentist tried telling me nothing is physically wrong, implying it was all in my mind). First time in a long, well overdue, time to the dentist because of moving and military obligation so while eager to get it done, of course I was embarrassed and nervous. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out every staff member I encountered was pleasant and professional. Poor Kari had her work cut out for her but she took care of me every step of the way. The following technicians and dentist walked me through imagery and set the expectations of future visits.
