Kat hosted a private group session for my friends and I in the common area of my buddy's apartment complex. It was a great way to have our friends get together and do something wholesome. My only experience with yoga prior was a Sculpt class at Corepower. I would say Kat's class was similar in difficulty but more personalized in the sense that we received more individual instruction as our levels of familiarity varied amongst the group. She even put some personalized touches by incorporating a couple of song requests into the playlist. It was entertaining watching all of our friends attempt to hit the more difficult poses. I've had the pleasure of taking a class with Kat today. For reference, I'd consider myself an advanced bodybuilder. With that experience, I've already recognized that my biggest weaknesses are my flexibility and stretching. I'd take about 5 minutes each workout to do basic stretching, but nothing intricate or in-depth. That's where I reached out to Kat expressing interest to join her class. I was a little hesitant and quite frankly, terrified of the idea of being in a class of people when my mobility is so poor. I let her know my concerns and she immediately gave me reassurance that she could work with my level of yoga experience (brand spanking new). Fast forward to the group session, Kat started us off slow to get acquainted and mobile. Then she ramped it up and I started SWEATING. If people were on point, she'd give them that positive reinforcement. Words of affirmation! If our form was a little off, she'd gently adjust us to keep us where we need to be. Accountability! We cooled down with lots of rhythmic breathing/stretching and Kat reinforced us with positive thoughts. Despite all the sweating, I felt renewed and uplifted. Is this a form of therapy? As a first-timer, I feared not getting the proper attention I would need as a beginner to experience and enjoy the art that is yoga. If you're looking for a private yoga instructor kat is definitely the choice for you. The reason I came to kat was because of the back pain I experienced due to having tight glutes and hamstrings. I've taken many public classes and they just didn't do it for me since my main focus was to stretch my glutes and hamstrings. I knew it was about time for me to get into private yoga so I could get more attention on the areas that I wanted and I'm so happy that I made the jump. I've taken 12 classes so far and my flexibility has increased drastically. The pain in my back is alleviated and it's such a relief for me to walk around without a constant soreness in my back. We've even got to the point where I can do a headstand! I never thought I could do one but we actually got me to do a headstand! I took Kat's class this past Saturday and it was great! I got into yoga not too long ago and comparing it to all the studios I've been to, Kat's class is one of the best! It was interesting too because not many yoga classes out there include abs. Since yoga is focused a lot on breathing in the deepest parts of a stretch, working out abs really got me to work just a bit more on my breathing. Her song choices are on point as well! It got me to calm my breathing when breathing got difficult as well as keeping my mind at ease with the good vibes.
