TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK We had to put our dog down after he broke his leg while getting a haircut from Kat. Apparently he fell getting out of her tub. He had hip dysplasia and she knew that, he had been here before but we were not aware of the tub (it's hidden out back and we would never have let him participate in that portion if we knew about it) She didn't tell us he fell until we picked him up. She took the money for the haircut. He broke his femur and it would have been an $8,000 surgery to repair. He was 12 years old. She claimed to have insurance. It's been over two months and she has done nothing but blame us for the fact our dog is no longer with us and the insurance she claimed to have, she does not. She has dragged us through enough. I was hoping she would show some decency throughout any of this and she has not. DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR BUSINESS. Happy to provide more details for any interested upon request. read more

Our pomski looks really bad. Very uneven shave job. Tufts of hair are everywhere. The mats are gone but she looks horrible. I would never pay for that! I could have done a better job! The staff is very nice, but I've taken my dog here 3 times and each time she has come home with fleas. My dog doesn't have fleas normally and we work hard to get rid of them after every grooming, only to have her return with them again. I've called them about this to see if they offered a flea dip or anything to help with this issue they created, and they never called me back. Also, depending on who cuts the hair, the transition from head to back isn't always smooth. My poor dog is so flea bitten and itchy all from the groomer. This shouldn't be happening! read more

My mom went to take my teacup yorkie into get groomed and told her to keep her pony long. Kat was out so someone she hadn't seen was in there. My dog now has SHORT hair. She's five and has never had this short of hair. I'm so disappointed. read more

Fantastic service! After being told by 2 groomers in Auburn that they don't accept Shelties because of their coat (weird??) I found this amazing place, so I guess I have those other groomers to thank! My Sheltie was very nervous upon arrival, this was also her first professional grooming (she's 3), but Kat was able to calm her down and get her comfortable. I learned Kat has owned Shelties all her life so I was very confident and comfortable leaving my girl in her hands. Kat and the other groomer there (didn't get her name) were so sweet and really put my mind at ease. She came out about 1 1/2 hours later looking better than she ever has! They even gave her a little bling to take home ;) We're looking forward to coming back and seeing them again! read more

We have a 7 year old 45 lb. Aussie. I made an 11:00 a.m. appointment to have her groomed. Walked in and the 2 employees? were standing there talking, no grooming being done, in fact only their personal dogs in sight. Tried to call and see when she would be done around 2 p.m. and got no answer. Showed up at 3:00 to see how things were going and she wasn't done and they were busy. Went back home and waited more. Showed back up at 4:00 p.m. and she STILL wasn't done! We have been getting our dog groomed regularly since we got her at 8 weeks and NEVER has it taken 5 HOURS and still not have her done! We called them out on it and the lady rudely told my husband to " go have another beer", he doesn't drink! She was still wet when we took her, which makes me think they cut her when she was dirty. The cut was VERY uneven! Stuck in a crate for 5 hours, asked if she had been taken out to potty and of course they said no. I don't know about anyone else but that's not the way we want our dog treated! Obviously we will never go back. A little update, I was accused of lying in this review by someone who supposedly works here. I have no reason to lie. I was told I was a horrible person because of my review. Wow, I guess they have online bullies if you leave a bad review, how sad. read more

I haven't used a groomer in a year or two for my dogs. I am very please with the job they did on my retired show girl, Rosie a Yorkie. The shop is very clean and wide open so you can see the whole work area. Very friendly and easy to talk to. Did exactly what I asked for. read more

My two cats have been groomed by Kat the owner for the last two years. I have followed her from Loomis to now Newcastle. The first time I took them to her I was hooked. She is always pleasant and professional and works with my short notice schedule. There is nothing bad I could say about this place. I am sure my cats could when the come home bathed and shaved......but they always get over it. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! read more

What I like most about this place is how they do their business above the bar. There are no dryers hooked up to cages, you can see the whole deal if you want to. Love what Kat does and how my poochies look after an afternoon at the groomer!!!

Kat has done our kitty's for years. They are both Hemi's and they have long dense coats. One of our girls is chronically ill and Kat and her staff are so gentle and wonderful with them both. They have been groomed since they were kittens and we have never left them alone with a new groomer, having said that we have seen Kat and her staff in action with all the furbabies that they would be grooming that day. They take such love and care of each and every one of them. They know their clients inside and out and will tell you about each of their little stories and lives. They are pretty tops in our book. Yes, sometimes it may take a little longer, but they treat each pet as if it were their own, so that takes time! read more

I took my two Pekinese puppies to Kat Tails because they are close to where I am staying in Newcastle for a few weeks. I have one dog that is MISERABLE to get groomed. I got there a little early and had the displeasure of wactchi g him get his nails trimmed. I have tried to do this at home and he has come close to biting me. They were amazing and got the job done. It took two of them and he fought like hell but they were persistent and tried to be calming. It took like 10 minutes just to cut the nails. He is a great sweet dog but hates getting groomed. They spoke sweet to him and really tried to keep him calm. The cut looks great too! Thank you Kat Tails, we'll be back! read more
