I secured an online reservation last minute, and I am so glad we had the chance to dine here! Mourne Seafood Bar is in Belfast's City Center, next to Kelly's Cellars pub which was bustling at 9PM. Our oysters were brought out in 5 minutes; the mains took 20 minutes. In my experience, the service was standard. What we ordered: -1/2 dozen of natural oysters: This was my FIRST time ever eating oysters. I was pleasantly surprised of how fresh, non-fishy smelling, and non-slimy they were! I tried the oysters by themselves, then with lemon and Tabasco, which I find more tasty as they enhance the flavors. -Beer battered cod and chips with mushy peas and tartare: The cod portion was HUGE and piping hot. The cod was properly cooked, not dried out as other fish and chips eateries. The thick steak fries were crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior. I did not like the mushy peas as a personal preference. -Pan fried fillet of seabass: Absolutely delicious. The seabass was flakey with a crispy skin. Clams were properly cooked. Saffron mashed potatoes supported the fish. It was a hearty and balanced meal. -Rockshore cider: This tastes like your standard apple cider. It is crisp and sweet and does not taste like alcohol. Atmosphere/Layout: It is a very narrow restaurant that can fit maybe 40 diners inside. The tables are very small too. I would recommend having a reservation due to the limited space. It was warm inside, which is nice from the brisk, windy weather. Diners seem to be all locals catching up over a meal and every table around us had wine or alcohol.

A few days before our visit, I emailed the restaurant to book a table and to request a vegan option, as this is predominantly a seafood restaurant and booking in advance is a must, due to its popularity among locals and those who make a special trip to enjoy their locally sourced ingredients. I was assured that the chef would ensure there would be a vegan option available for me, so I was stunned when I arrived to find that they had prepared a vegan menu for me, with a choice of three starters and three mains, any of which would have suited me perfectly. After a lot of deliberation over the amazing offerings, I went for oyster mushrooms in garlic and parsley olive oil, followed by tomato and pimento risotto, with spinach and rocket, then finished off with coffee and mints. This is fine dining at its absolute best and everything was so delicately crafted and perfectly flavoured in a way I have never experienced before. My boyfriend loves seafood and he adores this place, always opting for the seafood platter, which is a mountain of weird and wonderful seafood, which he assures me is delicious. The fish couldn't be any fresher as it's caught right outside the door and everything is sourced locally so that the ingredients are of the highest quality. Campbell's is the nicest restaurant I've ever been in, due to its superior food, staff who make you feel like royalty and perfectly laid tables with hand-crafted cutlery and napkins folded to perfection. Each of the courses where we'll thought out and had very subtle flavours to begin, building to more powerful tastes near the end. A highlight was the compressed apple for dessert, which gave a strong taste of apple leaving a slightly floral note at the end. Overall a very relaxing and gratifying experience. And you'd be right. I am not a fan of seafood so cannot comment on those particular dishes. But I can comment on plenty of other things. The restaurant has went to great lengths to fancify itself but lets itself down with the little things. The staff were slightly brusk, and the toilets were not exactly the cleanest. The tables were poorly layed and my particular table rocked erratically on the uneven floor. All small things granted, but still annoying. We were a party of 11 (one a small disabled child) and the Quays did fit us all in at very short notice so I must give them credit for that. The downside of that is that we were positioned on our own away from the rest of the diners and basically in the entrance hall. And here comes my first real complaint. - Located as we were, we were close to the kitchen and the waiters passed by regularly carrying hot food plates - over my nephews head. Not nearby, not close, but directly over his head. I was not one but impressed with this. But let's move on. The food itself, for those who enjoy seafood seemed to be very pleasing to them. I noted from the menu that their steaks were only available as medium - well done. No rare etc. I opted for the southern fried chicken burger with chips. The burger was very tasty and the chips were terrible. Terrible as in not homemade, hand cut chips. They were the prepacked chips that fish and chip shops use. Only not as nice. Given that they are going for the 'posh' feel, this was an epic fail. EPIC. One of our party was a vegetarian (and still is) and was very disappointed to find absolutely no vegetarian options. Unless you like deep fried brie. Which they don't. So apart from the one unsuitable option, there was nothing. Except chips, which as mentioned before, were simply terrible. I visited for an early lunch and while the doors only open at 12 by the time half 12 came around there were at least 5 tables occupied in the long narrow dining area. I would suggest to book a table if you are hoping to eat at Hadskis post 12:30pm. We were presented with the lunch menu by the attentive staff - there were 6 different choices of meal for £6.50 each but this wasn't basic fare - This was fine cuisine at an unbelievable price. I couldn't choose between what was on the menu so being a glutton I opted for 2 dished form this menu. As Hadskis specialises in seafood I went for the filling Seafood Chowder and the Sardine and caper Caesar salad. In retrospect I should have just gone for the Seafood Chowder as it was extremely filling - although IO 'm glad I got to taste both dishes. I found Hadskis the perfect dining experience - firstly the staff didn't judge me for being greedy and secondly the food was incredible. I will definitely be back.

There were tons of people, both locals and tourists, walking around enjoying the food, drinks and items each vendor had to offer here. The place was alive with live music playing, as well as a school group performing dances in one area and a band playing in another area. The vendors were super friendly and we got to try samples of a few different things before we decided to buy a couple things to nibble on while waiting for our hotel to let us check in. There were a ton of different vendors and at this place, I had one of the best bao buns I have ever had, filled with curry chicken! Prices amongst the vendors seemed very reasonable and I ended up buying a couple cute little magnets one vendor had to offer!

I also got the sun-dried tomato pesto, which I nearly ate in one sitting. If I lived here, I would be at this stall every week! There were some cute stalls with local vendors selling souvenirs, artwork, and jewellery. There were also quite a few stands with cookies, pastries and sweet treats. These all looked really good. On the other side of the market, there was a lot more hot food. They had everything from tacos, mac and cheese and large portions of fries with various toppings. We waited to be seated but there wasn't anyone to seat us. We waited far too long and when the waitress - the older of the only two waitresses serving/ arrived. The greeting was flat and almost felt like she was being put out. She arrived just in time as the barman was about to seat us. I've eaten here hundreds of times over the years. I ordered oysters as a starter only for the waitress to return a few moments later to confirm they had none. Well that's a first. Carlingford Oyster company is a few miles away. So my order became seafood chowder and fillet steak medium. My side dish tobacco onions. My son also ordered the chowder which for the half lifetime I've been eating it here has been superb but not this time. We each knew it wasn't as rich and deep flavoured as before and we were really disappointed. This is one of their finest dishes and we really hope this is a one off. If it happens again we'll send it back and have it off the bill. The price charged means it must be ace every time. I asked for white pepper for my chowder the availability of which was uncertain and when it arrived the younger waitress said I was lucky. If white pepper isn't always available just close. It's not as important as salt is to cooking but it's great for seasoning. I often choose it over black pepper almost always. My fillet was requested medium and it came with a pepper sauce that didn't pour but moved sludge like in lumps in short it was gloop; if it had cream it wasn't discernible nor had it evidence of butter. It tasted factory made. One of the corner stones of the success of Fitzpatrick's was cooking based on classic French cooking (Escoffier) and sauces. It elevates their chowder and onion soups and makes sauces moreish - this pepper sauce is far away from this and it's not and nowhere near good enough. If Danny was still there this sauce wouldn't be and no chef would have had the nerve to put it before him. My fillet was well done, medium to well and medium as I proceeded through it. I'm not precious about it and it was tasty good quality meat which I enjoyed. I only draw a line at bloody meat. My son always opts for rare. The tobacco onions were superbly flavoured stand out 5 stars. I asked for English mustard for my steak but it never arrived and the two overworked waitresses were nowhere to be seen. As desserts weren't offered due to their invisibility I got up to pay. There were five or six guests in the doorway waiting to be seated just as we were earlier that evening and no waitress around. The barman took our payment and I didn't tip which I didn't like but I was not happy. I told the barman some of the issues lousy pepper sauce, non delivery of mustard and poor tasting chowder: he said he'd pass it on. Next time I will return food that's not up to the standard I'm used to at the prices charged.

Wheelchair accessibility: there are several disabled parking spots close to the venue and a zero rise entry to get into the building; the doorways are slightly narrow, but they were easily able to accommodate us with a wheelchair at a lovely table. There's also table seating inside and out that would be wheelchair friendly and the bathroom was roomy and accessible.
