Sure wish this was reflected on their website or on Yelp! Not a great first experience. We have been wanting to try this place for a while now too bad it didn't work out. Hoping for another shot someday. Pros: very convenient parking, we got front row.

The restaurant is small, nothing fancy, but pleasant enough, the music in the background not too loud. We started off with cheese curds, which were served in a tall cone. The curds were fantastic, crisp, chewy, and squeaky. We added an order of ranch on the side, and I was really impressed by it; our server said it was house-made, too. For my main dish, I had the chicken enchiladas tacos. Now, I'm from California, and I look at any Midwest takes on Mexican food with a critical eye, but these were really good tacos! My husband had the maple whiskey burger and really enjoyed his meal. I sneaked one of his fries and found it to be delicious. The restaurant was getting really busy about 5:30 as were we needing to pay and leave, so that process was a bit slow, but that is really the only criticism of our stop here. We'd both definitely eat at Common Man again!

It always seems like there is a really relaxed vibe and the low lighting and heated bar really add to this experience. I used to think that The Abbey was just a bar (by no means a bad thing!) but I stopped in for lunch and had a spectacular pulled pork sandwich a few days ago. Dare I say it... The best pulled pork sandwich in downtown Menomonie?! The sauce sounds like it would be weird because there is mustard in it but I can confirm that it is delicious and really makes the sandwich. Props to The Abbey for having a limited menu and having a few really good dishes instead of a bunch of average bar food. Apart from the atmosphere, food and staff there are really good drink specials at The Abbey as well! Every day there is a near unbearable special. When school is in session these deals are definitely taken advantage of by the Stout students. If I had to credit this place for just one thing it would be that the building itself is such a relaxing place. No flashing lights, no overly loud music and no amateur DJ screaming at the top of their lungs like other bars in Menomonie. Even yet, if inside is a little too much you can always step out onto the patio. If you're looking for a relaxed cocktail in Menomonie this is your place.

And just when you think your whole day is shot because the slaw has broccoli (we know that Wisconsinites loathe anything that did not have parents) bam - there's bacon in it! Abbey (from the Abbey) is the coolest Abbey I know. Much cooler than any other Abbey, including Westminster and Downton. My dog enjoys the back patio where she can chill and dream about all the wonderful smells that waft from the kitchen. The sandwiches are amazing. The drinks are made well and the free chaser is like a prize my liver didn't know it won.

Perfect hashbrowns topped with cheese and more than enough to fill you up. If you order pancakes--all you will need is one I'll betcha! We cut ours in half and folded it over and at that point it was about an inch and a half high. Boy does it soak up the syrup--and it's so light and fluffy! The waitress is always ready for refilling your coffee along with the usual good service. It was funny over hearing her say that she hates the smell of coffee because she's around it all day long and doesn't drink a drop off that stuff. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but I found it just right. I'm always intrigued by the map of the Chetek chain of lakes painted on the ceiling--it's been there since 1983. I finally figured out that the perspective and angle I need is as if I was hovering over the building and looking down on a transparent ceiling. Then North is where it should be, with Prairie Lake off to the left and West, while Pokegama is over to the right and East of town. Go for the good food and try not to make yourself dizzy looking at the ceiling!

And so, we ended up here and we're immediately seated! Alyssa took our drink orders, Coffee all around, while we studied the menu and the specials board! My wife decided to get the morning special: 2 Eggs, Sausage Patties, and Toast for $5.50; a couple of us ordered the Bacon Cheddar Omelette with Hash Browns and Toast and added Onions and Cheese to the Hash Browns,; and one ordered Strawberry Pancakes! Alyssa made sure our coffee was filled. As we were finishing up they wrote the lunch specials on the board and we were tempted to just stay on for lunch. Everything was delicious and large portions at a reasonable price. We even were able to say hi to Mary! Definitely check this place out!
