Kate's Day Spa is wonderful! I first met Kate when I injured my neck and continued to see her on a weekly basis since then. She has helped my with a number of injuries, migraines, and skin health. Kate has been an absolute god send and I look forward to seeing her each week. She is the most knowledgeable massage therapist that I have ever met and I will not be going anywhere else in Seattle. I was never much of a massage guy, and I never thought I would feel at home in a "day spa" - but that was before I started going to Kate's! Kate has worked miracles on my chronically tense neck and shoulders, both with her masterful massage technique and with her calming, gentle presence. I am also a big fan of their steam room. I will forever be grateful for the time that Kate and Heather came to the rescue by setting up a last-minute steam for a vocalist friend from out of town, who started coming down with a cold just before an important concert. Kate and staff are top notch. My partner and I have traveled extensively, gotten spa treatments and massage at spas and resorts all over the United States, and Kate is the very best I've ever been to, at any price. Such a blessing this place is in our hometown! We've been going there regularly for over 6 years, and the comfort and quality of service from this neighborhood spa is consistently great. Every massage practitioner there is wonderful & welcoming , very experienced, and understands both relaxation massage and treatment for pain. But that isn't the only good thing here. There is a well-appointed steam room inside, that is dirt cheap to use; a recommended add-on before massage, for sure! In addition to the great service, it is very convenient to do business there. Kate accepts many insurances, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to go for back pain once per week with my insurance. They just implemented an electronic scheduling system that is working very well, so I can check my appointments easily online, and even see openings and schedule! Very convenient, and simple, and non-spammy. I can tell they've spent some effort making their online presence great for clients. The neighborhood in which Kate's is located is very conducive to a nice spa day, as well. After a treatment, I've gotten a refreshing Rachel's ginger beer at Seattle Salads next door, or a nice espresso at Essential Bakery (also next door), or a satisfying post-spa lunch at one of the cute French bistros only a block away. It's not hard to find free parking close-by, either. I think this makes Kate's an even nicer place to give gift certificates for, as well. Easiest 5-star rating I've ever given. read more

I have been going to Kate's Day Spa for over 3 years now for massages. When my insurance changed (from Premera to Regence, which refuses to accept new providers on their massage panels), I tried other massage providers but no one came even close to the degree of relaxation and pain relief I get from one of Heather's (and/or Kate's) massages. So I just go less often and pay out of pocket. Best of all, they are lovely people. read more

I've had several appointments with Heather and I am consistently impressed with what a fabulous job she does. I have a sedentary job and so my back, shoulders and neck are consistently screwed up and in pain. I also lift weights at the gym and am often sore from that as well. Heather really does an amazing job, she's very knowledgeable and has an incredible talent for massage therapy. Yikes! This spa scared the hell out of me. I walked into a dark room with no windows that had a halloweenish, Morticia Adams vibe and smelled- no kidding, like cigarettes. STRONGLY. The receptionist was very unprofessional and there was a little dog running around. I do not recommend! I'm sorry, but if you come to a point where you really need some serious self care and are willing to spend the big bucks to give yourself a massage, the place should definitely not smell like cigarettes, it should be a clean, healing environment that puts you at ease right away- especially considering the vulnerability of the customer in this situation. Ick! I'm sure it could be a great place, if they were to take some basic measures. Come on, Kate's! I ran screaming. read more

I started going to Kate's after a doctor prescribed massage for a shoulder injury and have been going there ever since. Kate and Heather are professional, skilled, and very nice. They are very respectful of what the client wants and of the client's dignity. As a person of size I was a bit hesitant about disrobing and having a stranger handling my body but I instantly felt comfortable at Kate's. They have always been very responsive to requests for appointments and work to accomodate my schedule. The premises are soothing, very clean, but a little funky which I love. Now that I know there is a small indoor parking garage on the backside lower level for Kate's, I am going back more often to this spa located in a popular eclectic business neighborhood that has congested street parking during the day. Though the spa accepts and bills several insurance carriers for prescribed treatments, my doctor tends to be on the ethical side (I have no injuries,etc.) or I would be getting weekly treatments. I love the relaxed atmosphere that can be best described as nurturing. There is a sort of bohemian style and feel to the spa; I prefer the casual feel of this spa to a slick, polished, anticeptic one found in some modern types; there is nothing casual about the treatment which is the consistently best massage I have ever received -- regardless of who is giving it. I have never gotten any of the skincare or wax treatments, but I have gone in for a private steam when a massage was not in the budget; I have taken a friend with me a couple of times, though it is a good idea to call ahead to schedule as there is only one cozy, large, low-lighted steam room and the shower is in it. I have been able to do a walk-in when they have it available. I have put one of the package deals on my birthday wish list for my upcoming 60th birthday!! Gift certificates make this easy to do so there is no reason my birthday angel can't make this happen. Hee hee. The friendly, caring, holistic care I find at this spa is icing on the cake of excellent, therapeutic, relaxing treatment I receive. I miss the lil dog, Maya, who has passed into doggie heaven. read more
