Oh my. I love this place. When I was looking the flavors I noticed chocolate malted crunch. Wait a minute. Is this Thrifty's Ice Cream. Lo and behold I saw the Thrifty sign on the ice cream buckets. Located near the entrance of South Point next to the Starbucks. It's a little shop that feels like an old school parlor of sorts. They have ice cream and smoothies so you can go unhealthy or healthy. I was excited to see that they had Thrifty brand ice cream. They were a childhood favorite so for a scoop of coffee and a scoop of coconut pineapple. The service was quick and efficient so even though the line was long, it went quickly. The ice cream though felt like more ice than cream. OMG, I've been going to Kate's Korner since my childhood days here in Vegas! My go-to is always Mint Chocolate Chip. There's usually a pretty long line on the weekend. They do give you a good amount of ice cream and they're not as pricey as other dessert places in town. The service was decent, but maybe because they're usually busy and it was pretty cool to see one of the guys making the waffle cones. I got myself a hot fudge sundae with chocolate ice cream and my boyfriend had a single scoop of strawberry ice cream in a small cup. I liked my sundae, but the hot fudge ended up on the bottom of the cup rather than being drizzled on top. My boyfriend liked his ice cream as well, despite being full from dinner. The line was long but it wasn't too bad. There were only two people working behind the counter but they were getting everyone's orders out and about very quickly. Kate's ice cream parlor is located in a corner to the right of Seattle's Best! It shares a small dining room with the coffee giant, but for the sweetest of temptations Kate is who you will come visit. Their delicious store is lit up with bright white walls that use those LED bright natural light to convey such a natural and nurturing beautiful atmosphere for the employees and customers. The employees are always smiling and waving to customers as they pass through the coffee line over yonder at Seattle's Best. This was how I discovered the little ice cream shop. The ice cream that they use to design their sweet treats is Dreyers. The menu is very easy and clear to read as you comb through what your going to have and what your future visits will look like! Drool aside it's time to order. Having questions about how they make a sundae, just ask and they will be answered! The employees speak clear and concise when asking about substitutions for certain creations they offer on the menu. On the most recent visit my daughter suggested that we have the Turtle Sundae. This fabulous creation was so delicious. If you can imagine what the Turtle candy tastes like the sundae was a close match for sure, just colder. The sundae comes with three scoops of ice cream, chocolate, and vanilla then caramel and chocolate are drizzled over the ice cream. The chocolate and caramel sauce cover the ice cream all the way to the bottom. Then nuts are added in ample amounts with whip cream and three cherries included. Then chocolate sauce is added again over the whip cream. This is how Kate uses her creativity to make a turtle sundae. It is made to go in plastic containers, but it's so heavy as you walk over to the table after paying. In today's fast world where eating is done usually unhealthy Kate offers smoothies that are available with greens and protein. These drinks are along the lines of a Jamba Juice type drink. The available flavors here include strawberry, peach, and other mixtures that can be blended up. The drinks provide an instant pick me up to help one not grab that order of fries and a Big Mac before dinner. The caloric value of the smoothies is much lower and has fresh fruits and veggies as compared to a heart attack on a bun. The Berry Blast is my go too smoothie, which is rich in açaí berries. Most of the smoothie offerings come with the soft serve frozen yogurt. Their are a handful that do not include this option. The Berry Blast does not have frozen yogurt. For those whom do not care for yogurt or want a truly delicious "health" food option this is a wonderful option. This particular smoothie can be substituted as a true meal replacement and is refreshing. The Berry Blast makes one feel refreshed and alive with a delicious taste made with real fruit. Come try one for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Whether you want ice cream either dressed to the nines with chocolate, caramel, cherries, and whip cream. Or you crave that which is healthy, saw in the form of a smoothie. The smoothies here are delicious and "some" are made with only fruit! Come and enjoy some ice cream either with that special someone or the littles in your life. This establishment is family friendly and will put up with you if needed too. Leilah our cashier made wonderful suggestions and made our drinks with such LOVE. I got the Healthy Morning - Thanks Leilah, this drink is BOMB and quite sweet, I LOVE SWEETS. This drink contains blueberry, strawberry, oatmeal, protein powder (I chose soy) and it also comes with nonfat vanilla yogurt.
