I love this park and so does Sir Buddy! It's run by volunteers so please, when you visit, clean up after your pet and did is and a favor and pick up a little "karmic"poop too (if you see any). Overall, the park is pretty clean add this is how we keep it so -- we all chip in!!! It's a family affair at Muttland Meadows -- no bully dogs, parents, kids, or cliques! I LOVE this park!

I intentionally went looking for this park with my service dog today and I was not disappointed…read more It's a beautiful park that offers clean open spaces, trails, grass, a fenced in area furry large and small dogs, interesting people, and more fun than my little 20 lbs of fur could stand! He's snoring his head off right now after running around like a madman in the small stuff area with his new BFF Charlie the Corgi! He also had fun in the big dog area with Dozer who really wanted to play! It was nice to be around people who were attentive to their fur babies vs walking trails with headphones on ignoring dogs that run wild in wooded off leash parks. I recently had a bad encounter with dogs jumping on me and dashing at my smaller dog. He is my service dog because I have a neurological disorder that causes me to lose my balance and fall. It's really irritating when people let their big dogs dash, run, and jump throughout a park and they are nowhere near to correct the dog. In this park, that can't happen because the area is more of an exercise area. It's enclosed but large enough for the dogs to really have fun chasing, tumbling, and running. The large dog area has a few challenge obstacles inside but nothing to obstruct ball tossing or free play. Within the play area, there are no trees for sugar to hide and dash at the unsuspecting passersby. Every parent can't see his/her baby and hold them accountable for good behavior! Outside the enclosures, there are many trails for those who want 1:1 encounters with their fur babies and nature. I walked the trail first with my dog. We love walking along trails. I give him plenty of time to sniff everything and I let him direct the adventure. Then, we went to the fenced area for some socializing (a.k.a. play). He had a great time and so did I. There are signs up that indicate there are fees to use this park. I'm not sure if that's still the case. So check it out before you go. The gates were up and open when I arrived but if there's a fee, I would say it's well worth it! This park was clean and attractive. It would be a great place for families, couples, singles, disabled, and dogs!!! We felt centered and calm when we left and can't wait to visit again!

The park has a nice pavilion area and clean, well-kept bathrooms, which makes it comfortable for longer visits. Throughout the trails and overlooks, there are several benches dedicated in memory of loved ones. These add a very touching and reflective feel to the experience and make it more than just a hike--it's a place to slow down and appreciate the moment. Overall, it's a beautiful, quiet place for nature, reflection, and lake views, and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

There is a paved trail which isn't too long, but is ADA compliant so that's a plus. We did a three mile loop, checking out the bluffs and taking the stairs down to the secluded little beach. Lots of poison ivy....which is normal to the area, but really it's best to avoid it by staying on trail and covering up. Seemed like leashed and/or well behaved dogs were welcome. Worth checking out.

I had a hard time finding the way back to the parking lot yesterday after a wrong turn and would appreciate some signs pointing you in direction of parking lot, it seems like over time with traffic new paths were created that make the park confusing to navigate which caused me some stress because no one else was at the park at around 6:30 pm when I was trying to leave and my phone was broken. Trails are slippery when muddy, wish paths had surface material like wood planks or pavers installed for safety. With flooding and poor path conditions you should leave phone and other devices you don't want to get water on in car, learned that the hard way on last trip.

It was a pretty hot day and the owner made sure to take breaks and let the pups chill so they didn't overheat. We only played for about 15 minutes but they were tired the rest of the day!

We normally visit during the afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday. I have never seen more than a handful of other people or pups (in the small dog area - where we go). There are several picnic tables and benches, water bowls (all of which have been full with cold water when we get there, but make sure to bring water with you), dog toys like balls and tug of war ropes, and waste bag stations. Roxy loves investigating all of the smells. She's also been so good at socializing with other pups, rather than hiding under mom's feet, and the other doggies have always been very nice to her/us. Kudos to Milwaukee County Parks for maintaining such a wonderful dog park :)
