Dr. Lackner is the best dentist I've seen in years. I tried another dentist but was played by all the fancy tech he used. I was having real gum issues and concerns the prior dentist didn't explain to me what was going. After Dr. Lackner read my medical history and examined me, she gave me straight answers as to what she could do and, just as important, what I should do. Like she said "We're not sharks. We've only got one set of teeth." A deep cleaning by that other guy would have cost $1200. Dr. Lackner did the deep cleaning for less than half the price. At my cleaning she exhibited excellent knowledge and skills I hadn't see from a dentist in almost a decade. Her staff are very courteous and helped me when I had a follow up question. Don't get baited by all the fancy 3D imaging tech some dental service providers are hyping. You want a dentist with knowledge and skills who thinks what is in the best interest of the patient. Terrible dentist and not trustworthy. Failed to renew her contact with insurance and did not notify me. Told me what my copay was and I paid in full. Interesting that on 01/18/20, Dr. Lackner made a comment to my review that said I was always welcome to come into the office and discuss. So I contacted her office by email. Next thing I know a collections company is calling me and telling me that I should deal with them and not Dr. Lackner. Her response sounded good on Yelp, but it wasn't true. I am not fond of dentist and was very resistant to make a visit, but with a very strong recommendation from a coworker, I finally was able to muster my courage to call Dr. Lackner's office to schedule an appointment for cleaning and for any possible dental work. I was really nervous on my first visit but the Dr and her assistant quickly put me at ease, and gave my teeth a good cleaning that it needed. Went here for my dental cleaning. She is super close to home and right off the 15 freeway! Her staff is friendly and she is very knowledgeable and willing to share her knowledge with you so you can take better care of your mouth/teeth. She was very patient and had a calm demeanor. I feel like she would make a great dentist to shadow(if she's open to that) if you're planning on becoming a dentist. If you care about your dental health, avoid this woman like the plague. It is true she has a wonderful bedside manner. She is sweet, funny, makes you feel right at home. It's true she's nothing like other dentists, partially because other dentists tend to at least value their own reputation, even if they don't care about your personal well being. Watch out for the following: -Being lied to about needing procedures you don't need at all. She puts it so sweetly, you'd never think this innocent unbecoming woman could possibly be lying to you and potentially jeopardizing your health and well being. She is greedy and lazy, but comes across as sweet and caring. It's all an act, perhaps she should have become an actress instead of a dentist, for she is quite convincing and far more talented at acting than dentistry. -I have never once received an appropriate cleaning from her. I also have found it odd that she does the cleanings instead of her assistant. Never been to another dentist who did this. You may think it's because she "cares," but it's actually because she's greedy and wants to get paid money that normally the assistant would get. -Being lied to about how much things cost and how skilled (or callous and unskilled, rather) people she will refer you to are. She refused to send my information to the second party whom I wanted to see, I imagine because she realized he would have been honest and told me the procedure she coerced me into getting was unnecessary and highly risky. She told every lie in the book to finally get me to go to the other UNWANTED second party whom she knew would gladly and carelessly do something to my teeth that was not needed, and not even do it correctly. She seemed rather delighted to learn of my suffering, until she realized she could not continue blaming it on non-existent conditions she kept concocting. No, it was due directly to what she and the second party chose to do to my teeth, fully knowing the potential consequence and fulling know it was 110% unnecessary. Now she is trying to blame it all on him. She's the one who forced me to go to him in the first place and she is the one who did the second part of it, so nice try honey, but NO! -She will tell bald faced lies about how much a procedure costs, will tell you the person you want to see charges more than the one she forces you to see when they actually charge the exact same amount (she literally REFUSED to send my dental files to the second party I wanted to see, and told me I would suffer permanent damage if I didn't get the procedure she claimed I needed and that I had only weeks before it was too late. She claimed that a reliable, consumate professional recommended the second party as well. I found out later he HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THE GUY!), she refuses to do necessary procedures citing them as "too expensive" (I guess because she assumes only people who can't afford proper dental care see her?) , then forces and coerces you into getting things done you never needed that can and did have disasterous results!!! She attempted to blame the guy she forced me to go to when I had said I DID NOT WANT TO SEE HIM . She will tell you any lie she can think of to make you get a procedure you don't need. There are so many more awful things about this seemingly sweet, kind, lovely woman that I won't bother to detail, but please know, if you care at all about your teeth or health in general, STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM HER AS YOU WOULD A SERIAL KILLER! She is a complete sycophant and will say anything to make you trust her. And chances are, you will. She is highly conniving, convincing, and a pathological liar. You'd never think so if you met her. She has an "honest face" as some say. Looks can be deceiving. Remember that. I am sure after she sees this review, she will have a bunch of other people write positive ones claiming none of this could possibly be true. Well, quite sadly, it is. If you've been going to her, you should really get a second opinion on all the unnecessary procedures she is doing. She has done a myriad of unnecessary procedures on me, but only the last one resulted in pain and suffering, so I didn't even realize it because I trusted her and never thought someone could be so greedy or callous. How naive. My naive trust is not the problem though, her lies and greed and lack of professionalism are. Her bedside manner is so good because it's too good to be true. Please, my fellow San Diegans, do not let yourself befall the same horrible permanent injury I suffered because of this woman's callous, lazy greed. I am sure if you are a patient you would never believe these things could be true. I didn't either, even though my family would be shocked when I said the types of procedures she claimed I needed on perfectly healthy teeth and tell me I needed a new dentist.
