Dr. Nabai is a superb dentist. Her manager, Vicky, is friendly, attentive and is accessible via phone or email. Natalie did an amazing job at my cleaning and was fantastic at educating me about good dental preventive practices. The office is conveniently located in Palo Alto. The quality of work there is the best I've ever had by any dental office. The state of the art digital X-ray and photography equipment puts me at ease. One thing I particularly like about Dr. Nabai is that she is very meticulous and takes the time needed to make my things perfect. She has NEVER recommended anything I don't need and always discusses the treatment plan and cost before any work has begun. I recommend this office without hesitation! PS. Regarding the handshake comment from another reviewer: I want my dentist to have great hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Sarah Nabai, dentist, is the absolute best dentist I have ever been to. I have been to the dentist when Living in Paris. I have been to dentist in Brazil. I have been to dentist in Mexico. I have no complaints with Dr. Nabai's dental work, but I did have a negative experience with her team. Both when I made my appointment and when I checked in for the appointments, I confirmed with the receptionist that the office would accept my insurance for the procedure I needed. After I had work done and received a bill that my insurance would not cover, I followed up with the office and was told that "we would have never told you that your insurance covered this." As I was working with the insurance company to understand costs I was responsible for, the office routed my account to a collections agency. I was disappointed with the unprofessionalism and miscommunication from the office staff. read more

I was originally a patient of the late Dr. Ronald Gordon for nearly 30 years. He was a wonderful, caring, personable and patient oriented dentist of the highest standards. His attitude toward his profession was shared by his long term assistant, Jobella. I continued frequenting this office, through 2014, as a patient of Dr. Nabai, after she took over Dr. Gordon's practice. Jobella has been long gone. A virtual army of dental hygienists, assistants and front office people have come and gone. So has the personal care ethic practiced by Dr. Nabai's predecessor. Dr. Nabai is often nowhere to be found. She seems heartless and cold and her subordinates seem to perform nearly all routine work. My most recent and final visit to Dr. Nabai's practice, in June, 2014, involved routine x-rays and cleanings for my then 19 year old ADD/PDD son and myself. My son was found to have 5 cavities. Dr. Nabai refused to fill my son's cavities, as he had vomited in her office several years ago. Additionally, she referred me to a local Palo alto pediatrician, without first contacting this other service provider. The pediatrician was not accepting any new patients and only treated patients 18 and under. I ultimately discovered a another dentist on par with Dr. Gordon. This was after contacting several dentists and ultimately receiving a valuable lead. My son had his cavities filled without any problems, whatsoever. Dr. Nabai seems to now focus on easy to treat patients and high end services, including "deep cleanings." Her preoccupation is earning as much money as possible, while providing the least amount of reciprocal care. From research, I learned that it is a common dental practice money making scheme for front office and other office personnel to recommend high cost services for which bonuses are received. Many auto care services use the same scheme. read more

I love this office! Everybody, including the doctor herself are very polite, professional and very nice. They were able to fit me in a week after I called, which was awesome. They were even willing to open up the office for me on President's Day so I could come in (I had to decline, since I am going to be out of town). I came in 15 minutes earlier than my appointment time to fill out insurance information (they take Delta Dental, which is what I have). They were very on time with my appointment- which was at 10:30 and I got seen at 10:35. I came in for full xrays, an exam and a cleaning. They got me in and out of there in an hour and a half. The technology Dr. Nabai uses seems very up to date and modern, they had an xray machine that took the xray and displayed it on the computer screen in an organized matrix. She also used a small mounted camera to take pictures of my teeth and used software to save those photos to my file. The cleaning itself was pretty painless, since the technicians use an ultrasonic cleaner (so much better than being attacked by all those metal tools!). They all used a intranet-type software to access my files and record different bits of info about my teeth and gums, as well as schedule my next appointment. Left with a toothbrush and sensitivity toothpaste. No cavities this year! I'll be back for my cleaning in 6 months. An extra bonus: She graduated from Umich! Go Blue! :) Edit: Just got my claims sheet and apparently taking pictures of my teeth with the mounted camera cost $89. Not sure if this was part of the complete oral exam (it was under "orthodontic diagnostics") but it was unexpected. Insurance didn't cover all of it either, so I had to pay $38 out of pocket for digital pictures... read more

Love love LOVE Dr. Nabai and her friendly staff. My hubby and I found her office by chance through Yelp and are so lucky we did. I cannot say enough amazing things about this office. Here are just a few reasons why they rock: 1) They've got state of the art equipment in each room so you can see your x-ray photos right on the screen in front of you, schedule your next appointment right from the dental chair, and watch a DVD during your root canal! 2) I've never had to wait in their waiting room very long, which in some ways is a shame because they have a pretty good assortment of gossip mags. ;) 3) They've handled everything from cleanings to cosmetic whitening for my wedding to crowns and are always super attentive to make sure you are comfortable and feeling as little discomfort as possible. 4) They have PARKING! Dr. Nabai, Roya, Claudia, Vicky, Natalie and the gang actually make going to the dentist fun! They really care and I enjoy when it's time to go see them. By far my favorite dentist ever!! read more

I was a patient for probably 5 years and recently switched. I had gone to Dr. Gordon previously and when Dr. Nabai bought his practice, I just stayed. I changed dentists after my last visit, when I told her that I was recently diagnosed with celiac (severe gluten intolerance) and she did not know what it was. People with celiac are more prone to cavities because pre-diagnosis, they are not getting the nutrients their bodies need. I was one of these types. I was floored that with the proliferation of gluten free products at the grocery store and news coverage celiac has had, she didn't know what it was. Just made me wonder what else she doesn't know. read more

I chose Dr. Nabai because of Yelp recommendations, and she is in-network with Delta Dental. I had a chipped tooth and needed immediate help. Vicky was very helpful in finding an appointment for me the day after I called. She also clearly explained my insurance situation so that I can have everything done and billed before switching to my husband's insurance. My first visit with Dr. Nabai was a consultation to determine what to do about my chipped tooth. The chipped tooth turned out to be a much bigger problem, root canal and crow. Just the thought of root canal is scary enough; working with a new dentist can also be scary. I was extremely satisfied during my second visit. I felt no pain or discomfort during the 3 hour procedure. Dr. Nabai explained each step clearly, and I was distracted with a movie. So the 3 hour seemed to fly by painlessly. And I had no pain after the procedure. The scary thought of getting a root canal is actually less scary than getting a cavity filled. read more

Please only come to Dr. Nabai's office if you're looking for an incredibly professional, incredibly diligent, incredibly efficient, and incredibly talented dentist and accompanying staff. She's fantastic and her staff is incredibly professional. Everything she's ever done has turned out great: I've had multiple crowns done. They turned out great and they were harder than usual. Why? Because she corrected previous shoddy dental work that literally began chipping apart. I've had fillings--all were perfect. Final, after having a child, among other fun surprises, my gums started receding. As usual Dr. Nabai was incredibly diligent, her recommended regiment (of minor changes) actually worked. I would (and in fact do) recommend Dr. Nabai to all my friends and family. But, again, only go to her office, if you want professionalism, expertise and efficiency. read more

I've been going to Dr. Nabai for about a year and a half now. She's the best dentist I've ever had. Very good at her job, but also extremely nice, which counts for a lot with me. She and her staff give advice without talking down to you and offer workable solutions (not just saying "be perfect or you're doomed!"). She doesn't rush into recommending additional work; she waited to see me a couple of times before saying for sure that she recommended having my wisdom teeth removed. The dental surgeon she recommended for that procedure was also excellent. I would recommend Dr. Nabai to anyone needing a good dentist. read more

I've been going to a variety of dentists in the bay area for about 6 years, and never found one that I thought was really good, until I joined Dr. Nabai's office. She has a very patient and methodical manner. In terms of discomfort, I've experienced less discomfort here than any other dentist I've been to. Her assistant, Jobella, is a hoot, constantly telling jokes and lightening the otherwise dreaded and serious atmosphere of most dental offices. Conspicuously absent from the office is the usually flowery look that is common in other offices. Dr. Nabai instead goes for more modern decor, with soft classical music in the background. The only downside: I've been encouraging Dr. Nabai to put up a "Mouth of the Month" in her office with my picture on it.... No luck. I know, it is SUCH a great idea. read more

Dr. Nabai was recommended to me by a friend that has been a patron for the last few years. I'd been neglecting getting dental care for years, and finally decided to put my Delta Dental to use. A little background: I've always hated getting any dental work done because without fail, I would leave with incredibly chapped lips, and a hurting mouth. Some dentists just can't make a simple procedure comfortable for you. Visiting Dr. Nabai's office was the most pleasant experience I've ever had getting dental work done. They are all very friendly, and Dr. Nabai was incredibly careful. She has small, very controlled hands and I felt zero discomfort. They also explained things about personal dental care that no dentist had ever taken the time to teach me about. It turned out that I had a few black spots on my teeth that needed some work done. She used a small device to put a view of the teeth up on a screen so I could see exactly what the problem was, and explained what happened and why I needed to have it fixed. They don't try to push procedures on you, rather they try to give you a fantastic experience so that you will spread good word of mouth advertising for them. That's how I discovered this practice, and my experience is what makes me want to share it with others. All in all, they took a guy who hated getting dental work done, and made me perfectly willing to schedule every checkup and show up for it. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

I recently relocated to San Diego from Cambridge MA and am so happy I found Dr. Nabai and her staff! I had visited another dentist in the area and was diagnosed with having several cavities and told I needed deep root cleaning. It turns out, I only have one cavity and do not need deep root cleaning at all! Dr. Nabai has proven to be competent, honest and meticulous in her work. Like many people, I hate going to the dentist. I have terrible teeth, so it was important for me to find someone who would be the most helpful in my situation. Dr. Nabai is a straightforward dentist and very meticulous with her work. When I first visited her, I had a pretty crazy mouth situation going on, but she took it in stride and came up with a dental plan. I'm very happy with the service she provided. I have extensive dental work, but all of my appointments went very smoothly and she is extremely encouraging. I saw Dr. Nabai a few years ago and was told I had 4 cavities which needed to be drilled. I was surprised and got second opinions. Both other dentists disagreed and said this was overly aggressive treatment. Years later without fillings the teeth have had no problems. Dr. Nabai is a perfectionist--and that's exactly what one wants in a dentist! I needed an implant for a missing tooth, and she ordered the "part" from the lab. After trying to install the new tooth, she was not happy with the way that it fit, so she sent it back to the lab with explicit directions about how they should craft the new tooth. Again, the lab did not follow her instructions, and the tooth did not meet her expectations so she has switched to a new lab. She said that, if necessary, she would go to the lab in person and sit there while they made the tooth just the way she wanted it! I did not even read the Yelp reviews before scheduling - I chose Dr. Nabai based on my insurance providers and proximity to my home, but now I can see why people love this practice. I've been looking for a trustworthy dentist for a while. Sarah's quality is top notch. I've never had such smooth cavity fillings before. The receptionist Deanna is very friendly. I had a molar which had a big hole from a cavity filling (prior dentistry) that fell out. It was a borderline crown vs filling decision.. and the fact that Sarah chose the filling was quite honorable. Most practices would have went with the more expensive crown. read more

I was a little apprehensive when Dr. Murphy moved and sold the practice to Dr. Nabai. However, this proved to be an unnecessary concern. I still see the same superb hygienist, Lynelle, and Dr. Nabai has proven to be very good. At my last cleaning, I mentioned to Lynelle that I was sorry to have missed the whitening promotion but she was able to schedule the Sinsational Smile whitening for that same day. My previous whitening experience had only been with the Zoom system which was long, rather uncomfortable and not that effective or long lasting. The new system did leave a sore spot for a couple of days, however, I attribute that to my not asking for a tray adjustment during the session. There was somewhat of a burning sensation on my lips but it was no worse than what you get eating Buffalo hot wings... I will be interested to see how long this whitening lasts as I drink a lot of tea - the very reason I require this treatment. The take-home whitening pen may be just what is needed to maintain the effect until the next cleaning in 6 months. read more

I have been looking for a reliable dentist for a while and have tried 3 in the last couple years. (I want a dentist who uses current technology, clearly explains issues and options and who is not always suggesting other expensive things to do to me.) Dr. Nabai was covering for one of the previous dentists 3 years ago when I had an issue while he was on vacation. She quickly saw me, assessed the problem and got the process of repair started. Based on the positive experience, I gave her a try as my regular dentist when the last one proved to be a used car salesman. I have been there 3 times since switching. Each time she's been professional, focused on me and what needed. She explains what needs to be done and the options. Besides providing great, precise dental care, I really appreciate how Dr. Nabai's office manager gives you a printed sheet explaining the charges you are about to incur, with full detail about what is covered by insurance and what your out-of-pocket expenses will be. I've had other dentists who have done a lot of work without explaining beforehand that it would cost me thousands of dollars. If only medical doctors did this. read more
