DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT W/ DR. ZARATE. You are far better off going to a professional and competent eye doctor in Glendale. Dr.Zarate does not care to update her practice in 2025 or take proactive steps to rectify her practice's wrong and ensure other patients don't fall victim to her negligence. Dr. Zarate is listed as a provider under my insurance. The receptionist booked an appointment for me ONE MONTH out and said Dr. Zarate took my insurance. The receptionist called to confirm my appointment the day prior. I went to my appointment after requesting time off work in advance and they said she doesn't take my insurance. I told them that contradicts what your receptionist who booked this appointment said. Dr. Zarate is listed as a provider in the provider list my insurance had physically mailed me along with my insurance card and that she is currently listed as a provider on the insurance website. They said she use to take that insurance but not anymore. Knowing this was the only day I could take time off work to go see an eye doctor and knowing that all I required from this appointment is for the doctor to simply sign off on the same eye contact prescription that I have had for 14 years, I said how much can I pay out of pocket to get her to sign a new prescription so I can buy my yearly contacts (which was the entire point of my appointment) she said $250 :) These people did not want to work with me on fixing THEIR mistake, nor did they sense the urgency in my visit or even bother to apologize. Did they say they would fix this with the insurance, so that it wouldn't happen to another patient? Absolutely not, because they don't care if it happens again. This practice is stuck in the dark ages along with the archaic and filthy waiting room chairs. To finish off the rude and unprofessional interaction the woman told me I had to pay $2 for validation. How insane do you have to be to bring someone to your practice to not see them and at the end ask them to pay for parking for THEM wasting your time and money. Avoid going here. read more

I rarely write any reviews, but my experience today justifies it. My appointment was at 3:45pm. I get there, pay my co-pay, and wait 45 minutes until my name is called. The receptionist calls me over and informs me that I will not be able to be seen today because my insurance only covers the other doctor at that clinic and not it does not cover Dr. Zarate. I really don't understand why they did not check my insurance when I made my appointment over a month ago, when they called me yesterday for an appointment reminder, or when I first got to my appointment. Instead, they charge my copay and then wait 45 minutes to figure this, and then tell me I need to reschedule. After all that, they were not able to squeeze me in for an earlier appointment, instead they give me an appointment an entire month out. I'm extremely disappointed and wasted a lot of time for no reason. read more

I was told by the staff that since I called to rescheduled 3 times in 2023, they will implement $40 charge for 2024 for any rescheduling. It's not even a no call no show, and it's a ridiculous system they set up. When I was there for a scheduled appointment and had to wait for over an hour to see the doctor. There's no reimbursement when they're late to their schedule. I don't recommend this place due to their business practices. read more

I have seen Dr Zarate for about 4 years now since she bought our local optical shoppe. This year I saw her and she changed my prescription changed and I couldn't wear the glasses. When I called to get an apppointment because she has very limited hours at this office I could not get an appointment for 2 weeks at a very inconvenient time. I had to miss work to do to the appointment without having to wait over another week to get an appointment with her. So I get there and wait and then the optician comes out instead to talk to me and checks the lenses. He says he's going to put it back to the old prescription. I was still thinking she would call me in. Then I realized that she wasn't. I asked why I had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with her and then she didn't even see me! What the heck is that all about? They tell me she wanted the optician to figure if out. When I said I don't understand and that it was upsetting they said well if you want to wait she'll see you. What about her seeing me at the appointment time I had with her? I really don't understand. Total BS. read more

I just love Dr. Kathleen Zarate, she is amazing. Although she's very professional. It hasn't kept her from being warm and caring. She takes the time to give you a thorough examination. Dr. Zarate cares about her patients and about their eyes as if they were her own. Last year, I had major complications from diabetes and was seriously scared because it really affected my eyesight, however, Dr. Zarate showed me so much understanding and patience. My sister has to have cataract surgery and I refuse to allow anyone other than Dr. Zarate do it. Because I know that she will really care about her. Also, the office staff are very welcoming, helpful and supportive and so friendly. The office is always neat and clean. Dr. Zarate is wonderful but her billing office is terrible. They never return calls, they lose payments, send invoices with no breakdown, just an amount. And when you call to inquire as to what the bill is for, they are rude to you. I've never dealt with a billing office that is consistently inept, year after year. I have good news and bad news. Starting with the good, Dr. Kathleen Dennis Zarate is kind, compassionate, patient and obviously cares about her clients and their health very much. She is amazing at her job and extremely professional. When I got my laser procedure she did a fantastic job and I left feeling amazing. Now for the bad news, when I woke up this morning I was petrified at what I was seeing in the mirror. Dr. Kathleen did such a great job, I was shocked by my now incredible vision. I could see every wrinkle on my face perfectly which is a blessing and a curse. Anyways.... 10/10 recommend and will now be taking my daughter to her as well. read more

Dr. Kathleen Zarate was the second doctor I took my 1 year old to see. She was amazing! The wait time wasn't too bad only about 30 min. She took her time to exam my daughter very thoroughly despite of my daughter crying and being restless. She genuinely cares and is an incredible person, it doesn't take a clinical social worker such as myself to notice it. She will be the Optomologist for my family should we need to go back. Very friendly staff, clean office and great customer service. They even validate your parking. We are very pleased by her care, professionalism and non-invasive interventions for our toddler. read more

This is for Dr. Park in the office. Since I recently received a call from Dr Zarate saying that I did not see her.... there is not an option for ZERO stars. GRRR! I came to this place to get my eyes checked in 2007. I got a prescription for Acuvue contacts. A few months later I am trying to refill my prescription on 1800 contacts. Low and behold, guess what 1800 contact tells me. WE DO NOT CARRY YOUR PRESCRIPTION IN ACUVUE. The optometrist thought it would be funny to give me a prescription that can't be filled because Acuvue DOESN'T EVEN MAKE CONTACTS in the prescribed powers of the bullshit rx that I received. After a whole lotta wasting time corresponding with 1800 contacts, we figured out the optometrist plain f*ed up. Go and do your due diligence before prescribing people stuff that doesn't exist! It's like giving me a prescription for catepillar turd. read more

I searched on the internet for information on all of them. Dr. Dennis-Zarate came up with rave reviews on the most platforms so I booked an appointment. Polite and professional office staff. Polite and professional nursing staff. Easy parking (paid, but easy). And the doctor was terrific. Looked at all of my old glasses, listened to all of my concerns, double-checked me for hereditary issues, even reviewed my vitamins with me. Very very impressed! read more

Dr. Dennis-Zarate has seen my mother for diabetic eye care in routine bases, and cataract. My mother had cataract surgery and the results were great. Dr. Zarate did surgery on my son both eyes when he was still a 4 years old. She did an amazing job and was able to fix his eyes in almost 90%. The remaining 10% she said would be fixed by using glasses and this is happening. My son is now almost 14 and his eyes is almost fixed. I am not living in Missouri but I am spending 1500 in fair tickets + hotel just to take my son to see her. I strong recommend her for everything including surgery. The best eyes doctor ever. Dr. Zarate is someone who my parents have gone to and now I also go to. Sometimes there is a wait in the lobby area, but let be honest, what physician doesn't have a wait. Dr. Zarate saw me on an emergency appointment because I developed a cyst on my eyelid, it was awful. She examined me, let me know the course of treatment, and what we can do moving forward to try and prevent this from happening again. Really loved Dr. Dennis-Zarate and her staff. I brought my daughter in on a Thursday and we had an amazing experience. We were going to get contacts and were told we would be called early the following week. It is now been over a month and I have called many times. I cannot get the department responsible for fulfilling the contact prescriptions to return my call. Very disappointing. I thought we had found the perfect fit. I found Dr. Zarate online as I was searching for a pediatric ophthalmologist, and I'm so glad I did. When I first called, Remy (front desk) answered all my questions and was extremely kind and helpful. Dr. Zarate only sees pediatric patients once a month so make sure to schedule in advance. The place is easy to find, and there is a structure for parking (that you pay for) but be aware that there are many medical offices in that area so be sure to arrive early to find a spot. When we arrived at the office, there was plenty of seating and even space for our umbrella stroller. Remy was extremely kind once again and got us all checked in, in a timely matter. We didn't wait long for my daughter's name to be called and the nurse who brought us back was also very kind and patient with my daughter (2 years old). Dr Zarate herself was amazing. I had a few concerns and she listened very well and answered every question. She was very thorough and explained everything well. I wish I had read the reviews before going. I had a good experience with my eye exam from Dr. Dennis-Zarate, but then I received a bill that I should not have received. My insurance company confirmed that they had incorrectly billed me and directed me to call their office. When you call, you never get a person, so you have to leave a message. I have been regularly calling and leaving messages for 10 months with only one call back (they left a message and, of course, when I called back, i had to leave a message that was never returned.) Couldn't be Happier with the employees and location. Dr. Dennis-zarate' staff did not keep me waiting and we're helpful and nice. Dr. Dennis-zarate is knowledgeable and took her time with me. She didn't rush me out of her office. I first saw her with a somewhat emergency situation (dish soap in my eye) and was able to get a same day appointment and was seen at my appointment time.
