She's a board certified opthamologist with ivy league credentials: Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University and residencies at Duke and the Sloan Ketteting Institute associated with Princeton. I contracted acanthamoeba keratitis from swimming in the ocean and every provider missed the diagnosis...UCLA, USC, Huntington Hospital,Glendale Adventist Hospital including several local opthmologists. They all thought it was an eye infection. On my 1st visit to her and after seeing all the above providers, she said acanthamoeba keratitis is all it can be. She hoped she was wrong but said let's start treating for that until we get a diagnosis. By that time my eyes were pomegranate red and I was fast going blind. Fortunately, she was correct but unfortunately I was now blind. She caught it before my optic nerves were damaged. This is a rare condition that is only diagnosed on a hunch. It required corneal punctures and microscopy of my eyes to confirm it. I was sent to UCLA Doheny Eye Institute for the corneal punctures and they sent back a report of inconclusive. Dr. Fuerst said inconclusive isn't good enough. Finally, aided by confocal microscopy they could see those critters swimming in my eyes that had been eating my corneas. On the first visit she called a compounding pharmacy to make special eye drops to kill the amoeba just in case it was what she suspected. I saw her twice a week for 6 months. I've since had 1 corneal transplant which have me 20/20 vision in that eye and am going in for my second corneal transplant tomorrow If I hadn't seen Dr Fuerst I would have been permanently blind because she caught this before my optic nerves was damaged. She also procurred an orphan drug for me which would have cost 40k! But, she negotiated with them so I only had to pay $100. Her office is beautiful, the staff caring and responsive. I twice called her on call and she immediately returned the call. I owe my sight to her.

My most recent experience is that she performed Cataract Surgery on both of my eyes....the right eye on March 31, 2026 and the left eye on June 2, 2026. First of all, she diagnosed the vision in each eye. In addition to cataracts, I have astigmatism... one more pronounced in one eye than the other. Then she explained the options of various lens implants available to correct astigmatism at the time the cataract would be removed. She provided a clear explanation of what to expect pre-operation and post operation. Dr. Nesburn has a warm friendly personality and she really listens to what you have to say. That coupled with her years of experience and expertise in the field of ophthalmology made me feel very comfortable, confident, and at ease in preparing for the surgery. I was never nervous about it. The surgery was performed at the 90210 Surgery Medical Center in Beverly Hills. It is a beautiful, cheerful medical facility and the staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Dr. Nesburn greeted me right before the surgery with a friendly smile and again reviewed the surgery process and what to expect. I was amazed at how quickly the surgery went. It seemed like only a few minutes even though in reality it was a little longer. I never experienced any discomfort during the surgery or after the surgery. In fact, after the surgery I went to breakfast at IHOP. During the weeks following the surgery, I did not have any discomfort during the healing process. Most important is that I have my vision back. Dr. Kristin Nesburn did an excellent job on both eyes. She is the best of the best ophthalmologists and I highly recommend her.

I have glaucoma, and must be seen at a minimum of every six months. How lucky for me that Dr. Nesburn became my ophthalmologist! It must be at least seven years. Most recently, I had to have cataract surgery. Not only did the doctor make me feel completely at ease by explaining everything and especially what to expect and hope for regarding my glaucoma, she answered all my repeated questions with compassion and understanding. She called me in the evening after each surgery to see how I was feeling or if I had any questions. Sometimes we have a laugh together. I recommend Dr. Nesburn whenever I get the opportunity.

Dr Kagan not only explained to me why other treatments weren't working, but he explained every step of the way what needed to be done and walked me through my treatment procedure with compassion and full transparency. I just came in for my two week follow up, and the affected area is fully healed and looks as good as new. There is a risk of scarring with the procedure I'd gotten but luckily Dr Kagan is a total magician and my face remains scar-free. Would NOT recommend getting a stye in your eye but WOULD recommend The Kagan Institute to treat it if you happen to get one. Thanks also to the kind and thoughtful staff at both locations who made me feel very well taken care of.

I saw Dr…read more Friedman starting in 2nd grade (1990ish) as my left eye randomly went lazy and I had a crossed eye. He did surgery and I have never had a problem since. I was scared to death and was unconsolable at the hospital and in the operating room. I remember he and his team singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" as I fell to the anesthesia. I stopped seeing him in 9th grade as he had concluded that so much time had passed it was unlikely the issue would return. He also wouldn't prescribe me contact lenses in 8th grade, as he thought I was too young, so it was a natural breakup. I have never had any problems with my eyes since, aside from the usual.

I never needed glasses until my mid 40's to read and see small print. My eyes are getting, like me.....so diet and health go hand in hand. Dr Golbahar is extremely friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable, addressed all of my pressing concerns, and examined me thoroughly. I noticed a floater in my left eye, which she found to be due to a vitreous detachment rather than a retinal detachment. But just to be on the safe side, she referred me to a retinal specialist for a second opinion and also because she felt that a retinal specialist would be able to see 100% of my retina, whereas she felt she could at most see 90% of my retina with her tools. I really appreciated her extremely warm patient care approach and the fact that she really took the time to thoroughly examine me and address my most pressing questions and concerns :) ! I highly recommend her to all of my colleagues and friends :D !! My family doesn't live in West Los Angeles. Otherwise, I would certainly recommend her as well to my family members :) !!

Kept checking her reflexes and told me she has no reflexes in her knees and I said no shit she has knee replacement on both knees she's not going to and I have told you this. She then gave me a list of stuff that could be wrong with her but I'd have to come back in 3 mths to see the md. What was the pt of me seeing you if you can't do your job and I have to wait another 3 mths to see the md. The Glendale office doesn't even have a phone number so you can speak with someone it goes straight to their Santa Clarita office which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. When we left my mom turned to me and said I'm never coming back here again. Don't waste your time and a day off to go here.

During this time I had seen 3 different oncologist in between both hospitals and none of the doctors was as thorough as Dr Shirinian. He requested tests that MLK & Harbor should have done at the initial start of me being diagnosed in which I asked the doctors at MLK to do but they had one excuse after another. Dr. Shirinian is a hands on doctor whom examines me every visit unlike my past oncologists. He's very knowledgeable and attentive to his patients. After being recommended to him by Dr D. Holmes in which I'm very grateful for the both of them, I can finally get a piece of mind to know that I'm in good hands and the best of care now.
