I was referred to Dr Nicole by another Dr. who didn't do the corneal surgery I needed. I liked the front desk situation how the practice is run, in general. Dr Nicole, to me, very detail oriented and confident. I always like these qualities specially in surgeons . I am 1 week out so, this review is for her, my surgical experience as a patient and office. (Not glasses area or other Drs.) Irma was awesome, she handled surgery scheduling and 'go to' person if I needed anything. She was available via phone and email. Loved her personality as well, shes funny and when the paperwork from other Drs was stressing me out, she totally reassured me I want to make a point that the Dr also made herself available and made it clear to me to def call if theres issues or problems. I had to call once after hours, post surgery. I got a call back quickly. Today, I also had to get in touch with her, I chose to email bc it's Friday and not 911. Got response right away. This place double book clients and honestly, isn't the friendliest staff. I've heard good about the Dr but it took over an hour and half for my mom to see the Dr. that's unacceptable. Prepare to wait long when you come here. My mother is 80 yrs old. She can't wait that long and in all honesty... they should allow patients to wait this long. I recently moved from Culver City to Northeast LA and was looking for a new eye doctor located closer to me. My eyes are generally healthy but I like to get regular check-ups to monitor dry eyes and update my prescriptions. I found Dr. Nicole online and decided to take a chance. I can now say I've found my east side eye doctor. Dr. Nicole has great bedside manner, genuinely cares about her patients, and is extremely knowledgeable. Her staff was professional and it is nice to deal with a doctor's office that isn't part of some huge bureaucratic hospital system. The building has free parking and access was very easy. On Wednesday, we went to see Dr. David Fuerst. After a simple examination, he asked, "Why are you seeing two doctors?" I told him that it was the eye surgeon who referred us to him and that the surgeon's office is no longer seeing me. Then he asked for the imaging scans again. I told him that last month he had already requested them and said he would get them from the surgeon's office before scheduling the next appointment. But now, after a month, he still hadn't gotten them. Then he asked for the surgical report of the other eye. I told him that we are currently not treating that eye. He just said, "Okay, go schedule your next appointment." I told him that my eyes are extremely uncomfortable now and asked if he could do something about it at that moment. But instead, he just got up and left. Then the nurse came in and basically kicked us out. Her attitude was terrible and very rude. There was no professionalism at all. We waited for almost two hours, and in the end, nothing was done -- we were just forced to leave. We are extremely, extremely angry. Dr. David Fuerst is an outstanding eye doctor, he has preformed eye surgery on me that I am completely satisfied with his care 100%! He is compassionate and very caring for his patients and I don't understand why the negative reviews, I have been seeing him for years and never had an issue! I seen one review where someone stated he asked why you seeing two Doctors? That threw me because I too see two doctors and he never mention any such thing like that and he know I see another doctor. The worst Opthamaologist I've ever been to! After waiting for several months to get an appointment, and then almost an hour in their waiting room while hearing a patient whining and crying. I should have left then but didn't, and when I finally got called in for my first exam with Dr. Feurst I was treated like i didn't matter at all because I'm old and everyone who's old has cataracts like me. He told me I just need to live with glasses to see unless I can pay $14,000 to have cataract surgery. Then he proceeded to ask if I wanted to see their selection if glasses. It's rare; to find a specialist that is truly attentive and empathetic and Dr. Nicole Fuerst is just that. I visited their office once, as I read reviews and did some research... I've been dealing with an issue on my left eye that has given me with tremendous pain and anxiety and I've had very little to no answers from Kaiser. I need cataract surgery and after meeting with Dr.Fuerst, I was told to meet with a staff member who could answer all my questions and get the necessary paperwork and eye measurements done. The woman I spoke with kept saying, "I really don't know" to my questions so I asked to speak with someone who did know. I got conflicting information and some questions still went unanswered. I asked if they could email me the information and the total cost and let me know whether I needed correction for astigmatism. They promised to send it and to have a nurse call me. I never heard from anybody so I called a week later and was told, "We're working on it." Now it is over two weeks and nobody had either called or emailed. I have found another doctor. I don't think asking the total cost, the procedure steps or what kind of lens I need is asking too much. I perceived a general disinterest from multiple staff members. While waiting to have eye measurements, the woman who was supposed to do the procedure was chatting and laughing with another staff member even though she knew I had been waiting Quite a while. i have no issues with Dr. Fuerst but the staff is remarkably unresponsive and one woman was flat out condescending to me. I recently completed cataract surgery in both eyes. I requested Dr. Nicole Fuerst because she's an impressive young eye surgeon. I'm 68 years old. Nicole's father Dr. David Fuerst is her mentor and he's well respected. But he's my age and, going forward, I'm trying to find doctor's that will be around for several more years. My cataracts were getting worse by the month. My Optometrist is Dr. Stacey Gin of Glendale Optometric Center in Glendale. She's terrific but the yearly change in the prescription for my eye glasses finally hit the wall. We tried to get a stronger prescription earlier this year but the cataract in my right eye just didn't make a difference. Dr. Gin referred me to Dr. Nicole Fuerst. She gave me my options and provided me with a brochure and I watched a video in her office after she did an extensive exam of both eyes. Initially she told me that, of the three different lenses that I could choose from, the middle lense would work just fine. After further research I opted for the multifocal lense which was the most expensive. For the first time in 50 years I don't have to wear glasses. I have an astigmatism. Dr. Nicole Fuerst did say that I "might" have to get a pair of those cheater glasses at the drug story for reading. I actually got the +1.25 cheaters and I only have to use them for the computer at work. I can see without them but the cheaters just make it a little better. Dr. Nicole Fuerst if very thorough and she explains everything. The surgery took place in Arcadia and that was a positive experience. I'm very excited about my new eyes. For the first time in years I can see while driving. It got to the point that I felt like I was Mr. Magoo while driving this past year. The best thing is that I can see the field at College Football games. Kudos to Dr. Nicole Fuerst (and her dad's great too!). read more

He seems to have certain problems with his attention or eyesight or both. When he first quoted me the price of making glasses, I said this seemed wrong, and he double-checked with my insurance, and it was wrong. And he made the same mistake with my husband. Then, when he called me to say that he had charged me more than he should, I thought he was nice. But then, he did not call me when the glasses were ready, saying he did not have the right number. With my child's glasses, he said he called when it was ready, but we never received the call, it could be possible, he might have called, but to a wrong number. Then it came to the frame, and he said he wrote down the number of the frame we gave him, but the frame came out, not the frame we gave him. If everything he said was true, we suspected he might have pulled the wrong frame and written down that number. Finally, he copied our prescription, but while copying it, he copied it wrong, and my husband noticed it and pointed that out to him. read more

A few days after a weird accident involving my eyes, I started having strange sensations in my right eye. It was a Friday, and I was worried about going into the weekend and having my eye get worse. I called several Opthalmologists and Dr. Fuerst's office said they would get me in that day. Although I had to wait in the waiting area for about an hour, I absolutely don't consider that a problem, as they were squeezing me in last-minute on a Friday! They asked how long it had been since I had my eyes looked at and I admitted it had been too long. They did a thorough eye exam, tested vision and everything else. The staff was kind and Dr. Fuerst was patient, thorough, knowledgeable and non-alarmist. I'll definitely schedule with them for my annual follow-up. Thank you! read more

Dr. Fuerst, his staff at the Glendale office, and the staff at the surgery center at which the cataract surgeries were performed are all top-rate: friendly, courteous, and very professional. This last recent visit I was coming into town on a short notice and wasn't able to go to his office in West Covina like I normally do. Was fortunate enough to make an appointment and schedule into his other location in Glendale on Verdugo. Very different atmosphere but same great service from Dr. Fuerst and his staff. Was quickly checked in filled out some general information as well as provided them with my insurance provider. Ordered some new prescribed driving glasses and were shipped home fairly quickly! Very disappointed in this doctor's office. They kept me waiting for 1.5 hours in a very cold office for a follow up appointment. The doctor spent less than five minutes with me after being so late. I thought the follow up would be part of the original charge but then they had the gaul to charge me $66 for basically nothing but wasting so much of my time. I called up to complain and they said the office manager would call me back to hear my complaint but it never happened. Can't recommend this office at all. read more

The first visit went well. But the subsequent work of managers and accountants upset me greatly. They promised to send me all the necessary information about insurance before the operation by e-mail and call. However, nothing was reported. I had to call myself 5 days before the return visit. Then I received a letter "we will provide information to you in 5 days". However, again nothing more. On the day of the visit, I called the office again and asked what the matter was. However, the manager could not answer me about the insurance and the cost of the operation. I had to cancel the return visit. Also, the manager promised to send me the accounting number by email so that I myself could contact the insurance company. But, as usual, a week has passed, and the number has not yet been--terrible attitude. You've lost a client. read more

I was sent to Dr. Fuerst in a quasi-emergency situation from my other specialist's office. In the past six years I have been receiving treatment from eye-care specialists. I first went to Dr. Feurst's office in West Covina, and then for a follow-up in Glendale. My treatment by him in these two appointments has been absolutely wonderful. He combines a highly professional attitude with an obvious sense of personal caring for his patients. The office staff is in the same way phenomenal in the respect and sense of caring with which they treat patients. I met them for the first time in West Covina yesterday, and I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and concern for my condition, which required a brief surgical procedure. I had a follow-up appointment today in Glendale, and was amazed at the welcome the staff and technicians gave me, asking how I was doing, remembering who I was, and what I had so briefly gone through. Dr. Feurst is highly professional and very humane. What I most appreciated was his explanation of every step he took with the procedure he performed, his detailed questions with the follow-up, and the fact that in both my encounters with him I never had any sense of being rushed. He was informative, and answered all my questions. Unfortunately for me, he's not my regular eye specialist because what is going on with my eyes is not his particular specialization--again, this was an unusual situation, and yet he and the staff couldn't have treated me better.
