I travel for work months at a time so I find it difficult to schedule things too far in advance. I…read morehad cracked a crown while on the road and was heading back to Portland around Christmas. I was a new resident of Portland and had not secured any medical professionals in the area before my travel, so I needed to do some research. I found Nuance Dental, gave them a call and they managed to fit me in. Mind you, I was a new patient asking to get in a few days before Christmas! If my memory serves me right, I don't even think they were working/open that day! I was thankful that they made the arrangements to see me and get me comfortable enough through the holiday and to my next appointment. Fast forward, I needed to get in for some work before hitting the road for 3 months, yet again. I did not give them much of a window for time. Initially, there was no way Dr. Cone could see me. This was right after they reopened due to Covid and everyone was making appointments. Then, I received a call and they managed to work something out just days prior to my departure. That is twice now that they have found a way to accommodate me and my schedule. Dr. Cone is really talented and talks you through everything. There is a lot of attention to detail which I'm sure we all can appreciate given its our smile! Both he and Cornelia are kind and easy people to talk to. The space is clean and comfortable and does not have that "doctors office" feeling. I would absolutely recommend Nuance Dental to anyone needing work, a cleaning, whitening, a consultation or other in the Portland Maine area.

When you get there at 8 am They give you a piece of paper saying they open at 730 to check people in . VERY DECEIVING . not worth it unless you wanna deal with probably not being seen or being told to come back . Would almost go as far to call it a complete scam . Fix your website so it says 730 if you are checking people in before 8 am which it says clearly on the website is when they open . Hope no one dies from an infected tooth abcess because of the lack of care .

Yes it does take some time to be seen and it does take some time for all around care to be given but it is a teaching school . The first time I came in to have a feeling replaced and I had a young girl named L and she was absolutely amazing she was going to be a dentist way up north where they have no dentist in that area . She was wonderful . Today I went in yes I got there at 5:30 a.m. even though they only open the doors at 7:30 a.m. but it is a first come first serve basis my experience today was overwhelming my young girl McKenzie took the best care of me and Dr Moyer was absolutely amazing . If you have the patience and you need the care this is where you should go they care they consult and they make sure you leave with a good feeling . Thank you to all of the staff from beginning to end you have not failed me at all since my first visit in March Kelli Krohn

I won't be returning to North Deering Dental because the dental staff I worked with there were…read moreeither reluctant or unwilling to cover their faces with masks while providing my dental care. When I politely asked the hygienist to wear a mask for our visit, she responded "Sure. But it's not mandatory and that's something we embrace here." I stopped short of the entrance of the room's entrance and said that if wearing a mask was an issue I could go to another practice instead. I appreciated that she put one on after that, but the comment was unprofessional. When Dr. Shane Bryant came in, he was wearing his mask only over his chin. When I asked him to put on his mask properly, he told me he was already wearing one. I had to ask him again to put it on properly to which he responded he would put it on once he was facing me. Mind you he was standing right next to me this whole time in an enclosed room. When he left the room at the end of the visit, he saluted me and I noticed his mask still wasn't covering his exposed nose. As I was leaving today I told the admin staff that I wouldn't be returning and explained why. My request for that extra layer of safety was not respected. I didn't want a culture war, I just wanted the medical professionals putting things in my mouth to mask properly. Growing up, my hygienists and dentists typically wore masks and face shields, this was long before COVID. I think it's really shameful that anti-masker types push back so hard against basic human decency. Masking really ought to be mandatory in medical settings still. But at a bare minimum, your medical providers should be happy to wear a mask if you request it. They work for you. As our government and institutions continue to ignore a public health crisis that has taken the lives of millions, the only leverage I have is to take my business elsewhere. Don't let your medical providers disrespect you if you have the option to choose someone else. I usually communicate my preferences ahead of the visit and that usually prevents days like today.
