Can't get in for cleaning. Haven't had a cleaning since pre-Covid and since I'm retired, most dental offices don't take my insurance

Cleanings always leave me with a great feeling and knowledge that I'm in good shape. Dr. Chadbourne always checks in for a brief hello and check on the condition of my teeth! The office is very clean and the decor very calming which I feel is appropriate for a dentist office. For my initial visit I received a thorough examination from both the hygienist and Dr. Chadbourn. Afterwards, Dr. Chadbourn discussed in detail a plan for my dental care - unfortunately due to lack of maintenance there was a bit of work to be done. I appreciated having a plan laid out and expectations set. I have severe anxiety surrounding dental procedures done such as fillings. Both Dr. Chadbourn and her hygienist made me feel comfortable by exuding patience and compassion while they worked on my teeth. I had two cavities repaired and I honestly did not feel a thing - not even the Novocaine shot. This is a great office/dentist to work due to their professionalism, kindness, and technology they use!

They first scheduled the procedure to happen in January 2026, which was several months out from the initial appointment. Come January 2026, the appointment was cancelled at the last minute because the facility where it was scheduled could not accommodate a high risk case like my son's. They advised the procedure would need to happen at the Scarborough Maine Med, where I was told they had the appropriate equipment for my son's care. The new appointment was set for June 2, 2026. Last Thursday, this office called me to secure payment in advance of the procedure (just over $5k). I secured payment via CareCredit. At the end of their day on Thursday (they close at 3 and are closed on Fridays), they called to tell me my sons appointment was again cancelled due to the facility not being able to accommodate a higher risk case. I was frustrated and confused because I was told this was the very reason it was scheduled at the second location. My questions and concern were met with indifference and irritability by office staff at FPD. The woman I spoke with not only failed to place the call on hold properly so I could hear them grumbling about my concern in the background, but then told me the blame was entirely on Maine Health admissions and gave me the number to call them. Then, their office promptly closed. I spoke at length with a wonderful woman at Maine Health who explained to me that this was entirely FPD's error. She escalated the matter to her boss, who confirmed and initiated an incident report. With this, I wrote a message to FPD to express my deep disappointment in the way things were handled. No response. I had my son transferred to Just for Kids in Scarborough and they had him in for an exam this past Monday. He did extremely well with the exam and the bite wing x rays that FPD never bothered to try but claimed my son was incapable of doing (unbeknownst to me previously). The dentist at JFK assured me that not only could they take care of my son without anesthesia well before late August (which is when the appointment FPD offered would've occurred), but that some of the work proposed didn't even need to be done. In fact, with the aid of the x rays, they were able to tell that putting caps on my son's front teeth would not have been beneficial to him as I was told by FPD. The careless attitudes permeating this office are dangerous for a place that serves young children. I'm so thankful I went elsewhere.

With four kids, scheduling can be a challenge, but they always manage to fit us all in on the same day, which is a huge relief. Post-COVID, appointments are booked further out, but that's understandable given the circumstances. The entire team is extremely knowledgeable and exceptionally kind and caring. We're so glad we found this place!

Dentist visit made easy!…read more I despise having teeth work done. The noise, the pain, discomfort...not fun. So, making this appointment was a significant step as I hadn't been to the dentist in quite some time and last time I was living in a different state. I was initially told I'd have to make 2 separate appointments: one for xrays and evaluation, the next for the cleaning. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to do all of this in one visit! Chelsea was my hygienist and she was amazing! Super gentle, explained everything she was doing during the xrays and evaluation and my teeth didn't hurt at all while she cleaned. I was so much more relaxed that I anticipated. Dr. Rose came in and evaluated quickly; I did have to come back for a few fillings...to be expected by me of course. Prices are fair I guess, as I do not have insurance. They do not accept payment plans however. I don't really mind this as I am more than pleased with my treatment and look forward to keeping up better with my dentistry by coming here.

The entire staff of Maple Way is so friendly and helpful, they truly go above and beyond to provide exceptional care. My hygienist does a very thorough job---and on the few occasions when I've had to see a different hygienist, and they have always been equally thorough. Dr. Rose is one of the kindest, warmest people you'll ever meet, and she is truly an exceptional dentist. In addition to standard dental care, she also does some cosmetic dentistry, and she did an incredible job creating crowns for my front teeth, resulting in a smile that I am often complimented on---prior to that, I was very self-conscious of my smile and always tried to keep my lips closed. I truly can't say enough about how happy we have been with this practice. We are now moving away out of state, and are so sad to leave Maple Way dentistry behind!
