I bought a bridesmaids dress 2 years ago (COVID happened, yikes) and I gained some COVID weight in the meantime. My dress didn't fit! I had 1 week before the wedding and I was left freaking out! I called and they said they would take me and have the dress done in time! I got extra fabric from another bridesmaid who had the same problem and had to have her dress adjusted. With this extra fabric they had the dress done the next day and it fits perfectly! You can't even tell it was altered to be bigger. Listen, I'm 4'11. I get just about everything I buy altered in some way. With that being said, I think the pricing of this place is excessive. Up until I moved, I was going somewhere regularly down in San Diego for years (Sew Elegant) I never paid more than $12 to get something hemmed UNLESS it was double lined or leather. Don't get me wrong, I've had work done here three times? In those instances it was a formal, double lined dress and another time a double lined pair of trousers that I needed done asap so I understood why it cost more. However, recently I brought in a pair of polyester pants to hem up..she wanted to charge me $35?! That's how's much the pants cost me initially. I couldn't wrap my head around it. Each time that I've come in I've ended up paying far more than I expected for a service I've gotten plenty of times elsewhere for a fraction of the price. The only reason I've found myself back here is because it's conveniently close to my house. Unfortunately, I don't think I can justify paying what she's asking unless Im in a crunch for time and need something done urgently. Her work is fine though, no complaints there read more

I would give it 5 stars but decided on 4 as I thought it was pricey to get my ball gown hemmed.Other than this very good work and lovely customer service. I just thought $80 for a dress to be hemmed was pricey. I am also comparing to our last duty station where I got a similar dress material hemmed just different color and it cost me $30 and they had more work as I had a trail they had to shorten. I came in the first time bc I needed my work pants hemmed.. High expectations thanks to the reviews here and was happy to have been greeted so sweetly as soon as I walked in! I told her what I needed, she double checked with me, then asked when I needed them by. I asked how much to get them back today? People, she had them done in an hour and was gdamn lovely when I came to pick them up (later than I told her I'd show up). Awesome pricing. I've been wearing these pants 5x a week, washing them at home, and they've held up great. I found this place on yelp and was SO happy to have gotten my wedding dress tailored here. My dress was incredibly detailed, with lace and beads and close to 8 layers of fabric that they had to hem, cut and reshape. I was in and out of the fitting in 15 minutes and was told that I would have my dress back within a week. The owners were amazing, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. Considering how precious a wedding dress is, I was just amazed at the work they did. When I got my dress back and took it home, I LOVED the end result. When I first read all of these reviews (before taking my items to Kathy's shop) I was spooked by those who said her prices were too high. But because so many reviews were positive about her work, I decided to go there. Boy am I glad I did! I had three items for hemming: 1 pair of pants and 2 sun dresses. The total was $57. OMG, I love them. I had this $350 coat that I've been unable to wear, because the zipper was uneven. I had just everybody try and fail to bring the zipper. I brought it here and they fixed the issue on the spot, within minutes. It's been getting colder and I needed the coat. Not only did Kathy's Tailoring come through, they came through with a more than reasonable price. The only place my wife any I go now for our alterations. Great, fast, service. A little pricey depending on what your wanting to have done, but if your getting uniforms, suits or dresses done, it's worth spending the extra to have it done right. I took one of my cheaper suits in to see how they do before handing over my more expensive hand made suits, and it is by far now my favorite suit. Poor customer service.  Had my pants hemmed because they were too long.  Did not wear them until 3 weeks after I picked them up. By the end of the day the right hem came unraveled.  After a couple of weeks, I finally took it in to get fixed by them.  They were going to charge me for the repair and said if I would have taken it in the first two week the initial hem was done I would not be charged. Regardless of how long it took me to get the repair done I don't feel I should be charged for a repair of a hem that was not done correctly the first time and unraveled the first time I wore the pants read more

I had a gown shortened here for a military ball. I brought the gown in on pretty short notice, I only had a few days before the event. Kathy was incredibly friendly and made sure that I was happy with the length and she gave me a fair price for the work. She finished the gown by the next day and I was able to pick it up! I've had a really hard time finding a place to get my pants hemmed at. I decided to try this place I found on yelp. I walked in and the lady working (I'm guessing owns the store) was SOOOO friendly and nice. She asked when I wanted to pick up my pants. I've never had someone ask when I wanted the pants done. I loved it. The customer service she gives is just outstanding. And my pants were hemmed very nicely. I defiantly recommend this place!!!!! Oh and a plus is she is SUPER reasonable. I have a pair of sweatpants that had the waistband seam come undone, rendering the pants virtually unwearable. I paid $20 to have Kathy fix them, and it was well worth it! I had a nice experience here. The woman who did the tailoring was such a sweet lady. The only thing I had an issue with was that it seemed expensive. I have nothing to compare it to, however, because this was the first time I had anything hemmed. I went to have a formal dress hemmed and had multiple hooks and eyes fixed. It totaled up at $65. She did an excellent job, though, it fits very well, it is at the perfect length and she secured all of the hooks and eyes that were loose or missing. It took about a week before I could come to pick it up. She was able to do the very fine seams that the dress originally had. You should definitely bring the shoes that you will wear when you wear the dress so that you know it is going to hang perfectly. They do have shoes there in case you forget anything, but you should bring yours. Both the man and the woman are very kind and funny, they payed attention to detail. I would come back. read more

Ball season is this month and I wanted to stay away from tailors/seamstresses on coast hwy despite those being closer to my home. I searched yelp for a business more inland and came across Kathy's, which had wonderful reviews. As usual I always like to read reviews first and then check distance. The location was perfect for me as I'm near Kathy's at least 3 times a week so going out of my way is non existent. I came to Kathy's a week ago to get my gown taken in and was immediately acknowledged. The lady there took her time marking my dress and made sure I was pleased on what would be the final alteration. The turn around time offered and cost was great. Not cheap and definitely not expensive. Affordable for sure. I returned today to pick up my dress, which now fit much better than what I was swimming in before. I also brought in my son's jeans to see if a broken button snap could be replaced (those thing's require a special tool) and the gentleman said it was possible as he obviously had the tools and replacement parts. Turn around for those was an hour and cost was within reason. All in all I'm pleased and grateful I came across Kathy's tailoring. I would definitely recommend them and continue to use their service's. Great people, great businesses. read more

This is a follow up review of this merchant. They deserve zero stars. On 8/13/21 I took 4 t shirts in to fix small tears that were near the label. I asked the man who had been friendly and helpful how much it would cost and he said $16, which seemed fair to him and me. I listed my name and phone number on a form that was not filled out and I did not get a copy. We were talking when the transaction went through on my debit card for $60, so I did not see that crazy amount being charged to my account. A couple of days later I noticed that he had ripped me off by charging $60 when I looked online to my account. Today, 8/16/21 I went back to get the transaction fixed to be chared the $16 and he refused to chargeback the incorrect amount. After I told him that I will report his business for ripping me off, he said that he did not care. NOTE: Senior customers, beware of being overcharged by this merchant. I will do everything in my power to get a proper refund for money that he did not earn. read more

Kathy and her husband are the absolute best!!! I had a very difficult garment with lots of intricate beading work, (hand sewn) that I was wearing for my daughter's wedding. I ended up losing 25 lbs before the wedding and my daughter did not want me to wear something else. She loved the dress. Long story short they did an incredible job refitting to my new size and you would never have known it had been tailored. All of the beading matched up along with the different skirt layers.
