Are you afraid of the dentist? When I first met Katie I didn't even want to sit by her because she was a dentist. That's how afraid I was of the dentist. She took her time and knew what to do and say to help me to relax to get what I needed done. I can not thank her enough. Now I can truly say I trust her completely. I have taken my children to her as well. My 4 yr old loves her and calls her the best dr ever! She's right too. I will never see anyone else. When you find the best there's no need to look any further.

My hygienist, Andrea, did an equally amazing job with the deep cleaning afterwards.

This has been an extremely disappointing and concerning experience…read more My daughter has never had a cavity in her 18 years of life and has maintained regular 6-month cleanings and checkups. At her most recent visit, we were suddenly told she had seven cavities, all requiring fillings. This was shocking, especially given that nothing had been flagged or even mentioned at her previous visit. When I spoke with the dentist, I asked directly for a clear explanation of how this could have happened and whether any of these could be closely monitored as opposed to immediately filled. I was told that each of the cavities were indeed in need of fillings and shown X-rays (which, as a patient, I obviously rely on the dentist to interpret accurately). At that point, regardless of how we got there, we agreed to proceed with treatment. Now, four days after the procedure, my daughter is still in pain and I am being told after the fact that: * Some cavities were "very deep" * Some were multi-surface * Some were close to the nerve * A root canal may be needed This information was not clearly communicated beforehand, despite me explicitly requesting a full explanation prior to treatment. That lack of transparency is deeply concerning. What has made this worse is the office's handling of her records. I scheduled a second opinion due to her ongoing discomfort, and the office has refused to release her records, stating that only one person has access to them and they are unavailable for four days. I was told there is nothing they can do. That is unacceptable. Patients have a right to their records, especially when there is post-procedure pain and concern about the treatment received. Between: * the sudden appearance of multiple serious cavities * lack of clear communication before deep drilling * post-procedure pain * and refusal to release records in a timely manner I cannot recommend this practice. Parents should be especially cautious and ask very detailed questions before consenting to treatment. ** Update after 2nd Opinion** After 2nd practitioner requested and was unable to receive records, they extracted what they could from the insurance company finding out what Dental Center of Texas included on their claim. 2nd practitioner mentioned that Dental Center of Texas took x-rays not meant to diagnose cavities but instead x rays designed for bones. It was determined that 2nd practitioner likely would have recommended only half of the fillings performed and instead monitored them due to the patient's oral health history. New x-rays showed no deep drilling (thank goodness) regardless of what staff had communicated and while filling work and clean up had some sloppy elements, nothing seemed to be a risk to my daughter at the time of this exam. (sigh of relief). 5 days later, 5 phone calls, 2 texts from staff to owners, 2 emails, requests from both myself and a dentist's office and Dental Center of Texas still will not release and send patient medical records.

This was the closest dentist to us and I did not disappoint immediately when you walk in and you're greeted by your first name by the receptionist. Everyone is so warm and inviting even the dentist do not berate or make you feel bad about your current situation. I look forward to coming here whenever I need work done. I will definitely be coming here for a long long time as we get settled in to Texas.

Friday after work she called me on her way home to ask if I would take her to the urgent care near us. I agreed and we went once she got home. While there they said it looked like strep throat and that she would just need some medication. When she got up to go to the restroom she got dizzy and blacked out falling face first into the door frame. The urgent care nurse called an ambulance and we went over to the ER to get her checked out. While there they give her a steroid drink because she hates needles and refused the shot. Her throat got better immediately and they sent her home. Saturday morning she could not talk and was having to type everything to me on her phone to tell me what she wanted. Her throat was fine but her mouth hurt very badly. I called around to see if there were any 24 hour dentist available but was unable to find one. I get her into my dentist first thing Monday morning and they say that her bottom two wisdom teeth are coming in and she would need them removed. They could not do the tooth removal and refereed us to Dr. Wintersteen. I stood there as they called ahead to make sure that we could be seen and taken care of. They gave her two days worth of pain meds as she was going to be seen same day by Dr. Wintersteen. When we arrived they acted like they had no idea who we were or that we were coming from across Houston. They pulled her in the back alone and told her that she needed surgery and that they could not do it until Friday. They also told her the same lie about the having to have the anesthesia and that it would cost 1,400 and that our insurance would not pay for it. They then charged her the 95 dollar consulting fee and pushed us out the door. When her pain meds ran out she called to see if they would give her a refill until the Friday they acted like they did not know who she was and they would not give her the refill to cover her for the remaining two days before the removal. STAY away from this place. I do not know if it is only Dr. Wintersteen as the only two good reviews are for Brook. Or if as I suspect those two are paid for. I wish I could give these people less stars. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
