I hate to let one bad review cause people to avoid Snug Harbor. In the past 3 years much has…read morechanged and definitely for the better. We have had our boat here for at least ten years and the changes during the last couple of years have made us very pleased. The staff is very nice and responsive if we have questions or a problem. Our boat never leaves anymore, as they now take complete care of our servicing and storage. Very happy there!

Snug Harbor Marina is located on the Erie Canal about a mile east of Oneida Lake. Not a good first…read moreimpression. We made reservations for a transient slip for three nights and upon our arrival, the sole employee on duty was not expecting us. We told him the slip number that we had been assigned over the phone when we made the reservation but the employee did not know where in the marina the slip was and he was obviously not familiar with the numbering system of the boat slips. This employee was doing it all: running the office, running the fuel dock, assisting arriving boats, etc. Since the slips are not numbered so that boaters can see them from the water, the employee walked around the marina until he found our slip and then directed us in. The slip we were assigned to was WAY to small for our 28' cruiser (we gave them our boat length upon making the reservation so I'm not sure why they assigned us to a kayak slip). He found us another slip but after we backed the boat into slip #2, tied her up and connected our utilities, he came over and told us we would have to be out of the slip in the morning and would be reassigned another slip. (In the end, we never had to move). We were not given a key to the restrooms or showers because he didn't have any left (we did get a key later in the evening after walking back to the office and asking again but it was taken away a day later - a day before our departure). We were not given the Wi-Fi password or any other info we tend to get upon check in to a marina. People on the boat two slips away played their loud drunken music all night long the first night we stayed. Docks are old and need updating and repairs as does the power outlets at the slips. Bathrooms and washrooms are in major need of an upgrade, similar to an old campground restroom facility. There were ants all over the floor when I was using it. Not sure if they monitor the VHF radio but I tend to doubt it because I did not see or hear a radio in the office and the sole employee wouldn't have had time for that anyway. Ice is available here but no on site store. The marina has an old wash room facility but the locals told us not to use it because the water fed to the washing machines stinks. This marina is close to a variety of restaurants and also near two beaches and an amusement park. There is Uber service. There are no security gates and I observed no security measures in place at all. The marina is well protected in its harbor from the wind and waves. They definitely do not enforce quiet time hours here. The best part about staying here were the other boaters we met during our stay. All were very friendly. We made new friends here.

The marina is…read moredefinitely rustic, not modern, but my wife and I actually found this to be a charming quality about the place. Docks are in decent shape. Power and water at the slips. Staff respond to VHF Marine radio calls and were very helpful and friendly. There is a small store, but not the kind of store to provision and stock your galley. There are no grocery stores within walking or biking distance, but there is a shop nearby that sells goods like jelly, jams, sauces and that kind of thing and the shop is associated with the nearby winery. Only one restaurant within walking distance - a bar that serves bar food (and they asked if we had a reservation). Waupoos Winery within walking distance - worth the walk! Marina staff allowed us to use a couple of old bikes from a collection to ride around the area. Grounds are large and if you explore, you may find some interesting old stuff to look at. The marina is protected somewhat by a shallow man made break wall but when the winds pick up over the Bay of Quinte, it can be tricky to dock a single screw. Fuel and pump out services available. Outdated laundry and washrooms available for boaters all come with additional charge, but adequately kept. $1.70 a foot for a transient slip per night (that's a little on the pricey side for this area). They also charge for garbage disposal - per bag. On site marine mechanic. We would definitely stay there again.

We found the paved trail around the entire grounds lovely for a walk, and noted it would make travel for those in wheelchairs easy access to the entire camp ground. Pet friendly, but could use more waste receptacles for droppings. Staff is outgoing and helpful, cites are no closer than anywhere else and some cites offer hook ups on both sides so they can accomodate various rigs. Our site had a nice composite picnic table, fire pit and a packed gravel bed even site. As others have posted, yes it can be buggy but it's to be expected while camping waterside-and these are not biting bugs just slightly annoying. An employee suggested using a qtip to put essential oils around the screens of our rv-which absolutely deterred the bugs. Would recommend without hesitation.

The pool is fine for kids but basic... the activity center has no AC and basically a pool table. Showers/bathrooms no AC but are relatively clean. Dog run is overgrown, a bit flooded and very buggy so we didn't bring the dogs down there it's also very small. Maybe 20 x30. Park staff is very nice and camp store is well equipped. We reserved a lake front pull through site on Sunset side.. site is great; they are very close together but we are on lake and it's beautiful. We have to walk around to actually see the sunset though because we are on the south side of peninsula and the other campers block the view.. We will definitely come back... for the location.
