Kat's steakhouse is a restaurant which opened in January of this year. I heard about this restaurant from a friend only a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I elected to try this establishment for dinner this evening as a change of pace. Oh how surprised we were. Kat's is located off the beaten path in the town of Lamont Oklahoma, population all of 317. Kat's is located right on the highway through town. The exterior of the building is nothing fancy and gives no clue to the experience awaiting inside. I called the same day to inquire about a reservation and while not required, was advised this was highly recommended if you wanted a table. Kat, the owner was very helpful setting me up. My wife and I drove the 40 minutes from Ponca City to Lamont. As we walked in the door the difference from outside to in was a definite contrast. A small, elegant fine dining room was found. We were greeted immediately with that old fashioned Oklahoma friendliness. Our table was ready with linen tablecloths, fine silver and light music. The waitress was very friendly and I could tell she enjoyed working at the restaurant and seemed very proud of the food. Within 5 minutes of being seated, the chef (who I believe is Kat's father) came into the dining room, greeted all the tables, and thanked us for coming. Who does that anymore? First up was the appetizer. These were probably the finest homemade onion rings I have had. Light and crisp dipped in homemade ranch, they were very tasty. A generous dinner salad was next. Then the main course. Disappointment was not on the menu tonight. I had the 14 oz ribeye, while my wife chose her usual filet mignon. Folks I have eaten in a lot of steakhouses in my life and tasted some fine beef, but this was one of the best steaks I have had in a long while. Perfectly seared with just the right crust to seal in the perfect balance of juiciness and flavor! Hot dang it was good! Steak sauce definitely not required. The steak was so tender it almost chewed itself. Kats potatoes were sliced, soft and seasoned in a buttery sauce that woke up taste buds I didn't even know I had! Ladies and gentlemen I strongly recommend you make a date to venture to the small town of Lamont and go to Kat's steakhouse. The food and the atmosphere are worth the drive. What can you say about Kat herself...!!! She is just a very good person and her gracious manner towards us ... so, special!!! Then to top it off.. she is very funny and engaging always...loved the banter with her!!! Oh...and food was exquiste especially the homemade Angel food cake with Strawberries and whipped Cream!!! Absolutely top notch food, service and atmosphere. Took my wife here for our 5 year wedding anniversary, made reservations and got in exactly on time. The steak was cooked to perfection for me and my bride, salad was amazing (great ranch dressing) I loved the Kat's house potatoes. The only thing missing was a roll to soak up the steak juices! Kat's Steakhouse is an absolute must! The moment you step inside you are transported to a gastro delight! We received a warm welcome and felt so relaxed and comfortable. We ordered the NY Strip and the Ribeye. Both were seasoned and cooked to perfection! We had the desserts Carrot Cake and Molten Chocolate Cake. They were so delicious and melted in our mouth!! Omgeeeeeeee They have the best steaks around & Onion rings to die for... seriously they are that good, when you can cut your steak with a butter knife... My mouth is watering as I type.. Matter of fact going there tonight to celebrate my dads 79th Birthday. Only open Thursday-Friday with reservations only!!!! Best steak I've ever put in my mouth!! Must go back. Very busy restaurant and friends staff. Pricey but worth every penny. Opened January 2021 in Lamont, OK, still in business in September, and reservations are necessary. You may think this is just a tiny little restaurant in Lamont, OK but it's actually a very classy steakhouse with probably the best steak you've ever had in your life. JUST when you think it can't get better than a steak (yes I know how that sounds) the lemon chicken with raviolis is absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly too! Highly recommend! read more

Decided to forgo our usual spot for Kats, as we've heard great things & they did not disappoint! A little out of the way for us, but worth the drive as it was possibly the best steak we've had in Oklahoma & I highly recommend you save room for dessert! We recently found out about this restaurant and chose to go there for our anniversary. Did not disappoint!! The ambience was amazing. Our server was friendly and helpful. And the food--OMG!! We had heard good things about Kat's and decided to try it out. Everything was awesome, our party of 6 ordered different cuts of steak and sides so we could check out as many items as possible. This is a great gem! Perfect for dates!!! The food is so fresh and you can taste the pride and care in every bite. Service is great. They are there but without being a hinderance or in your business. Everything was really good! The ribeye was very tasty I like medium rare, was told order rare so I did and it was perfectly medium rare. The house potatoes are also very good! I had the house Daiquiri nice fresh! I will Go back often. Love a great steak. read more

Probably one of the best steaks in Oklahoma. I'm a steak aficionado. If it isn't cooked right, it goes back. It's a cozy atmosphere with local history pictures on the walls, great cocktails and the wait staff is excellent. 5 stars from our family. read more
