My wife was needing surgery for her cancer and we were there waiting for that. Unfortunately the surgery got canceled and we had to go back home. Also it's very very unfortunate that so many people are needing this type of environment and support for the situations they're in and the availability to get back into the Ballard House after the hospital rescheduled her surgery was mute. No vacancies. It's so sad that SO many people are hurting and need this service. Unfortunately I'm recommending The Ballard House for anyone who needs it because it's a wonderful place to stay. I say unfortunately because I'm in need of a place to stay for the next two weeks and I'm having to look elsewhere than the Ballard House to stay. Love this place and the Volunteers are a God sent. The driver arrived with a horrible attitude and little desire to do any work. I'm not even sure why this driver even bothered to show up considering he had not intention of saying or doing anything. I escalated the matter to the the office staff of Katy Christian Ministries and did not receive a return phone call or a reply to my email. This is how they treat somebody trying to donate high quality furniture that they can easily resell for a PROFIT!! These people are NOT good Christians; they are SCUM. There are areas for study and also dedicated facilities for sports and recreational activities, which include a basketball court, a gymnasium, and an indoor playing field. They also host a number of local programs aimed at educational and cultural awareness, fitness and wellness, youth and family activities, as well as community meetings and events to oster civic engagement and cultural exchange. I've attended various meetings and also participated in various community events that have taken place in this very building. Hi Everyone, I've…read morebeen donating food and clothing items to Second Mile Missions for quite a while. They are such a worthwhile non-profit organization. Second mile has an "Opportunity Shop" which resales those clothing donations, producing funds to help the surrounding communities, which are called "neighbors" who are in need. There is also a grocery department where those "neighbors" can shop to help out on their weekly grocery expenses. I have volunteered there on several occasions as time permitted, especially during the recent flooding in the Richmond/ Rosenberg areas that displaced 1,000 families. The need was great and Second Mile, along with other area churches and associations, stepped up to the task of helping out the flood victims in the interim period until they could be made whole again. Second Mile is always in need of volunteers. So if you have some time on your hands and have been looking to volunteer somewhere for a good cause, I cannot think of a better place to make the effort.
