My wife and I decided to go to Katy Vibes last night for their comedy night. We should have went a little early to get good seating but wasn't able. Nevertheless we were informed by the host that they were at capacity but we were able to sit out on the patio with no service. Mind you there were two empty tables that the host told us weren't being used. So we elected to go to the patio. In route to the patio we noticed the bar had at least 8 open seats and ask the bar tender if we could sit and we did. Up until this point everything was ok. The problem that I have is that I was positioned with a clear view of the door and magically they were allowing people in again just mins after taking a seat. Typically I would say this is due to social distancing but I assure you that was not the case here last night. Oh, And those two tables that I had just inquired about also magically became available as well. The things that saved the night were the bartenders. They were awesome and I tips them well! The comics weren't very good but it was something to do and we enjoyed having some sense of normalcy. I would recommend getting to this location early to avoid any excuse to be sent to the patio. read more

The food is good and the ambiance is nice. They offer live entertainment and karaoke nights. Nice bar and bar specials. I would have given a higher star rate if the bartender lady dressed more appropriately. I guess she is trying to get a higher tip by showing so much of her chest. I do not come here often but decided to check it out... the stars are for the music but not the staff and service. My food was an extra 30 minutes late to the table tonight and the manager came by and said she was comping our drinks but only comped 1 drink. There were 2 of us with separate order so when we flagged our waitress down, she had a smirk on her face with attitude and it took forever just to get it resolved. The drink was $5., don't say you will comp and then don't comply. The tacos were great, their was one staff with beautiful locs and she was super nice and professional. We arrived around 8:30 for some crawfish, and get told that the kitchen is closed right now cause it's backed up, but it will be opened up later and we can order then. Okay, that's fine, I'm patient, only to be told at 9:45 oh the kitchen isn't opening. Instead of being up front they will waste you're time just so you buy drinks. Nice place. But food is always frozen and tastes like old grease. They should get a real chef and order fresh food. Anybody can pop frozen pre made stuff in grease. Additionally: it's weird you responded about cheesecake being how I didn't mention it. But since you did..I have ordered it before on a different day and it was indeed fried in old grease. I have been to Katy Vibes several times over the last year. Sometimes, they are short staffed, but I understand new restaurants, and Restaurants in general, have a hard time hiring the right wait and other service staff that have the same vision and are willing to hang with n there during the hard times. (And beginning a Resturant IS a hard time!). Over this year, I have seen a great improvement in the quality, consistency and selection of food. I would put the crawl fish (that comes with corn and potatoes included), up against ANYONE in SE Texas! It's that good! Yesterday, on the anniversary day, they were slammed! It's a good problem and a bad problem. I think they held it together with grace and a good attitude. The band was good. The food was good. Owners and managers were readily available and checking in with guests. I see a bright future for this place. Katy Vibes sets a high standard with the quality of performers on the live stage. Best price in Katfor crawfish. They are super spicy and my fingers still felt like they'd been pepper sprayed a day later. Good size field run crawfish with no dead ones. They'll keep getting my business at five bucks a pound. They don't fluff and stuff your order with decoy corn and potatoes, you get the pounds in crawfish and they don't try to nickel and dime you too bad. During COVID they still want me to come in to pay so it's not as smooth as curbside pickup. read more

Bar tender tried to make up for it he over heard us leaving said we could sit at the bar. As we walked back in the hostess again rude yells at us CASH ONLY! YOU WILL NEVER EARN MY BUSINESS AND I HOPE OTHERS READ THIS AND STAY AWAY. You are clearly not Texan! I'm not welcome well neither are you Stay Away Katy! Seems a common issue from all the complaints is the staff and customer service. What are you doing to improve that? Something isn't working if it keeps on happening. @Sam don't worry about me. I was there early. Problem is your staff! Go back and look at all your 1 and 2 star reviews. But you don't have to worry about me no more. I took care of the problem we won't be stopping by anymore. Plenty of other businesses in Katy that appreciate repeat customers. I am not looking for a free anything I recommend training the staff to be customer service friendly. Ordered 6 lbs of crawfish though DoorDash just now. Some were mushy, a few dead before cooking, some spicy , some not. Saying on DD that each pound comes with 1 potato and 1 corn.... I received 1/2 a potato( unseasoned - bland) per pound and 0 corn... there was 2 kernels at the bottom of the pan. It's almost as if they throw each batch together and some get old .... Some were super large and some small.. but it's early in the season so the super large were a great surprise. Won't be ordering them again . I eat crawfish every other day. read more

What I didn't agree with was the kj/dj skipping singers to let their preference or friend sing before other that signed up well in advance of the others. This place has potential to be a cool spot. The food is decent and the drinks are good. My family and I have come for the Wednesday night karaoke and it is run sooo poorly. It's such a simple system to rotate people through but the "host" had a 5 page list and completely ignored people until I finally asked about the order after he allowed the same people to sing 4 times in a row. My friends and I came through on a Friday night, to see what this place was like.... It was a hot mess. You can't tell if it's a karaoke bar, sports bar, or banquet hall. The place has no sense of identity or direction. The staff was friendly enough, but didn't know how to make all of the signature cocktails. The drink prices were at least low. Asked the table behind us and next to us and they were not asked for any card before dining. I would say my problems with this place are simple. More staff for big events and more flavor to your food please. Simple salt in the batter or on the wings can help but may need more. At first when I was booking the party people on the phone kept changing prices on me, children's allowing times and what's VIP area including with the price. Me and my husband arrived at 5:40pm and there was no sign of VIP we reserved being arranged or set up for the party. It took a while to get someone to take a first order. NO ONE PERSON OUT OF THE WHOLE PLACE for the whole time !!!! Came to me and simply said "Happy Birthday!" I don't even say about any recognition or special treat! NO Birthday dessert or anything from this place, so awful!!! Remember VIP lounge and services was paid ahead 3. We had families orientated first 1,5 hours. It was an agreement that servers will nicely remind people about children time restrictions about 30 minutes before. Of course it wasn't like that at all, they remember it right at time and was bothering me to tell families to leave. Guys it not my job it's yours, why should I tell my guests to leave when I just trying to enjoy my celebration not to worry about that, it's your job, you got paid to take care of this things and plan accordingly . I honestly had an unpleasant experience. Firstly the time isn't as posted. Next, after I was seated I had to get out of my seat after about 10-15 mins of waiting and find a server. This last time my friend and I waited for 38 minutes just to get our drinks which is unacceptable and then my vodka soda w line came out without a lime and my friend's dressed beer came u dressed . Formerly Vortex but apparently a bar from Atlanta didnt like sharing a name with them so now they're Katy Vibes (personally I like the name much better). So I can't speak to you about the food or entertainment here yet. I can tell you that we've been here 3 or 4 times at least and have only had the their crawfish. 1st time was the grand opening weekend and we weren't expecting much. They had crawfish $4.99 lb while everyone else was $7.99 and up per lb. Somebody posted on fb. They were cheap. Didnt have high expectations figuring it was a gimmick to get people to come check them out a new bar. Been to a few bars were they put some propane burners and pots and serve them up in styrofoam contsiners . So with those expectations we were absolutely blown away. They were AHMAZING. Served on a table with real cloth napkins and silverware and a nice big elegant ceramic platter! I went to college in Louisiana so I've had my share of crawfish over the years. But Wow! They're spicy flavorful and good sized. Never have we had an over cooked batch. Now its middle of June and the crawfish is 3.99 a lb and just as good! The place is modern and spacious. On one visit a server was telling us about how big the kitchen was and the size of the boilers were for the crawfish. Apparently the crawfish aren't just a gimmick after all (no propane boilers and ice chests set out in the back like I pictured). This is no dive bar that serves food. This is a nice establishment that I hope sticks around dispite being bullied by bigger chains that used to share a name. Definitely a place you should check out any time of day or night. read more

Went exclusively for the crawfish. The crawfish are very meaty and I will say are good and the price is very good. I was surprised when I found out it was $5.99 a pound and that includes corn and potatoes. The only problem I have with the crawfish is the heads are dry. Probably because they sit out of the juice a bit long. Most places keep them hot and in a back with the broth and serve them that way keeping them juicy. Food came out a bit slow and the waiter was not very attentive. When I am eating crawfish, I will go through 1 beer after another but, if the waiter never comes around, I can't order. Their loss!
