Friendly, local neighborhood bar in Katy that's been around long before I moved there with the fam in 1996 for the first time. As an adult, I always gravitate towards this place when I come home since I love the vibes and of course all the country music and dancing! Pros: -Drinks are cheap ($6 for a Tito's and seltzer holy F) -People who work there are friendly -Great people watching -Lots of dancing (line dancing and 2 step!) -Men will actually ask me to dance... say whattttt -Live music weekly There's cover charge at night after a certain time and larger cover charges on the big headliner nights. I would advise going on a non-headliner night, my experience was pretty bleh with one of those. Too many people and the opening act was almost two hours long. It was like Dante's Inferno on repeat every time a new song started and all the seats were reserved so I was forced to stand for 4 hours. That was not fun. Last night our normal monthly happy hour had to be moved due to a power outage. I had never stepped foot in Mo's but they were open and had AC, so I gave them a call. From the MOMENT I spoke to Jessica on the phone I knew this would be a great spot for us, so I ran over there to make sure they had plenty of space and talk to them about who would be coming. OMG! What a great pivot! They took better care of us with almost no notice than our normal place does with a month notice. They even called in an extra bartender so that we didn't have to wait for drinks and we had a lot of them because their prices are amazing!! Thank you so much for saving our happy hour and I think we may change this to our new venue every month. Our experience was that good. Jessica....you are a ROCK STAR! Outside is nicer and cleaner than inside the food is very disgusting. They need to have better chef and they need to change the oil they're cooking with and they need to make the place more clean because it smell like dirty cloth the cloth they're using to clean all tables and everywhere it's very dirty. read more

Mo kept the place family owned and family managed. Have been there many times and no single complaint. I lurve Mo's Place. Yes, there's usually a cover (only because they got live music), and it takes forever to get a drink at the bar (though they're dirt cheap), so I can't complain. Growing up in the 'burbs by Katy, I've been coming here for many years. Mo's kids also grew up in the area, and so the family has a loyal mixed generation of followers. But before my time, Mo's has been a honky tonk staple in Katy for more than 20 years. They've got $2 you-call-its on Sundays and Tuesdays (along with karaoke on those nights), grub, pool tournaments, live music, a dance floor and a dj. Happy hour will get you and your posse a complimentary buffet, and lunch specials include buy one meal, get the second entree half off. Live music acts include Roger Creager, Jack Ingram ... I saw Austin's Kevin Fowler there in 2006 (I was the gal dancing on the speakers to "Senorita Mas Fina"), who last year had his own opening performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. After kindly been given tickets to see Joe Nichols, I was estatic to finally be able to come and get the entire VIP experience here. Everything went well at first and I even won backstage passes to meet Joe Nichols and get his autograph too, again everything went well up until his performance. People were drinking heavily, girls were wearing the skimpiest of clothes, and guys were total losers, in ALL people fighting to get the attention of the opposite sex which causes stir. Girls fighting over a guy, cursing at each other, pushing and shoving, in all it was terrible. This experience almost ruined my entire VIP concert experience and like Joe Nichol's says "Tequila makes her clothes come of..." Well yes that was happening in da house! Went to see Mark Chesnutt last night, was nice not too packed. Unfortunately, everyone was saying it was too loud.. I agree a little louder than it needed to be, when we left we could hear the music down the street still.. Vibe was great, had food to soak up some of my liquor. Friday night, we walked outside and had our beer. A lady manager told us that we couldn't take our beer so we stood by the trash can to finish it and some man with her started yelling at us to throw them away not to drink them. Then proceed to tell us that to walk on and not say anything. This was our first time to this bar and the man was rude and aggressive. We are not from Texas. There was no reason to be rude and disrespectful. Why this man thought it was acceptable to talk to 2 women in the manner he did and the manager just let him was unacceptable. We visited Mo's Place last Saturday to hear Sundance Head, winner of last season's The Voice. This also happened to be the night of Mo's 29th anniversary, and the kick off of what should be a great 30th year. Of course, my wife and I hit the dance floor while the two opening bands played. Both bands were terrific. I wish the dance floor was a bit larger, but we had no issues dancing among the other couples. We really appreciated the diversity of ages at Mo's. There were people our age, 20-somethings, and all ages in between. The crowd was great and fun to be around. Succinctly stated, the ambience is pure Texas honky tonk, the live music is a huge plus, the crowd was great, the beer was cold and very reasonably priced, and my burger really hit the spot. Won free tickets to the Randy Rogers / Wade Bowen concert and ended up leaving at 11:30pm because neither act had even started yet. Insanely overcrowded, absolutely no one wearing masks or distancing and the food was gross. Ordered mozzarella sticks and it looked and tasted like old goat cheese inside. Let me start this off by saying, I have met Mo a few times and he was very sweet and kind. And I am not blaming any of the problems I was dealing with on him but last night will be my last time at Mo's. This was my first time and it was a horrible experience. So I called in to order seats in August, the minute I saw Easton Corbin was coming. I ordered and paid for 2 seats by the bar with non smoking. I was suppose to be on the red zone of the bar. I remember her name, Amelia. They brought her over to me and she claims she never took an order. That's not a name I would pull out of no where, but I remember her and I spoke to her twice. Anyway, they couldn't find my tickets any where and it was sold out. So they ran around looking a table for us but they put up at a crappy table where people were smoking like chimneys. Never once did You or anyone say I'm sorry and try to fix it. I paid for seats in non smoking and close to the stage and I didn't get that at all. I felt like a sardine in a bad box. The lady at the front taking the tickets was rude, didn't give a crap that our tickets got lost and made it my problem. I also had a meet and greet and trying to get there was like being in a bad Black Friday shopping day. No one moves, no one cares and that was in the worst spot possible. I doubt I will ever come back because that was embarrassing for me, uncomfortable and smokey. With no one caring or apologizing, this made me feel like no one cared about their mistake. I thought I'd give this place a second chance when there wasn't a live band. It was worse the second time around. I asked the bartender if they served any breakfast food. Yes I know odd request I was craving hash browns. He replied I'd like to serve you breakfast in bed. No thanks Enjoying my birthday night the waitress comes up weird girl. I had to ask her if she had been drinking she said no. Must have just been her personality she continues to tell me about the bartender making out with a waitress in the back room and when the owner and manager started walking that way they scattered like roaches. Love this place. Mo, Mo Jr and Joe are just amazing people. They take care of you like family. All bars have their faults but I'm pretty comfortable at Mo's. Anytime I go they make sure that I've got a spot at the bar because they know I don't like being in the crowded areas. That's what I'm saying, they actually get to know you here. There's a reason Mo's is going 30 years strong and they didn't do it by being average. I also appreciate their security and the boys in blue that watch over that bar. So I have Mo' s a second chance. Made positive not park in a coned off valet area. Had a small valet guy tell me I was going to be towed. I told him to stuff himself as there was no cone marking it . He proceeded to roust the HCSO working the door and stated I assulted him. Said there was two witnesses. I asked the officer where the witnesses were. Long story short, eff Mo's Place. Not at all professional and employs subpar cops who get off on jacking with you. I was finally able to leave but I will never return. read more
