This was a solid experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was good, the service was decent & the decor is modern and minimalist.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for lunch around 12 noon on a Saturday, I was expecting a packed house but it was dead. I started off with a Thai green tea. The drink had good tea flavor & it was refreshing with the right amount of sweetness. Then came the appetizers which I order their egg rolls and flight skewers. The egg rolls came out piping hot but very uninspiring. They didn't provide really any veggies for the egg rolls and the sauce was beyond simple. I'll say that it was my least favorite dish. Then I got to try their Skewers which was quite delicious. The chicken was seasoned nicely, I just wanted more char on it. The shrimp was a little overcooked and was the least flavored. The pork was packed with flavor and very lemongrass forward. My favorite was their beef, such high quality meat that is tendered and melt in your mouth. Felt like I was eating a filet mignon on a stick. For our mains I got the banh canh cua & my friend got their pho. The broth was delicious and had a strong crab flavor. They were also not stingy on the meats either. The noodles could've been more firm. My friend pho was fine, the broth needed more oomph. But the brisket and filet mignon was beyond tender. I'm grateful that they use high quality meat to make up for that broth. I mean it wasn't terrible just not that good. Overall, I'll definitely come back again. Corner 99 has a lot going for it. We've tried to eat here many times since they opened and we always missed the connection. Finally we made it work! Thank goodness. I got the chicken wings, pork chop rice, Cahn chua and their skewer combo. The wings were really good, the flavors hit. Pork chop rice was definitely one of the better pork chop I've had in Houston. I branched out and tried the lemongrass beef broth soup instead of pho. It was a treat and will have to become another go-to. It was plenty of soup for me to also have dinner. Definitely tasted way better than it looked. Fresh, well seasoned and cooked. Amazing fish sauce flavor and not too watered down. Perfectly fried. Banh canh 5/5. Came with extra chili flakes and lime. The tapioca noodles were a bit slightly over cooked for my personal taste-- I like them a bit chewier. But the broth was so good, finished the entire bowl. Myself and my family have been coming to Corner 99 since it opened. We can order off the menu without even looking because we all know exactly what we've come for. Over time I've felt as though I may have been overreacting but our last visit solidified that we won't be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness and sanitation is of the utmost importance when I'm out dining with my family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's no telling what happens in the kitchen but we of course can see what happens otherwise. One waiter that has been there a while has consistently bad dandruff. I let it go initially because he didn't serve us our food but in the back of my mind it was unsettling to think that could be flying into the food. This past Sunday we went and the man serving our food put a dish on the table and proceeded to sniff and wipe his nose with his hands before taking so much as a step back from the table. Not just a one off, repeatedly. I counted 3 times. He then proceeded to wipe his nose with his shirt and pick at his nose as he went to grab a cup of hot water I requested. He also got on his phone and took a call only to go back serving. My husband politely asked him to return the cup and wash his hands to which he obliged. That did it for me though. I was absolutely disgusted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]That hot water was requested because we soak our silverware due to it coming in this community box that sits on the tables now instead of individually distributed utensils.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This done in order to enjoy a place we've come to from the beginning but it's just not worth it at this point. Hopefully some training will take place and more sanitary practices will begin for their current and future customers. They deserve at minimum, that. We, unfortunately, won't be back. The banh canh cua was FIRE!! The broth was so flavorful and they did not skip out on the crab meat. This has got to be the best banh canh in Houston. Brisket Bun Bo hue was good however I think I would get the normal one next time. I personally don't think brisket goes with BBH however my fiance seems to really like it! 3.5 stars I decide to bring my family here because it was walking distance to Claw & Fun. My usual go-to spot is Yummy Pho & Bo Ne. We got vermicelli bowls ($15; mom got chicken, i got pork), beef noodle pho ($16), shaking beef ($17). For appetizers, we got the skewer flight (4 for $14. we got 1 of each: chicken, pork, beef, shrimp) and potstickers (6 fried dumplings for $8. we got pork). Overall, food was tasty and good portions. Vermicelli bowl had plenty of meat. Pork was tasty. Chicken was good and not dry. Shaking beef was flavorful. I'm not sure how the pho tasted (they were able to split it into 2 bowls for my nephews.) Dumplings were nicely fried. The only thing I didn't care for much were the skewers. With so many new places opening in Town, the possibilities are endless. There is literally something new up and getting up every week. I was looking for a banh mi restaurant, and my Google search told me I could get one here. I stopped by on a Friday evening. They were busy, but as soon as I walked in, I was greeted and handed a menu. This restaurant is cute and moody. They do have a bar with a variety of beverages. I took my time in reviewing the menu and unfortunately, the banh mi was nowhere to be found. I confirmed with the waiter, and they, indeed do not serve it here, thanks Google lol I believe they used to serve it in the past, as Google had some images of them (promise I'm not losing it lol ). For around $28, I ended up with the shaking beef, eggrolls, and eggrolls. The food was great, more details below! I will definitely be back again. My only feedback was I thought the portions were a little small especially for the main entrée. I still had enough for two meals but for the $15 price range I definitely expected a bit more. Well, I was impressed about the spot. A nice modern spot for Vietnamese food. The skewers are probably the best skewers of any type that I've tried before, the meat was, flavorful however, the beef was my least favorite. It was two and tender for me. The tofu dish was really good, up there when it comes to tofu dishes. Everything here was excellent, Barbi thought the Pho was good, not perfect, but we love the spring rolls, we love the shaken beef, and we're excited to try more things, because like most places in Katy Asian Town, we've only tried it once so far and it was a couple of months back. Chill place with really great food. We came on a Sunday evening and there was only one server for the entire restaurant, so the food came a bit late but not as long as I expected. We ordered the Shaking Beef with Fried Rice and the Spicy Seafood Claypot - both really great dishes for $15 dollars each (plus an extra $2 for the fried rice on the beef dish). The beef was very tender and juicy, and the bell peppers were nicely fried with a good crunch to them. I'm picky about my meat not having too much fat or cartilage but I didn't have to worry about that with this dish. Next time though, I won't get the fried rice substitute as I don't think it was worth the extra charge. I only tasted a little bit of the seafood dish, but I found the soup rich & flavorful with a good amount of spice to it. Overall, a solid choice that I would return to in the future! read more

Second time stopping by since my boyfriend works next door! I'm very picky when it comes to Vietnamese food and this place was great both times. Consistency really is important when it comes to dining out! Service was phenomenal and everyone was so nice and attentive. They have a variety of selections, from stuff like goi cuon (spring rolls), to Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef), to pho, curry, and many more! They also have a bar and beers on tap that change I believe. I love how thoroughly explained the dishes are and was even given a little background on the history. Came by during their 4th year anniversary and during the day they had lion dancing. I had one of their seasonal beers on tap, I forgot the name but it had a mix of dragonfruit, banana, and berry. I'm not a huge fan of IPAs or beers but I really enjoyed this one! We also had: (*these items were on their special menu) Chao tom: we ordered another serving after, my boyfriend really liked this one! Wonderfully charred. Crab egg roll: I really liked this one a lot! I like the type of wrap they used for this, it's not your typical egg roll wrap. Quail with sticky rice: the quail was cooked well and the rice was good paired with their pickled veggies. I'm not a big fan of fried rice but I liked this one! It wasn't too oily. There are ample seating but it was a full house when we came in! We sat at the bar though and there is also a tv as well to watch games, news, whatever is on. Very cute place.
