There are only a handful of vendors that meet these requirements, but I was so happy when I came across Christy K. When I had my trial, I could tell Christy was very knowledgable and provided excellent recommendations given that I was a very lost bride with almost no clue what direction I wanted to go for my makeup. On the day of the wedding, we had a very limited time window with 7 ladies who needed to get ready. Christy and her team not only got us ready with beautiful makeup & hair, but also finished much faster than the timeline we had previously discussed! And therefore, we had more time to do other wedding related activities. Her rates were also very reasonable. We received many compliments of how beautiful, yet natural we looked! There is one special thing I wanted to note about Christy and team. I had an outfit change from my Western bridal dress into my Chinese qipao. The makeup style for these two outfits can sometimes be very different - and if not done correctly, I wouldn't have looked as good in one or the other. However, the way Christy and her hairstylist did my hair and makeup worked perfectly with both outfits. Incredible talent! I don't always like how I look in photos and videos, but the way Christy and her team got us ready (as well as the few photo sneak previews) has me so excited for the upcoming photos and videos! When we contacted Christy again to finalize the exact time, she had told us that she booked another client. This meant we had to scramble to find another makeup artist for the date we already set with the photographer. Christy claims she didn't confirm the date stating that her first email says "-Booking is confirmed till contract signed." She may want to learn to proof read because I don't think she realizes she wrote the opposite of her claim. She could also have been more professional to check back with us before booking someone else if she really wasn't sure that we would continue our originally schedule date with her.

The make-up looks flawless and stunning on my special day. Somehow, I have ordered the wrong hair extensions type (tape-on) from Amazon (instead of clip-on). The amount also not enough as well. Luckily, she had an extra clip-on with exact color and was able to let me use it. I really appreciated how Lauren had went above and beyond to make sure the clip-on and tape-on blend well together. Couple days after, I went to get the extensions removed. The process to remove them was also not painful as I thought also.

Everything seemed fine at the time of booking, but when I reached out in January to schedule my trial, I received no response. I followed up multiple times over the course of four months via email, text, and phone calls--ignored every time. My wedding planner also attempted to contact her on my behalf, with no success. At this point, it is clear this is not a case of a missed message or temporary delay--Yessie ghosted me as a client. Because of this, I was forced to find and book a new hair and makeup artist under time pressure, adding unnecessary stress during what is already a busy planning period. To make matters worse, I never received my deposit back. For other future brides out there, please do not let Yessie scam you. Taking a client's deposit and then completely disappearing without any communication or services rendered is unacceptable.

She was friendly and made me feel comfortable during the trial, also she made sure to follow my requests on what I want on each detail (my eye shadow, my lashes, etc.). but she's not shy to tell you what you want might not bring out your best features. I'd never had my makeup done, so knew very little of even what to say...darkening my eyebrows? Fake lashes? What? Lucky for me, Jara is an absolute pro and a total hoot. I was so comfortable during my trial and absolutely loved the way I looked on our wedding day. My new husband damn near fell over when he saw me. My mom and sister looked incredible too, and Jara even managed to convince my normally zero-makeup best friend to wear a bit for the wedding, and we were one good-looking gaggle of gals. The little makeup kit was just what I needed for minor touch-ups, but the majority of the makeup held up incredibly well, even through tears, lots of kissing (wedding day, after all!), and a lot of dancing to Michael Jackson and the Boss.
