We rented boogie boards here. The price and people are incredibly great!!! $20 for 1 week while others charge $10-15 per day. They provided guidance on where to boogie board and when we returned the boards thy gave us a nice discount on top of it all. Chris and Sylvia are very friendly too. The are head and shoulders above Snorkel Bob's. I recommend them highly!!! read more

He pointed out a bunch of different snorkeling recommendations for us and even gave us directions on which roads were best to take. When he said we'd see turtles in this one area, he wasn't joking! I gotta be honest and upfront - all these five star reviews and uniform raves about Chris and his shop made me skeptical. I mean, somebody has to have had a less than perfect experience, right? But after renting snorkel gear for a week from Kauai Bound, I agree with all the praise. Dealing with Chris was a low-pressure but informative experience. He set us up with everything we needed, all good quality stuff (way better than I've used before), and gave us great advice about where to go and what to look for. I am so glad we found Chris and Kauai Bound. Our snorkel gear had become aged and needed replaced. Chris the owner fixed us right up with new gear in a jiffy. Chris also gave us great tips on where to find the best snorkeling, beaches with the best surf conditions, he recommended a great place to grab a bit to eat and told us the quickest route to avoid traffic! We went to Kauai a couple of months ago and had a fantastic time snorkeling, thanks to Kauai Bound. I considered some of the more established shops for our rentals but Kauai Bound was so convenient and I'm glad we ended up getting our gear there. The shop is fairly new so all of the gear is in great condition. Chris, the owner, is helpful, upbeat, and just so nice. He gave us great tips on where to go and we saw giant sea turtles exactly where he had suggested. I'm not a strong swimmer but the floatation belt he provided made me feel safe and allowed me to have a ton of fun. I never thought I'd be able to see the beautiful sea life I experienced. Kauai Bound should be the first place you stop when landing on Kaua'i. The store is centrally located at Kalapaki Bay just south of Lihu'e airport. Why spend the money traveling with golf or snorkel, or underwater camera equipment when you get it all on island, dirt cheap, and probably better your own. When I have family come to town its the where I send my mother to get clubs. The snorkel gear is high end and in great condition. The owner is also a great photographer and features many of his above and underwater prints of Kaua'i in the store. He also shares solid information about the island without worry of being locked into a time share presentation. Many other snorkel gear companies only use bad gear to get you in the door of a timeshare. Overall Kauai Bound is great choice for the traveler to save money and use the gear locals do. read more

We needed snorkel gear and the good reviews along with the proximity to our hotel brought us here. Essentially, I agree with the other reviews. The snorkel equipment was high quality, the prices were good, and the owner was a wonderful guy. They threw in some defogger and a fish card with our rental, which was appreciated. And then they also suggested Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas for rent (really a suggestion, not in any way pushy), which we hadn't thought of and ended up being indispensable and made our day on the beach SO enjoyable.
