Easiest bike rental ever!! We literally were in and out with our bikes in less than 5 minutes! I read this in another review and didn't think it could be true but it is. Very quick and easy process. No forms to fill out. This is the cheapest place to rent bikes for the bike path. The bikes are rough "island bikes" ... but you are renting it for a few hours not buying it!! No upsells here. If you want a basket on your bike then grab one with a basket. $20 for 4 hours. The other rental place nearby charges an extra $5 for each basket! Plus they charge $10 more for the rental too. Why pay more? Grab a bike at Kauai Snorkel and ride all the way to Donkey Beach. Or make it an 'adventure' and ride to the end of the road past Donkey Beach then hike 15 minutes further to Secret Cove. Chances are you will have it all to yourself! read more

Randy (owner) has been such a trooper with his business, even during the most difficult time for small operations like Kauai Snorkel Rentals. We intended to rent from him originally, and the store was only open by appointment. Visitors to the Garden Island were few and far between, gradually increasing since Apr-5th, when Kauai rejoined the Safe Travels program. Communication around snorkel rental was expedient, and the only snag we ran into was discovering he couldn't rent them for the time being due to Covid restrictions. We didn't mind this development, as it was for the customers' protection more than anything else. Randy came up with a solution which also worked for us, given that we meant to rent the Aria Snorkel for a week: sell them to us and we could take them home. This was a much better option than even ordering them online because he helped with proper fit and tips for best use. The Aria Snorkel we got was the updated version, with quick release of the head strap and reduced glare from the periphery of the mask. We also found the snorkel mechanism to feel smoother in allowing continuous breathing or air flow while underwater. SUCH A GAME CHANGER, because the mask doesn't fog up, and you can enjoy the sights while submerged and breathing normally. No more having to bite a snorkel or adjust and keep the breathing tube above water; the Aria mask takes care of all that! Slip it on, ensure a sealed fit, and snorkel away! The duo fins we got were also easy to adjust and slide on/off. Because they snap on via adjustable buckle, and have an open heel back, you don't have to struggle with getting sand stuck in the awkward rubber foot mold offered by traditional fins. The material appears less likely to dry out and break, and feels more techy than the tire-rubber types you find everywhere. Easy to pack and take back home, too. We'll keep coming back to this place each time we visit Kauai. I'm just glad he got to accommodate us. Coincidentally, he got a couple of other customers who were able to walk in, as they didn't have a car and were staying in one of the condo resorts nearby. The location of the store is a short walk from Wailua Bay View and neighboring resorts, so all in all, a convenient location. We had some issues with one of the Aria masks we rented, but absolutely no issues with the company itself. As other reviews note -- and the reason I sought out this rental company -- the Aria masks can be, when operational, a really great switcheroo from the everyday snorkel, you won't swallow sea water, your mask remains fog free, perfect for the amateur or swim phobic. (Can you be swim phobic?) As mentioned, just a few minutes into the use of one of the masks, a small piece that regulated oxygen intake snapped, rendering it useless, and bumming out my kid. These things happen, but I'm hoping Aria's working at a better design -- the piece was pretty flimsy. We returned everything the next morning and the guy running the place was super understanding, refunded us at once. The shop also carries boards and a smattering of beach equipment. You'll find shops throughout the island that charge half, or even a quarter, of the cost of these masks, so make your rental decision with that in mind: do you absolutely need this equipment and if so, do all of you? read more

This is a great place to rent snorkel gear. They carry the Ocean Reef Aria snorkel mask. I wanted to try it, and renting was a good way. If you buy one from them they'll apply the rental fee towards the purchase. And, they even shipped it home for me. The guys there are very helpful, and knowledgeable about the good spots to snorkel. They even have the wave conditions posted so you don't waste your time driving to a beach only to find waves too big to snorkel. I highly recommend seeing these guys for your rental needs when in Kauai. And I also recommend the Aria set up. read more

After foolishly forgetting our Tribord masks and fins at Lydgate the other day I was eager to find another full face hybrid mask. I tried on both adult sizes and went with the S/M as the L/XL left a gap under my chin. However once in the ocean my mask was leaking and it was too tight squeezing my jaw in. When we made it back down to the Kapaa shop from the North Shore, I tried on the larger size again intending to just do an exchange but it still would not seal. The owner was friendly & understanding and gave a full refund. We were grateful for his kindness and good business practice, and for not being stuck with the ill fitting mask. By the way, we saw other (smaller faced individuals lol) wearing the Aria masks with no complaints in the water so I still highly recommend you check them out, for sale or for rent with credit towards sale if you wish! read more

As I yelped and found this place, closer and with AWESOME equipment we decided to pop in. We LOVED using our rental mask so much so that we went back to purchase one for home. Kauai Snorkel was a great find during our island stay. Both Billy and Randy were knowledgeable about snorkeling sites and offered suggestions, including calling the shop each morning to learn where the best diving/snorkeling conditions could be found. The equipment was well maintained and fully explained. The full-face snorkeling mask greatly enhanced our ocean fun. We rented them two days in to our vacation and never looked back. My group of five (three 60+ and two 30 yr olds) also rented fins and were offered float devices as a bonus. Billy had us try on a few different fins and masks before finding the best fit for each of us. Four of us chose to purchase the full face masks after days of use. Mine was shipped to my home free of charge. What a bonus! This was the first jewelry store that I stopped in and no matter what other ones I stopped in thereafter, no selection of pearls quite met the quality of the ones here. I know that seems like a lot, but hear me out. The pearls for the most part are perfect or if they have minor defects then it trully is MINOR. Nothing huge or noticeable. Not to mention this particular jeweler seems to be one of the very few that carries white gold. I know that in the future as gold prices change this might change, but this is kind of a big deal. A lot of stores aren't carrying white gold, but have chosen to carry sterling silver, which is not the same if you put it on a Tahitian pearl. This jeweler may have had the smallest selection I saw, but by far, the best quality. Great service, great selection -- very knowledgeable and very helpful. After a week of looking around, I came back here and got myself the exact thing I was looking for. read more

There's a one way valve that lets water out when you're in the water without having to go above the water. You can also buy the mask and they take the rental fee off of the costs. This is the BEST snorkel rental business. Don't go anywhere else. First, customer service is awesome. They explain everything and answer all questions. Very friendly!! Second, the full face snorkel mask-love it. I was scared to try the regular style and my brother said to try the full face style so I can breath normal. It's awesome. Third, if u wear glasses, like me and can't see anything after u take your glasses off, come here. They have prescription inserts!! He let me try a couple to see what worked best.
