I only spoke with Ariana by phone to talk about ways she could further support me. After that one call, everything fell into place with ease. I flew out to Kauai for her 3-day intensive retreat and started my healing journey. The retreat includes airport pickup/hotel pickup, three nourishing meals a day, and your room/bathroom. We looked around and I was immediately taken with Hanalei Day Spa, because the owner's passion was palpable, even across the internet. We arrived and were cheerfully greeted by the owner at the front desk, and she was more than happy to explain the process and answer our questions. She introduced us to our massage therapists, Renata and Lou, and we followed them to a gorgeous set up with shade and the waves in the background. Both Renata and Lou asked us about our aches and pains and injuries, and let us know how they planned to run our 50 min massage. They told us to undress to our comfort, made sure we were happy with the table height, and asked if we need more or less pressure as they started, I've never felt so considered in a massage setting before! As our massages ended and went back to the lobby to settle up, the owner asked us how our experiences were, and I blurted out "I've never felt so loose!" But as soon as the words left my mouth, I realized that not only was I looser than ever, but I was standing straight without hunching my spine AND that the pain I've carried in my back and shoulders for the last 20 years was GONE. Not lessened, not eased, but absolutely and unequivocally, gone. As I realized this I started to cry happy/relief tears; I couldn't help it! I'd never have imagined a 50 min massage could eliminate years and years of accumulated pain. I started to apologize for crying, and the owner started tearing up herself and told me to "never apologize for beautiful emotion", which only made me cry more. It's been a few days since, and my back has stayed straight, my pain has stayed gone, and my gratitude (to Renata especially) only grows deeper. It's clear that this spa is run by people who are dedicated, caring, knowledgeable, and incredibly sweet. I can't thank them enough!

After experiencing the treatment we got, I do NOT recommend this yoga studio. The owner (the younger one, not the mom) told us there were NO openings in classes this week. When she learned we were not residents, she became extremely off putting and short with us. We thanked her and went to look around the small store a bit in shock. Within 3 minutes another woman walked in, and she told her they had a number of openings in most of their classes available this week. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to say something, but chose not to. Clearly, this yoga studio is NOT WELCOMING to visitors. Yoga shouldn't be about discriminating who should take your classes or not. We are aware that it's a "private studio", but all that means to them is that this studio picks and chooses who comes in. Doesn't seem very "spread peace & love". We are from east coast city area and very familiar with snobbery, but this owner takes the cake. I would recommend to the owner, that if you aren't going to welcome, or don't value people "visiting" Princeville who are hoping to share the joy of yoga (even though tourism is the number one industry in Kauai) then have a sign stating only residents are welcome, because the way you make a visitor feel simply coming into your studio/store in a tourist shopping center is sad. Do better!
