We made a stop here on our way up to Princeville from the Airport. This place was kind of dead when we got there with only 1 couple just finishing up their drink. They have smoothies, juices, pizzas and snacks all rolled up in to one place. There are some fresh fruits in the fridge, but we were here for their smoothies. They use fresh fruits with no added sugar or sweetner. They let the fruit do the heavy lifting. Overall, I thought it was good. Though, I would have liked to have some honey for that touch of sweetness. read more

We stopped in because we kept passing by Kauai Fruit & Flower "The Pineapple Store" on the way back to our hotel. We wanted to come in and see what this is all about! Parking was on the side in a cramped area because they share a spot with all the arts & crafts tents outside the store. The interior was very large but not much merchandise. Seems like they ship and deliver pineapples?! But didnt see any pineapples sitting around. I walked up to the counter to order 2 drinks and waited over 10 mins to be helped. The lady (owner?) was running around doing different things. They had 2 people behind the counter making smoothies but they didnt offer to help or take my order. Finally after 10 mins of waiting, she asked for my order and I ordered 1 papaya smoothie and 1 pineapple juice. It took awhile for her to make it and finally was ready to pay (but the other 2 staff member couldnt help?). A guy who was sitting outside that finished his drink barged up and wanted to pay. But then he saw me standing there and offered to have me pay first. The whole experience is a bit bizarre. Seems like an unorganized business. read more

This is where you go on the way to airport when you want to bring Pineapples on the Plane with you going home. Hawaiian Air allows each passenger to check in 1 box of Pineapples FREE --no extra baggage charge provided the box is less than 10 pounds. Here they have boxes with handles for 2 or 3 Pineapples. The very nice older woman who runs this place says they pack the Pineapples fresh everyday and you have a 1 week to eat them after you get home. You cannot pick the Pineapples--they are packed by her, box sealed, and certified for clearance at the Airport. All Pineapples have to go through an inspection at the airport--there is special place for that near check-in. Now this is KEY: You are not allowed to leave Kauai with Pineapples grown in Kauai! The only Pineapples certified for Air Travel back to the Mainland are the Maui grown Pineapples. She will not certify for air travel the local Pineapples. They also make Pineapple smoothies that were great. They also cut up and sell local Pineapples for your hotel which which were also great. Easy free parking in the dirt lot. Stop here to bring Pineapples back home with an easy to carry box or buy pre-cut local Pineapples for your hotel room. read more

The lady was so kind to cut us the two different types of pineapple and mango since we didn't have a knife or cutting board. That act alone is 5 stars in my book! Delicious fruit, kind and patient establishment. My son wasn't feeling well but really wanted some "ice cold" strawberries. After trying a couple places to no avail, the kind woman at this place cut up a container for me to purchase. Pretty catchy sign that makes you want to get to the shop! We got a smoothie and a juice which was advertised as 'fresh' but ended up getting frozen fruits (even the garnished pineapple was frozen lol). The taste was totally bland on the smoothie. We have used this store before in the past pre-Covid and it was a great experience. However, we visited in July and it was a totally different experience. I am not sure if new management took over, but there were a couple of issues that occurred. There is not great communication present in the store though we only interacted with two employees both days we were present. The first day when we placed the order (a week in advance as advised to ensure proper stamping regulations) the two associates did not communicate well enough as the one took the order and had the other ring us up. We ended up getting charged for shipping though we talked that we were going to check them on the plane. We noticed it and got the transaction canceled and thought it was just a slight mistake. However, when we went to pick up our pineapple it almost seemed as a surprise. When we went in and asked for our order, we were given half of our order. When we asked for the rest the employee almost seemed surprised grabbed another portion, but did not have any others left. He asked to see our receipt as he was unable to find the record of our sale in their system and once we showed him he talked with the manager. When he came back he said they could ship them to us, which we were fine with, until they said we had to pay the shipping which was almost 70+ dollars. We were told to pay for their mistake because they had a lot of orders to process! We decided to take their offer of refund on our missing pineapples instead of paying a huge amount to ship to us. However, we did not receive our refund. I called back two weeks later and someone said they would get this to a manager and they would contact me back. After two weeks we still did not receive a refund and I called again and was told the same thing. I still have not received the refund. We were very disappointed about this experience and would be sure to contact the store once on the island to order any pineapple and then also contact a couple of days before picking them up to ensure your full order is present. read more

Dropped by because we had some time to kill before our flight back home. Parking was easy, mainly because there was no one in the place at about 11 in the morning on a Monday. There are options to ship or carry onto the plane pineapples in boxes of 3 or 6. We decided to have a small snack of their white pineapple. The lady at the counter was very sweet and warned us to not tip the container because pineapple juice could seep out of the container. There weren't too many souvenirs available to purchase just a few random Hawaiian household items and some lies that weren't very fresh. We sat inside to eat our pineapple with the tooth picks we had been given. Cute little store to stop by if you have time to kill. read more

They are ready for you to carry-on the flight, with no extra charge at the airport! You can also choose to ship them, for a steep price! She also has other locally grown produce for sale! I love this place and absolutely loved Lahi, who helped us. My husband and I stopped here to buy pineapples & papayas to bring home. It was $50 for 6 pineapples, $27 for a box of 3, $18 for a box of 2 and United Airlines let us each check in a box for no fee. This cute shop is super close to the airport and I would highly recommend stopping in! Lahi was so friendly, helpful, personal and just a sincerely nice person. We will definitely be back on our next Kauai trip and I can't wait to tell others about Kauai Fruit & Flower! read more

We wanted to take home pineapples to our friends and family after being in Kauai so we stopped by this place after seeing the online reviews. The very nice lady there sold us the last six pineapples at $10 each which included the packaging. This price seemed very expensive but She told us the airlines shipped pineapples for free and we asked her about American/US airlines and she said they were the last airline to finally not charge for shipping. She also told us that we could only take precut mangos on the plane with us. So after buying a cutting board and knife and cutting up our delicious mangos and with our pineapples in hand we arrive at US airways check in and are told they charge for pineapples and that it would be $60 more to ship them on the plane. We were sure it was a mistake and told them what Kauai fruit and flower told us and she said they always charge. We didn't have any more room in our suitcases to put the pineapples, having bought souvenirs and packed with the idea of shipping our pineapples for free. I begrudgingly paid the 60 believing it would still be worth it and made our way to the gate. Before the gate there was an agriculture check where you had to declare your agriculture and send your carry ons through a scanner. I told the official we had cut up mangos and he said they were forbidden. More misinformation. We had to throw away our delicious mangos. When we finally arrived home we cut up the first pineapple which was pretty good. The next two we have cut up however have been over ripe and not worth eating. We have learned a valuable lesson the hard way. read more

Stopped here earlier in the week to order pineapples to take home with us. The owner kindly advised us shipping was a bad option and that they would box the pineapples for us to take on the plane so that's what we did. We ordered and paid for them and they were waiting for us when we were on our way home. My only suggestion to them would be to use one of those plastic strapping-type handles on the box. There's really no way to carry it other than lug it in your arms. We paid around 50.00 for a box of 6 pineapples. read more

We visit Kauai annually and have for the past 12 years. After 11 years of traveling we decided Kauai is our most favorite place in the world. We recently purchased a condo at the Waipouli Resort. We're new "Kamaaina" hahaha! We always stop by this store and not happy there's a negative comment. Not surprised coming from "my people" but be careful of karma it's a B! We have been referred to this store more times then I can tell you. They likewise make sure to share names and places we can support during our month on Kauai. I'm a retired nurse, and my husband a partially retired attorney. From our 12 years of experience doing business at the Kauai Fruit store we love it! My husband let's me spend as much as I want in this store yah!. Our family members "expect" the fresh Kauai fruits, flowers, and gifts we take home or ship. They recently helped me send fresh Papaya to a friend who has terminal Cancer. This is the only thing he would eat during treatment. It was just papaya fruit, but what a differance his sister said it made. The owners and their staff are dear "Hawaiian" people, and that is a "rare" to find today. If you have not visited Hawaii in the past 5 or 10 years you'll be shocked to see how few locals residents are in business. Putting down a local business is dark, especially in today's economy. Something we have in common with the owners is their commitment to their community. The owners never ever tell you all the things they do to help those less fortunate. They advocate for the disabled, and we have a disabled granddaughter. They volunteer their time with several non profits as we do at home in Seattle. We've gone twice to serve a meal at the local Soup kitchen, and homeless outreach with them. I know times have been hard especially in the islands. My husband does work in California also and it is no picnic anywhere. Many local small business on Kauai have also been forced to close due to this tough economy. The people who rent our condo also hire local residentsto to maintain it. That is our way of supporting our other "Kauai Ohana". So when visited Kauai please "buy local" everything from our gas, groceries, restaurants, and gifts etc. Aloha! read more
