This national park site is tucked neatly woven into the green belt of Greensboro. Right off of the…read morecity's Greenway, it's not even out of the question to bike to and from here. In my case, I live close enough to actually walk/run here and back. While there is a paved loop through the entire park which features an audio guide and numbered stops, it's actually a wonderful place to walk. In fact it feels almost European in sentiment as I rarely ever see cars driving through and more often see people walking, running, or biking. The park office and facilities are generally a bit outdated, but very informative about the park and the associated history of the American revolution connected to this place. There's a gift shop and daily staff there to answer any questions you may have. And the park teaches you perhaps the most important point: why the city took on the name of Greensboro. But I'll let you all visit and figure that one out for yourselves.

This is apparently a Revolutionary War site, and one that did not ring any bells for me as a…read morenon-historian. And yet, on a weekday morning, the place was packed. Apparently it is a popular hangout for locals in need of exercise (or with a dog). I got an extensive introduction in the visitor center, and after a brief perusal of indoor exhibits I walked the main loop. It had a variety of memorials and historical placards. The indoor exhibit also had placards, but these were supplemented by some hastily printed and taped on cards saying things like "additional context needed" while in most cases adding very little. Whoever came up with them probably thinks they are very smart, but I found the whole thing bizarre and best ignored. The trails are mostly paved, and offer a nice shaded walk on a hot day. I did not watch the historical documentaries, but they may be worthwhile. There is no entrance fee for the site.

So let me answer some questions I had. Call with anything you have to ask, as the staff is very friendly and competent in answering. It is the same ticket price for all (in said section price you choose), other than toddlers -- they are free. Parking? Well, you know how it goes, so get there early. Lots get coned off after game starts, even with open spaces. Park at your own risk. The playground is beside the batting cage. They have a bouncy house that is attended but there is no one to attend and "injury guard" at the playground. The kids are unruly, no parents in sight. And I mean, if they were? -- I didn't let my kids play there tonight. Seating aisles are very tight, like, old school stadium tight. Other than playground, I have no major qualms, but this is not the stadiums fault. I guess? Would have just liked to have a little bit of refereeing. Food is your good ol' classics. Would like to see some growth, but there is a great up and coming food mall right next door, Blessing Park (I think). Which also provides a splash park, this is explained on the website. Everything entree, side, & adult bevs pretty much runs about $8, of course snacks a bit cheaper. Beside the HPU vintage section, you may enjoy cocktails and wine, as well in a bit more relaxed and roomy environment. Very clean facility; maintenance working the whole time with smiling faces and happy to converse. Friendly staff and volunteers all around. Merchant shop and the High Pint both super awesome. It's the first time I've ever encountered a fully turf…read morefield for a baseball game before (including the infield, mound and everything) but you can't argue with how it looks, and it seems the players are happy with how it plays as well. Beyond just the looks of everything being pristine and new, the stadium has a good amount of amenities for a smaller park, specials on ticket packages for many occasions, and some decent food. I've been to three games here, and each time was very happy with my seats. Right now, most games have a lot of seats available, so once you're in you can kind of maneuver to get the angle you want. Either way, you won't find a bad seat in the house, and in the outfield there is plenty of room for standing and watching as well. The Rockers are an independent baseball club, meaning they aren't a farm team for a major league program. There are several interesting things about this, chief of which is that you'll see guys with MLB experience mixed in with guys who have never played at a level higher than this one. Scores can get out of control sometimes, but two of the three games I attended were played close and relatively clean. Finally, with independent baseball, remember the team has to support itself financially in full. Some items are more expensive than at affiliated clubs, but nothing at least to my eye, is outrageous. Last thing, on fireworks nights, thanks to the turf field... they let the fans out onto the field to watch the show! That is a really cool experience, and one that you won't want to miss if you have kids that are learning about baseball.

There were 3 children and 13 adults. There was something for everyone. There was a kiddie zip line, a bungee trampoline, a 200' slide, a wagon ride, a train ride, picture opportunities, and so so much more! They sold s'mores kits and had several fire pits for roasting marshmallows. The entire staff of the event couldn't have been any nicer or any more helpful to us. This was our first year going but it's definitely not our last for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this. Get there early so you can enjoy the fun during daylight.

Luckily you can stay longer after you no longer have to the party room. I do wish they opened at 9 versus 10 on Saturdays.

If you're familiar with Kersey Valley, they have a broad selection of activities throughout the year, and in this case offer both indoor and outdoor throwing. Our group couldn't get together until the evening, and I was excited to see 8pm on a Wednesday as an option. Online booking was easy, though i did find it frustrating that the minimum number of tickets is 3, which prevents this from being a couple's date night activity. No bother for us, we had three anyways. The instructions in the email said to meet by a light pole with a sign that says "escape rooms meet here". From the parking lot, that made absolutely no sense, and I did not see any signs to guide us. At 8 PM on a Wednesday, the place is vacant and it almost felt like trespassing. But we did find one random person who told us to walk past the ticket booth towards some picnic tables, and we eventually found the sign. When our "Axepert" finally found us, he made it comment that he was expecting us to be in the parking lot. This could stand to be clarified on both ends of the table. The two guys we worked with (one was in training) were professional and very friendly. They walked us down to the axe throwing area and talked about other activities offered at Kersey Valley during the walk. If we were to do it again, it seems like the outdoor axe throwing activity is the better option (more space and variety), but because we could not come until the evening we were limited to indoor for this adventure. The location of the indoor axe throwing is a relatively small building with only two lanes. There is limited seating on the other side of the chain-link fence for a few other people. You're not going to be bringing a big group here. I do appreciate that there was air-conditioning in the space on a hot Summer day. While I know that the focus is on maintaining safety, and that they want to teach you how to do the sport, at times it felt like a bit too much handholding and close direct observation. There were times where that was nice, but eventually it would be nice to allow our group to just enjoy the activity, even if we're not that good at it. I would have preferred about 10 to 15 minutes of instruction, and the remaining hour to be left as free throwing time. Overall, we had a good experience. The staff were friendly. That said, I feel like there are better options in the area which are larger spaces and allow more independent time to play. If you were already doing another activity at Kersey Valley, this would be a fun addition. But I wouldn't make a special trip just for the axe throwing.
