I was also suckered into allowing him work on a Longines quartz. Oh, I can fix it. The ran for about five months. He didn't fix it. I would never go back to him.

The watch I brought in has become sort of an heirloom. It belonged to my maternal uncle, and since he has no children, I was given the watch when he passed away in 2020. Long took a look at it and was able to replace the battery on the spot. I waited maybe 5 minutes, so that transaction was quick and easy. I dealt with 2 employees that day, and both of them were kind, courteous, helpful and 100% professional. That was enough for me to bring in my necklace later on for repair. My necklace was a birthday gift from my mom years ago, but the latch broke, so I wasn't able to wear it without it falling off. The latch broke about a year ago, so I obviously wasn't in a rush to get it fixed. But as I mentioned earlier, Long took care of my watch, so I figured they could fix this. In this situation, the latch was kind of a loss - it would cost more to repair it than replace it. They were able to find an exact duplicate latch for the necklace, and after asking my permission to replace it, they had the necklace ready for me in roughly 2 business days. They called me to let me know it was ready. When I came in, they had me inspect the necklace to confirm I was satisfied, and I paid for that service afterwards. I dealt with a different employee for this transaction, but she was also kind, courteous and professional. I felt like everyone I've encountered at this Long Jewelers location was excellent. When I walked in, I was greeted by two sweet dogs, a Frenchie and a lab, and Olivia (the human lol). I showed Olivia the necklace and explained that I wanted it permanently closed. She handled it so gently and let me know she needed to show it to the head jeweler to discuss pricing. About five minutes later, she came back with the necklace perfectly sealed. The work was flawless. No sloppy welding marks, no visible damage, and no difference in the bar at all. Just precision and care. Then she told me there would be no charge. I honestly had to rush out before I started crying in the middle of the store. Olivia, thank you. You have no idea how much your kindness meant to me today or how much comfort you gave me in helping preserve my mother's memory. I won't forget it. My sister and nephew have the same necklace, and I'll absolutely be recommending Madison Jewelers to them so they can have theirs permanently sealed as well.

When I pushed back (politely at first), they blamed the J color and some inclusions -- the same stone that was good enough for a $5,860 retail appraisal just a few years ago. $500 is not even close to fair market value for a certified 1.20ct natural diamond in a 14k two-tone setting. I walked away immediately. I understand businesses need margin, but this felt like a pure lowball tactic. If you're thinking of selling or trading jewelry here, be prepared to get insulted on value. The selection in the store looked decent, but after this experience I won't be back and can't recommend them for buying or selling.
