I went into Madison Jewelers to have a cremation necklace permanently sealed. My mom passed away a couple of months ago, so this piece, which contains her ashes, is incredibly important to me. I was honestly nervous even leaving it with anyone. When I walked in, I was greeted by two sweet dogs, a Frenchie and a lab, and Olivia (the human lol). I showed Olivia the necklace and explained that I wanted it permanently closed. She handled it so gently and let me know she needed to show it to the head jeweler to discuss pricing. About five minutes later, she came back with the necklace perfectly sealed. The work was flawless. No sloppy welding marks, no visible damage, and no difference in the bar at all. Just precision and care. Then she told me there would be no charge. I honestly had to rush out before I started crying in the middle of the store. Olivia, thank you. You have no idea how much your kindness meant to me today or how much comfort you gave me in helping preserve my mother's memory. I won't forget it. My sister and nephew have the same necklace, and I'll absolutely be recommending Madison Jewelers to them so they can have theirs permanently sealed as well. read more

I brought in a 1.20 carat oval diamond engagement ring with full GIA certification (J color, SI2 clarity, excellent polish) along with all original paperwork from Diamonds Direct. I was upfront that I wanted to trade it in toward a new ring for my fiancée and even mentioned I had a 1 kg silver bar to bundle. They offered me $500 for the entire ring. When I pushed back (politely at first), they blamed the J color and some inclusions -- the same stone that was good enough for a $5,860 retail appraisal just a few years ago. $500 is not even close to fair market value for a certified 1.20ct natural diamond in a 14k two-tone setting. I walked away immediately. I understand businesses need margin, but this felt like a pure lowball tactic. If you're thinking of selling or trading jewelry here, be prepared to get insulted on value. The selection in the store looked decent, but after this experience I won't be back and can't recommend them for buying or selling. read more

I took my mother's engagement ring to be repaired so that my son could propose to his long time girlfriend. I asked for the ring to be resized but also for the worn very thin back half of the ring to be made thicker. The prongs holding the stone needed to be repaired. They "fixed" it by not thickening the back half at all and resized it spectacularly wrong. The prong repair was shoddy and the soldering super noticeable. The back half is now almost paper thin and basically unwearable. This place and their supposed repair was an utter disaster. read more

Once upon a time, before I saw the light of shopping local, I bought all jewelry from large chain stores. It provided "warranties" along with free inspections and cleanings, until my go-to went out of business, making every "warranty" - bridal set, birthday rings, anniversary pieces, tennis bracelets, earrings and "push gifts" x4 - useless and defunct! In desperate need of a reliable local jeweler, my wife and I fortunately tried Madison Jewelers, in truth, because it shared its name with our daughter. Since then, we've never gone anywhere else! Phil, the owner and head jeweler, was everything a (scorned) customer could ask for: honest, knowledgeable, skilled, trustworthy, and straightforward. First, my wife's white gold bridal set needed to be re-rhodium plated. He charged $60 and it was ready THE SAME DAY. That quick turnaround never happened in any of my previous encounters as they had to send pieces away; we'd be lucky to get it back in a week. Second, he repaired her sapphire/diamond birthday ring that was sized/setup poorly; filed down "shots" (2 random balls of gold) and used gold to make the inside smoother, more comfortable to wear. That was ready next day. We bring the bridal set back for annual re-rhodium, though we've missed a few years, without shaming or judgement from Madison Jewelers. Once, he advised we replace the seat (big middle prong, $15) and also recently used a microscope to show my wife a spot that needed to be filed down in addition to re-alignment needs (both for $10). Turns out, that was the source of discomfort/skin breakout. After he repaired it (next day), she immediately felt a more comfortable difference, not to mention seeing the shiny luster as if it was brand new. If you needed another feel good attribute about Phil, he's also a husband/father. In fact, he named the store after HIS DAUGHTER, who you can catch working there a few days a week. We trust Madison Jewelers for all of our jewelry repair/service/inspection needs; give them a chance and you will too!!! read more

I can't say enough positive things about Madison Jewelers. Quick story: My now-wife and I were shopping for an engagement ring with no intention of purchasing it in the spot. (Trying get an idea of what she wants her engagement ring to look like since she'll have it on her finger for the rest of her life) We initially went to Diamonds Direct due to our general cluelessness and their heavy advertising which claimed bottom dollar on all things shiny. Diamonds Direct reminded me of a used car lot. We were bombarded by pushy sales people who swear up and down that they don't work on commission. We were promptly shuffled into a room and presented with nothing we had asked to see, at prices roughly double what I had budgeted and had communicated to the sales person. Naturally this left a bad taste in my mouth and we left. We googled jewelry stores in the area, came across Madison, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted by their 2 well-behaved shop dogs and friendly sales staff who offered us places to sit and discuss their product. There was no pressure to buy at all. The sales person there wrote the model numbers of what she liked on his business card so I could give him a call to discuss purchasing at a later date which I thought was incredibly helpful to mitigate the stress of buying an engagement ring. Bottom line: Mr. Ralph and his team are a family-owned small business. They offer nothing but quality product at fair prices and doing business with them supports our local economy. I met three different team members, all so pleasant. I came in to get my wedding rings repaired after I accidentally smashed my hand carrying boxes to the attic and Phil made the whole process so easy and pleasant. Additionally, I met a young lady ( I think her name was Kristy) and she was excellent as well. For someone being new to the area and to be treated so warmly as if family speaks volumes. Took my earrings here to get repaired and Madison Jewelers did an EXCELLENT job! One of the earrings I ordered from Etsy had a large metal chunk on the post so it would fit (looked like it was welded on, but not filed down at all), but fortunately Madison Jewelry was able to shave it down and you can't even tell it was worked on! I dropped my earrings off and a couple of days later they called and the earring was fixed! Price was also VERY reasonable and I would use them again in a heartbeat! It's a small store, so you might have to wait a couple of minutes if there are other customers already inside, but they have a very helpful and friendly staff. I actually found this place by browsing Yelp for a local jewelers repair place. My visit was back in January 2018, but I'm still grateful for their work and figured I'd share my experience for anyone else looking for a shop! read more

From the very first day he went in, he was treated with the utmost respect and customer service. Huge thanks to Val who helped my fiancé pick out the PERFECT ring to fit my picky taste! We have been in several times since getting engaged and each time Val and Phil greet us by name- a small gesture that goes a long way. We recently returned to pick out a wedding band for myself. They did not have the ring that matches my engagement ring in stock but graciously offered to order it at no charge so I could see how it looked in person. 5 stars for the customer service. Really friendly staff. Greeted me as soon as I came in and was very very helpful. They offered to clean and tighten the diamond on one of my rings at no charge. They also have a huge selection of fine jewelry and Rolex watches as well. Not to mention, two adorable pups that guard the store! Being in the military has made it difficult for me to continue going to my favorite hometown jeweler. Definitely found my jeweler in the area! Will be coming back! Highly recommended. P.s. I can't believe for all these past years I went to places inside the mall thinking their the only jewelry places I would go to, well that has certainly changed. I got my wife a ring at Kay's back in 2012 September, well I didn't know her size so they said to come back to get it resized OR swapped out with the same setting, so I came back after I proposed to her the following month - she loved it but she had to wear a ring snuggie - so we went back and guess what?! Kay's said they could NOT swap it out NOR resize the ring, the manager said the girl at the desk gave me wrong information. Anyways enough about that company, we came to Madison jewelers and the owner said he can resize it and put the engraving back inside. He was very reasonable on price and my wife was so happy, after two years of wearing the ring like that she feels like she got a brand new ring all over again! Just found a partially submitted review from a little over a year ago that never got submitted so I wanted to make sure I posted it since I was quite offended by these people. My wife and I went shopping for wedding rings and happened to stop into this place along our way. When we got there, there were 3 employees seeing only 2 customers and no one bothered to even acknowledge we were there. Now, we're not the type to expect the red carpet when we walk in the door but our experience here was unacceptably poor. The sales people looked up to see that someone walked into their tiny store, yet not one of them greeted us or visually/audibly welcomed us. I felt like we were treated like a couple of broke teenagers buying low dollar promise rings where the sales people didn't want to be bothered by us. We stood around for what felt like an awkwardly long time (it feels that way when no one acknowledges you and there is no background music, so you just sort of feel like you're listening in on other peoples sales conversations) before someone felt like coming over and saying hello. Then, they proceeded to show us rings and consistently bring up cost repeatedly with glances like we couldn't afford the mediocre crap they had. We eventually walked out when the sales person walked away to go back and double team the same couple we were being ignored for when we first walked in. My wife and I dress pretty average, looking neither poor nor rich. These sales people need a lesson in not making assumptions. This review is for all the guys that are hesitant about stepping foot in a jewelry store. I for one always picture a sleazy pretentious staff, that are always trying to up sell you, and looking down on you if you want to purchase something sensible and less gaudy. Needless to say, I don't frequent jewelry stores, and my wife is not a big jewelry person, but it just so happened that her center diamond just fell out of her engagement ring in target no less, leaving us with an uninsured diamondless ring. We were in no hurry to replace the diamond, but always new that we would eventually, and I felt that this Christmas was the right time to surprise her. I saw the great reviews for Madison, and decided I would give a local establishment a shot over one of those chains with the ridiculously sappy commercials. The shop is small, and I can't really speak to their selection, as I wasn't in the market for a new piece, but I can say that there was no pretentiousness to be found. You are immediately made comfortable when your approached by a really friendly golden retriever at the door, and the staff (and owner) were nothing, but professional and helpful. They bent over backward to figure out how to help me with my situation. The owner quoted me an extremely reasonable price (well below what I was expecting), and checked his supply of loose diamonds. When he realized that he did not have the size I was asking for, he offered to upgrade me to a slightly larger size for a minimal up charge fee, which meant that he shouldered most of the cost. They had the ring ready to go in a couple days, and had obviously taken great care to shine it up, and set it right. My wife was extremely excited about the ring (I couldn't wait until Christmas). I would recommend them without hesitation. Even if every bone in your body is rejecting the idea of entering a jewelry store, this local business deserves a shot. read more

Originally came here because of the awesome reviews with customer service. We were looking for wedding bands and ended up leaving my engagement ring to get these little "speed bumps" put on. I have had trouble with my ring since I got it in May with it spinning because it's top heavy. As soon as I would put it on, it would fall right over. I can't go down a size, not even by 1/4, because my knuckles are too big. I've tried multiple different ring guards and even resorted to wrapping fishing line around the base of my ring to help with the spinning a little. So I heard about these speed bumps and I was told if I left my ring that day, they could have it finished by the end of the week (that was Monday). Not even a full 24 hours later, I received a phone call saying it was ready for pick up! It fits perfectly! Can't describe how excited I am after everything else I've tried and haven't been satisfied with. I have no trouble getting my ring on with the bumps, and there is absolutely no more spinning! I would recommend using another Jeweler. This store tried to rip me off. I went in to the store already knowing the value of my ring. They lied to me about the value and then tried to steal it from me by offering a price that was absolutely comical and not even a third of the value. I left there and went directly to another jeweler and wouldn't you know it, that Jeweler offered me an amount that was 300.00 less than the value I knew it was. I guess this would be why after supposedly being in business for 20 years, they would only have 6 positive reviews. I'm assuming the staff and family members wrote the reviews. I'm sure they will try to hide this review from the public but unfortunately for Madison Jewelers, word of mouth will be their worst enemy. I intend on telling every person, place or thing that they are crooks! I would suggest going somewhere else. read more
