This was hands down the highlight of my entire hiking trip--such an unforgettable experience! You start by kayaking across the lake (about 2 miles in), surrounded by incredible views the whole way. Once you dock, there's about a 1-mile hike that leads you to some of the most beautiful photo spots. After taking it all in, you hike back, hop on your kayak, and paddle back to where you started. The whole adventure is the perfect mix of activity and scenery--kayaking plus hiking all in one. It's peaceful, a little challenging in the best way, and absolutely worth it. I heard about kayaking to antelope canyon before getting there and found that there were quite a few companies that offer rental and tours. Of course it was all too many choices so I didn't book ahead and decided to see it before I book. We headed directly to the marina and saw KLP's van parked in the parking lot. We chatted with the tour guide and he was nice and informative about how to get the rental etc. We decided to go with them and called their company directly on phone and paid by credit card. It was quick and easy and we headed down to the loading ramp to pick up our kayak. Getting the kayak down to the water takes a lot of strength. We didn't join the tour because we wanted to take our own time. We saw that they moved the kayaks for the tour members. Getting the kayak back to the shore was the hard part because you need to pick it up and hike up the sandy ramp. It's not for the weak!! Anyway the entire adventure was well worth it because we had the entire day for the rental, the waters were a bit rough going back in the afternoon but the morning trip was quite relaxing. The waters in the canyon was calm and smooth, the hike was amazing and it surely has become our favorite in Page. All the people we met working with the company were great and super friendly! My only complain would be they should warn us about the steep sandy ramp. Nevertheless they totally worth the 5 stars. read more

Great kayak/hike to Lower Antelope Canyon - staff was quick to answer questions prior to our tour date as far as location and arrival time. The email confirmation didn't provide quite all the details we needed - but one phone call took care of that. On the day of our tour - guides (Skyler and Elijah) were very knowledgeable about the area and kept the tour interesting. The tour ran longer than the four hours we were expecting - but in a good way. The lake was beautiful the canyon was amazing and while we've never seen the Upper Canyon - we liked that the Lower seemed less crowded and less rushed. The kayak portion was tough - and the low lake levels made the trip down to the launch area a little more strenuous than expected - but we would recommend this tour and this company specifically. read more

This was the best tour in the area! First and foremost, you're on the water! In the desert! That's just cool. Now, about this tour company. I am really UNhappy with my initial reservation booking process. I was told that I could pay when I got there, so I reserved the sunset kayak tour for 2 people over the phone in my name with Mike, who was very nice and I said I'd pay when I got there. All done. Right? NO. Then I got an email from "Jessica" who stated..and I quote: "That is not part of protocol. I will have to speak with Mike as our manager insists everyone must pay prior to the tour in case of cancellations and to reserve spots with payment. We get other who are willing to pay and are on wait list for tours, which is why we require all payments made during booking. I will excuse this one and have my manager speak with Mike." Geez, I felt like I was the one who made the error and that this was my fault. Rather than get anyone in trouble, I called back a day or so later and paid for the tour in advance and let Jessica know via email that I had done so. No response back. No "thank you", No "hey, it's all good" NOTHING. So before I got there, I was at about a 1 star rating due to her lack of customer service. Once we arrived, we had a long wait. And it was HOT! Finally, we followed the group to the launch, it was very confusing once you got in and paid our park fee where to meet even though they told us before we left (they should have waited for all the cars to come in before proceeding), as the pay at the booth attendant apparently had no idea where we should go and informed us incorrectly where to meet up, but we finally found the group. We had 3 guides because our group was so large...no biggie - it was better this way, it's a large area to cover with faster and slower paddlers. We walked down this super long ramp...luckily it was downhill on the way out there. I had been experiencing some strange symptoms since I arrived in Page...figured out over time that it was apparently altitude sickness - yes, even at just 4300' - and needed to really take it easy. So I had requested our tour guide a ride back up from the water. Rhett was our main guide, he said he would see what he could do. Upon entry into the water, my friend and I got on our tandem and started paddling away. Our kayak kept veering left, no matter how much we paddled on the left (should have taken us right)... anyway, we dealt with it for 3 - 3.5 miles through the beautiful scenery and enjoyed the ride. Saw very little wildlife, and no sea life. The view was amazing. When we got to the end point, we beached our kayaks and got out. The group did a little hike into the dry path and I stayed behind. I was just not feeling right.. Same kind of weird symptoms I was experiencing for the last couple of days in Page and enjoyed the peace and quiet right there. When the group came back, my friend suggested that Rhett get in our kayak and she would take his solo and he was more than happy to oblige, because at that point, I couldn't do anything strenuous. Also, it was a good chance for him to feel how the kayak was keeping left. And he felt it. Meanwhile, the entire time he was very personable, he was very sweet as I did nothing on the 3.5 mile ride back but enjoy the ride and sunset was beautiful, I took photos and chatted with Rhett the whole way back. He also said he would help by getting the truck and bring me up the ramp, he knew how much of an incline that ramp was and it's really long. I was grateful! We booked an afternoon kayak only tour since we had a lower Antelope Canyon hiking tour in the morning. The communication was well done and I thought easy to follow. On the day of the tour, I called to see if we could add a person and we were able. Checked in at the office with Skylar and Tony was our guide. We were a small group so it was perfect for us. What a surprisingly wonderful experience. So we may have started off on the wrong foot, booking a combo Dixie Ellis Lower Antelope Canyon and kayak tour. They informed us we wouldn't need to arrive at the kayak place at a certain time after we had asked since the lines for lower antelope were about 1.5 hours long. Wrong. You need to be at the kayak place at noon so plan accordingly. When we got to kayak lake Powell, they tour group had already left and we were super disappointed, as we were about to leave, we saw a car pull up with kayaks. It was one of the tour guides, Nate, and he informed us the group had indeed already left but he would take us anyways. It seems like Dixie Ellis is not communicating the timing and making people miss the kayaking. We were clearly here during off season and super glad that Nate was willing to still take us! We ended up kayaking for 3 hours, at a fairly quick pace because we wanted to see the canyon. Kayaked all the way to the end, so narrow that we were paddling out backwards. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of vacation, Nate was so knowledgeable, friendly, and an overall awesome guide. A little bit of a shaky start but we were so happy with the end result, if I would recommend anything, it would be to book it separate from the Dixie Ellis tour so you get all the correct information. read more

After renting the kayaks, we began our trip at Antelope Point Marina! We payed $30 to get in, but if you are with a member of the Armed Forces you can get in for free. Kayak Lake Powell is a better option than it's nearby competitors. It's $30 a person for a kayak and you can keep them 8AM-5PM! We kayaked Antelope Canyon and then stopped at the very end and hiked around before heading back! We did not do the tour because we had a service dog with us and he was not allowed on the tours. We rented the kayaks and went on our own with our pup! Much cheaper and way cooler! Be alert at all times for changing weather! I'm giving four stars because after 6+ hours of kayaking it would have been nice to have the staff take the kayaks off of our car for us. WOW!! Wonderful experience. Miles was our tour guide and was absolutely incredible. He gauged our group very well and knew exactly when to take breaks for us. During our breaks he would tell us tons of fun facts about the lake. This is a really good workout, even for fit people. So make sure you're hydrated and ready to burn some calories. I highly suggest bringing SPF, sunglasses, waterproof shoes (that can get completely submerged in the water) and a waterproof phone case necklace for your phone. What a great experience! I have never kayaked before and I only signed up for my adult daughter who wanted to Kayak in Lake Powell. I had to call the office to ask the nice lady if I will be able to complete the trip since I have never kayaked before. She was so nice and encouraging, after she confirmed that it rarely flips while kayaking. I decided to participate in this experience with my daughters. At the lake, I was encouraged by the guide, Dave (?) and he kept watching out for me since I was a novice at this. He kept up with the encouragement and made sure everyone was all safe. I must have not looked alright..... he ended up towing me the whole way to the slot canyon and back. I was so thankful that he was able to do that. We all joked how I was getting a VIP treatment, lol! Without the guide, I would not have had this awesome experience with my kids. Thank you so much for your assistance and support! Hiking the slot canyon, it was really peaceful and beautiful. I don't think it could replace the Antelope Canyon tour in my personal experience but it was a great experience walking around the slot canyon. Do not take this tour. I repeat do not take this tour! If I could give less than a star I would. We booked a half day rental and we were promised kayak in lake Powell, hike for ~30mins to see the slot canyons and kayak back. Unfortunately this was the only way to see slot canyons, so we booked the tour $99 each so ~$250 in total. We show up on the day, check in with the guide upfront, check and confirm that the hike was included and they say the same thing - kayak, hike, kayak. So we continue, we start kayaking and the guide yells at us to slow down and stay with the group. We stopped for ~10 mins each 4 times on the water - waiting on the group. Btw the group size was like 15 kayaks (2 each) huge right? So we had to wait 10mins for all the slow kayakers who btw are random strangers to us. We finally get to the echo canyon park our kayak and the yelling begins again, our guide I think his name was Travis starts yelling that we have no time for a hike. What???? We did this entire ordeal to see the slot canyons and no slot canyons? We were beyond disappointed- 5hrs of driving each way, booking overnight stay and waking up at 7am in order to not see the thing we came to see? WTF The guide made a fuss for us parking our kayak and how the group had paddled back and we were left behind so we hopped on back and started paddling and we hear yelling again, our guide was yelling at us again and this time for paddling fast. Absolutely ridiculous We went back to the shop and asked for a refund and the girl upfront says she won't refund then we ask the manager says he lives somewhere in St George and will call back, I ask for this managers number- she refuses to give it to us and apparently this Mgr will call when he gets time. I have never received a shittier excuse! What kind of a business do these people run? Promise something and not deliver. We had couple of people in our group who were annoyed that we couldn't hike the slot canyons. This is their strategy for conning people. I want a refund for sure. We even asked them to refund half of it. She says outright no. Anyway all in all there was a lot of YELLING and no slot canyons. If "yelling post paying" is what you are looking for then I highly recommend this tour. If not stay the fuck away! read more

Please note that I am NOT one to complain... but this needs to be said. Ive been kayaking at lake Powell with a different company before and had a great experience so maybe my expectations were a bit higher because of that. For starters, don't use maps on your iPhone... the location of the office only shows up if you use Google Maps otherwise you'll be driving around town trying to find it. When we got there, the lady at the front desk was nice. She gave good directions to the lake, however, when we arrived the guy who worked with the company was in his truck getting ready to drive off. He hopped out of the truck, pointed to the row of kayaks that were a ways away, told us to find ours and take it down the hill... oh he did say not to drag the kayak because of the rocks. Seemed like he was more concerned about their kayak than us. He got back in his truck and drove off. IF YOU HAVE ANY PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS, HAVE A CHILD WITH YOU, OR DON'T WANT TO CARRY A HEAVY KAYAK DOWN A STEEP ROCKY HILL DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY. Honestly this was incredibly dangerous and very difficult to do. We were amongst other families who were struggling and just as shocked as we were. They were not transparent about this at all. The one short sentence in the contract about this does not adequately describe what you'll actually have to do. I wasn't able to carry the kayak back up the hill, so to receive help it was an additional $55. Also, the equipment was filthy and stained my hands black. After calling in and confirming that there would be no difficulty getting on the water with the lower water levels, we expected no problems. After arriving at the designated spot on the email, there was no one to be found from Kayak Lake Powell. We made our way down the water area and there was also no one. After about 10 calls, I was finally able to reach someone who told us to take one of the double kayaks, he failed to mention to get one of the life jackets out of the truck nearby. He told us to go down a steep rocky path to the left, but this was nearly impossible with my wife and dog, all of which this company knew about because we discussed it on the phone. I emailed in and got this response: Hello, You need make your way down to the water. Where the dock ends go to the dirt path to your right and make your way to the lake. You'll see a boat and kayaks to your right down at the water. This was not the case and the rude person on the phone denied anyone would say this and then changed it to that it's not his issue that this is incorrect information, "He didn't say it." When asked how this can be fixed, I said someone needs to come down to assist with getting the kayak, he said that was impossible and we would need to book a tour for the next day, knowing this is impossible because dogs aren't allowed on the tour. (FYI he called 30 minutes later saying he needed to be by the water and could help with getting it to the water, I guess it wasn't impossible) I have yet to receive my refund because for some reason I need to talk to their refund department that is supposed to contact me. The only reason i give 4 stars is because i believe the outfit needs to add a bit more information about the difficulty level. i had no problems but some beginners in the group really seemed to struggle as the boat chop on the water can really call for some heavy digging with your paddle and if you add winds to that it can be a hard paddle. other than that the staff was helpful, informational and friendly. i also thought there would be a point where we got out of the kayaks and get to walk into some slots but that was not the case. read more

I was very thankful that KLP was able to provide me with kayak rentals even though I had no advance reservation. The young lady working the office was very nice and offered instructions on how to reach Antelope Canyon. Equipment was well maintained. The shop closes early, but does accommodate rental returns after normal office hours which was nice; although, we made it back before closing. We did a self-tour, but others doing a group tour that we saw on the lake seemed to be having a good time. Things to consider if self-touring Antelope Canyon. You need a vehicle to transport your kayak to Antelope Point Boat Ramp. They did help me load the kayaks into my truck and strap them down even though I could have taken care of it on my own. Once at the lake and facing it from the boat ramp, go to the left for 1-mile to the canyon entrance. Wake from passing boats must be contended with. The waves can get pretty intense at the Canyon entrance as the waves amplify off of the canyon walls, but are manageable. Once you reach the canyon entrance, you paddle another 1.5 miles to where the water ends. It is a lot of paddling and takes probably 4 hours to paddle out and back. Add more time for any hiking or swimming you may have planned. read more

We had a swell time on the morning Antelope Canyon trip the other day! The check-in process was very smooth, with friendly staff to boot. I was delighted that they accommodated my request to use single kayaks rather than one double (it makes all the difference in the world). The tour itself was really enjoyable! Troy was a great guide and a font of knowledge about the canyon and the lake overall. The cliff jumping was a pleasant surprise! The boats and paddles were in good shape as well. While we weren't able to go far into the canyon because of flash flood warnings that day, we still thoroughly enjoyed our jaunt! I walked in on a beautiful Saturday morning in July and asked if I could get a 2 man kayak. It was no problem! The process was quick. I signed some forms, paid some money, strapped the kayak to the top of my car and off I went. Drop off was also a breeze and we didn't experience any issues at all! It would be nice if they had maps available for purchase or if they were willing to give a little more advice about where to go and what to do without joining a tour. Kayaking was kind of a last minute idea for us so we had only done a little research. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our day out on the water. We were able to kayak to some pretty areas and then had lunch on a beach to ourselves before we kayaked back. This shop is not located on the water, so you will need to be able to have a car to transport it. They have some devices to help cushion and protect your car. You'll also need to have people strong enough to unload it and reload it back up. They can help you at the shop, but they won't be down at the lake with you (unless you do a tour). Just some warnings: wear way more sunscreen than you think you need. Also, I always recommend people to look at kayaking as a workout and not a leisure activity. It can be exhausting if you don't do it often so make sure you go in with a tough mentality and you will have a blast! read more

Looked up a place to rent a kayak a night before as we had more time on our trip than I thought so I figured it would be a fun way to pass time on the lake. You can reserve online and there was a lot of availability, but we chose to just drive over that day. Andy (I think that was his name) helped us and the kayak rental was very straightforward and a great price! I went on the Antelope Canyon Morning Kayak Tour and had a wonderful time! Our guide, Troy, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. For the most part my kayaking experience was relaxing and I was able to cruise through and take in the beautiful views, but there were definitely times the current would pick up and it was quite the workout. I believe that due to rainfall throughout the week the docking area for our kayaks during the hike had been pushed back. There was a lot of debris and the sand wasn't tightly packed so our feet would have sunken down as we walked to shore. Troy would have happily continued the hike for us if we didn't mind getting a little messy, but our group decided to go to a different spot to jump off a cliff and go for a dip in the lake. Even though we were not able to hike Lower Antelope Canyon we had a great time! There are definitely factors that can influence your experience like weather and the other people who will be in your group that you don't have control over. If you can go with the flow and won't be heart broken if you can't hike Antelope Canyon, I would highly recommend this tour! read more

I found Kayak Lake Powell on a recent trip to antelope Canyon via Tripadvisor. There weren't many activities in the area except Antelope Canyon and kayaking so we called ahead to reserve SUP. They were $45 for a half day. Paddleboards were a bit ghetto - more noticeable when in water because the lack of buoyancy made paddling extra difficult. 1 star because the guy who helped us was rude and condescending. He also led us astray to an area with little to see and explore (go see Lone Rock). Additionally he was unhelpful when tying the boards to our car. The whole experience with him including the returns was generally awkward and unpleasant. There are a number of other places you can rent kayaks and boards from and I would highly suggest renting through other companies instead. read more

I usually only leave reviews when the experience is positive but I feel customers should know some details that aren't provided at time of booking. I booked a kayak to explore the lake on my own since I had my dog with me. I was NOT told at the time of booking my non refundable reservation that I would be responsible for carryIng a very heavy 2 person kayak down a rocky steep slippery slope to launch myself. I was actually told they do it for you. When I arrived at the office the day of my reservation I was told the new policy states I would be charged an additional $55 dollars if I required help. I felt this was a bait and switch. Had I known this, I would have booked with the other kayak company that stores their kayaks on the water with no fuss on the customer. When I expressed this was an unreasonable expectation the girl at the front desk called the guides at the launch ramp to see if they could help. She was told no. I then asked to speak to manager who I had to wait 20 minutes for. The manager tried to fix the situation by instructing one of the guides to help me carry the kayak down the slope and place it in the water. I was also told a guide would be there to retrieve the kayak and help me carry it up the steep unstable slope (which they tell you is steep but staple and sturdy. This is far from the truth). All of this negotiating took 90 minutes away from my reserved kayaking time. The manager recognized this and offered me a discount to compensate for loss of time. The time I spent kayaking on the water was amazing. The canyon is gorgeous and very peaceful. However, please be aware that you have to have some level of physical fitness as the channel is very choppy. You have to paddle about a mile against large wakes from all the boats zipping around until you reach the canyon with the still water. When I was done with the kayak, a representative from the company was nowhere to be found. I called and texted the company but never received a response. Not even the next day. I was unable to carry the heavy two person kayak up the slope and had to enlist the help of their competitor company to pull the kayak safely onto land then leave it there. Had an amazing time with Kayak Lake Powell; what made the experience as great as it was, was our guide, Brady. His witty and comical demeanor made our quick trip super entertaining, as if kayaking through beautiful rocky structures is not enough. The company drives the kayaks out to the lake. They bring everything; all you have to do is follow behind by car. Our guide Brady was awesome, made a game out of our excursion, took pictures and even took us cliff diving in a safe area for those who wanted. Brady practiced safety protocols, and is a water polo swimmer, so drowning is less of an option. He was also full of jokes, single (at the time of this review), and popular with the ladies for all you single women out there. The serenity of the lake and the nature around you is a unique experience in itself. In 100 degree weather, this makes the perfect outing. read more

Loved my kayak experience. They made it super easy and quick to load the kayaks onto the car and they provided everything we needed. The kayaks were in great condition and easy to use. The woman working there also gave great advice on special places to kayak to and gave us a map. Overall 10/10!! read more
