I came here for a meeting and the other person was running late so I had some time to look around and found the staff very friendly and making for a lovely and relaxed atmosphere in the cafe. The menu and the food on display looked fresh and good so I hope to come back again soon with more time and hunger. I liked their interior design which made you feel like beeing on holidays at the sea - which pretty much suits their location.

The cafe has plenty of tables, some inside and others outside in the hallway of the shopping centre. The service is not bad either: you'll get a smile and a hello when you walk in. The lunch fare is nothing special though, just sandwiches, paninis, salads and soups. These options are made with basic ingredients such as ham, chicken, cheddar and tomato. It also serves a full Irish breakfast for 9 Euro. I would recommend this place to fussy eaters who are afraid of trying new things.

I say "specialises in", whereas I actually mean "deals exclusively in". Go there and try to buy Toffeepops or some Supernoodles and you're out of luck, mate. The Food Room do juices, wraps, quiches and all that malarkey, which are all very nice, but the place is a right pain in the hole if you want to buy normal groceries. The Food Room is part of a wider Clontarfian malaise: there are very few normal shops in this part of Dublin. A friend of mine lives but an asses roar from The Food Room, which is really handy for her when she wants to buy birthday cards, but not much use when she wants a few messages. I'd quite possibly be giving this place a better review if there were more real shops in the locality.

At lunch time the sandwich bar is buzzing with corporates from the area's businesses, queueing for the freshly-made sandwiches and gourmet lasagne. I've also noticed they have a quite delectable range of cakes - good for the odd office birthday or the like. However, the thing that most impresses me about The Food Room is the freshly squeezed juice - carrot, celery, ginger etc... hmmm I die for places that serve freshly squeezed juice. My one criticism of this otherwise glowing establishment is that the staff really don't seem to enjoy being there... maybe it's just me, but they always seem a little distant and stressed out.

Roly's is a Ballsbridge institution and with the cafe they have struck gold. It's a lot more casual than the bistro and great for breakfast. They also do lunch and dinner but it's pretty busy then and the cafe isn't that big. You will generally find a lot of suits in the cafe at lunchtime as it's very popular with the people from the surrounding offices. They do have nice breads and takeout food as well, but if you can spare half an hour and can get a table, I would go for one of their cakes and a nice cup of coffee.
