Service was friendly and food was good. I i enjoyed my wings and wedges. Wedges were huge!! And wings were jumbo sized too with nice little garnish. And the kids food options were nice. They offer breakfast until 12:45. My only con would be the cleanliness - could have been a tad better. The room we were seated in could use some updates. The smell of the diner was a little off putting- kind of grungy and smelled like maybe the fryer grease needs to be changed. The booth seats are all cloth so I feel like maybe it traps smells and there's no door on the kitchen / service area so I think it may be coming from there. The menu is huge, with all kinds of options to choose from; Salads, Soups, Appetizers, Sandwiches, Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners... and lots of cakes, pies, and other desserts. The place has a "diner" feel to it, and I loved that. Our server was Caitlyn, and she was friendly, prompt, and efficient. The staff was decent but the food was 'meh'. I had the cheesesteak and my mother had the Rueben. The Rueben was a 6/10 and the cheesesteak was a 4/10. They also had soup which came with the meal. I had cheese broccoli and my mother had some sort of meatball soup. Both were pretty good but the portion size was small. I ordered a slice of peanut butter pie; it was of decent size and tasted good but I was shocked they charge $5.99 for a piece of pie that consists of crust and pudding filling. Goodness knows what they charge for an entire pie! I don't know if I would ever go back. I should have ordered a burger or perhaps some fish. read more

A great classic roadside diner we chanced upon. Breakfast service all day. Great selection for both breakfast and lunch. No bad choices. Service was great until we got served. So once again we were headed home from a softball tournament and were looking for dinner. Randomly and out of the blue my husband tells me he's already to stop. Being the Yelp elite person and riding shotgun, I was in the position to determine which restaurants we were coming up to. Grabbing my Yelp app on my smartphone and checking out location to see what restaurants lay ahead of us, I looked for something right off the freeway that had a menu posted which offered salads for me and anything my husband would eat. Ding ding ding ding. Winner winner chicken dinner! We were coming up on Kay's. It is right off the freeway. The menu is readily available online. It had good reviews. And it had diner style food with several salads for me to choose from. Within 5 minutes we were pulling off the highway and quickly making our way into Kay's parking lot. The location is convenient and the restaurant is quite plain. It is not at all fancy but coming home from a long softball tournament - we were not looking for fancy. We also were not dressed very well. We were quickly seated at a booth which I will describe as vinyl and plain. No complaints - it fit our needs. Once again it was nice to be coming out of a pandemic and have hard copy menus and condiments on the table. My husband quickly found what he wanted to eat and I was happy that there were actually several salads that would have made me happy. I also appreciated the fact that my diet cola came in a large tumbler with limited ice. My husband asked the waitress for help in picking between 2 items he was considering. He ended up ordering the grinder which also came with a side. He picked the dinner salad. I picked the steak salad having eaten chicken salads many nights in a row. Our drinks and the dinner salad were quickly brought to the table. My husband's salad was a generous portion with iceberg lettuce and various fresh vegetables on top. It was a hint of what was to come as everything was home made and made fresh to order. Shortly after my husband finished his salad, our entrees came out. My husband dug into his sandwich and was very pleased with both the quality and quantity of food. That was definitely his type of the sandwich! My steak salad was a good size and definitely filled me up. It was only iceberg lettuce, but it was fresh and plentiful and I find that preferable to wilted and sparsely given mixed greens. The steak was not the highest quality but it was made to order at medium rare. The portion was also nice and generous. Needless to say I ate every bite and also appreciated the fact that they had the cruets of oil and vinegar available. Soon enough we were on our way. We looked forward to getting back on the road and completing our trip. Kay was nice enough to ring us up at the hostess counter so we did not need to wait for our waitress to finish up at another table. I definitely would recommend eating here and would return again should the opportunity arise. read more

Almost missed it, nice family restaurant just off the 90. Inside was clean and comfortable with a warm atmosphere. Our waitress was helpful and patient. The menu was extensive so it took a moment to decide. We decided on breakfast, I had the Homemade Corned beef hash (I took a chance) with eggs, rye toast and a side of home fries. The hash was delicious flavorful and well prepared. Eggs were fresh & the rye was nice and thick. My Home fries were good but I would prefer a little more well on the cook. My wife had the blueberry pancakes and she said they did not disappoint. They were fluffy and filled with blueberries. Coffee was not bad. My husband and I happened across Kay's Place and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. The staff was friendly, and we were seated immediately. I was surprised to see Eggs Benedict on the menu and ordered it without hesitation because it's one of my favorite breakfast meals. Granted not everyone gets the hollandaise sauce right, but when they do, it's divine. Kay's Place got it right! My husband ordered one of the breakfast specials, and said it was good and filling. We picked this place randomly and it did not disappoint. Very friendly waitstaff. Even though it was super busy, the staff hustled to accommodate everyone there with a smile. The food was really good. John ate the fried cod and really enjoyed his dish. I had the Club sandwich and it was well put together and filled with the deli cuts. There was a showcase of pies. I came here for the pie - and I ended up ordering a burger and fresh cut fries. I stopped in while driving from Rochester to Cleveland and wanted something other than a fast food drive-thru meal but I didn't want this meal to turn into a long drawn out dining experience. I arrived here after one PM and although the restaurant was still busy from the lunch crowd I was able to get seated right away and was given a menu and asked what I was drinking all in the same instance, the service was exception from the moment I walked in. My burger arrived in less than ten minutes of my arrival, the bun was fresh, the vegetables were chilled and crispy, the one third patty was served warm with melted cheddar and was of pretty good quality I was hoping for a handmade patty but it is what it is. The hand cut fries were served fresh out of the oil and piping hot ready for me to dust them with salt. I thought it was a solid lunch, but I really came here for the pie and after my server announced every type of pie known to man I went with what I consider my default pie selection "coconut cream with meringue" and although she told me, I knew I got the largest slice from the case this is what is called a win win, I got the pie she got the big tip cha-ching. Decent at best. What would I expect from a small diner off the highway in Ohio? No one rises to low expectations - unfortunately, this joint didn't rise at all. Kay's Place earned two stars because of the friendly and attentive wait staff. I started with a Cobb salad that seemed to lack proper toppings and portions. Albeit, it was a large serving it was underwhelming with flavor, lacked imagination and the chicken dried more and more each bite. This Cobb salad needs work, more blue cheese crumbles, tomato and bacon. For dinner, I made the mistake of ordering the "hand cut" Delmonico, decently seasoned and cooked to my liking. Although the meat seemed tough. The broccoli was likely frozen, microwaved and un-seasoned. The baked potato was fine. If you're starving on the road, Kay's place could provide salvation. Went here for lunch off a recommendation. Very close to the highway so I can see it's an easy off and on the highway. Very pleasantly surprised. On a Saturday afternoon it had a pretty healthy flow of customers. We sat in a booth and got our menue's. In the COVID era things looked clean and sanitized plus chairs were well apart. Menu is vast. Lots of full entree type meals and tons of variety. I was just looking at lunch so I honed in on the salad sandwiches; tuna, chicken and egg. All have onions so if your not a fan just know that. My partner is not a fan so we always ask. I got the egg salad, it had lettuce and tomato with the homemade chips. Not bad. Nice lunch. The homemade chips are wonderful. That's a 10! My partner got the BLT with the homemade chips. She enjoyed. We topped it off with a piece of peanut butter and chocolate pie. We don't always get dessert but the pies looked amazing and they were very popular! Lots of parking. Prices are reasonable. Staff was very friendly and nice. Honestly no issues that I can see. It was greasy, fatty and quite frankly the worse steak I've ever had, I should have ordered a Salisbury steak and I'm sure it would have been better. I'm not sure if it's the cooks or just the same cook on different days but 8/10 that we've been here the food is disgusting. Old and just not tasty. Doesn't look like much from the outside (actually just looks like a house from the outside), but has a great honey diner feel to it on the inside. Very friendly staff, especially the one young girl working there when we went. Their menu is surprisingly large and diverse. The portions here are quite large, and most dishes come with a couple decently sized sides. Overall the taste as good as well, although I just did not really like the gravy with the shaved beef. However that just comes down to personal preference I guess. Had a couple other dishes, like the spaghetti and meatballs, and they were fine. In terms of food quality, nothing to write home about, but nothing bad either. This place is ideal if you are around here and do not want to stop at a fast food place. read more
