The staff was really nice. One waitress was kind enough to bring us onto the patio and take group pictures of the bachelorette party by the water. Food was good, service was fine and we were enjoying our evening. Then the whole experience was ruined when we had to pay our bill. I used the machine to pay by card which 98% of people do. The first option was tipping and the lowest option available was 18%. I didn't feel the service deserved 18% but no big deal. The next screen revealed that I was getting charged an extra 3% for paying by card! This is the first restaurant I have ever been to that charged extra for paying your bill. It was a windy cold dark night in the Blue Mountains. After several unsuccessful attempts to find a table at nearby restaurants, we thought we were fortunate to be seated. Little did we know that our eardrums would be assaulted. Unfortunately, it became apparent that we chose the wrong evening to dine here as the restaurant played host to what appeared to be 2 or 3 bachelorette parties of screaming drunk women. After receiving relatively flat sodas, we had an assortment of late night menu bites. I had the poutine with pulled pork, which was probably the only dish I really somewhat liked and finished. The pierogies were ok (but could use somewhat more flavor). The bacon cheddar burger was dry without condiments and left a bitter aftertaste. The cauliflower bites tasted not fresh and freshly thawed. The chips and salsa were ok and fairly standard. Overall, the food was only ok. However, we could not get out of there fast enough once the DJ took the soundstage and the drunken bachelorettes took to the dance floor as the restaurant transitioned into a nightclub during our meal. Like many I was attracted to the outdoor patio and decided to check it out. It's a fairly large restaurant indoor and out. It was also busy, full of bachelor and bachelorette parties so yes it did get very loud at items but the restaurant cannot be blamed for it. Calamari: delicious, it comes with the sauce which was so tasty that we had to get some more. Butter chicken: I was well aware that this would not be authentic but I wanted to try it. The best way to explain it was this tasted more like chicken tikka masala than butter chicken but it was enjoyable The naan was warm. Avonlea fettuccine primavera: not my favorite, we did add chicken to the pasta and they were generous with the portions but it just lacked flavor. Honestly loved this restaurant. We came here on our first day at Blue Mountain. We enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich, the strip steak, spinach dip. For drinks we had, blue mountini, pomegranate mule, mango mojito. The pulled pork came with a generous portion of meat, the strip steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and served with a heaping of mashed potatoes. The spinach was delicious as well! My favourite drink of all that we ordered was the mango mojito. The fresh mango juice really made a difference. The pomegranate mule had a great ginger beer taste. The blue mountini wasn't my favourite, but I think it's because I'm not a huge fan of lychee liquor and rum. Overall, great place to come to at night if you want a nice patio view. There was also live music when we went and it was perfect way to end the night. Remember to make a reservation before you go! 10/10 would come again. read more

We couldn't tell what kind of cuisine Kaytoo would be walking around Blue but early closures of other places made a decision for us. Kaytoo is Canadian and comfort cuisine! Think things like tourtieres and locally sourced oven roasted chicken. It sits right next to the pond/lake on the property so if you're here in nicer weather and during the day, you can sit on the patio here. There are also garage type doors that open up for fresh air too. We sat next to the doors which were closed at night in autumn. It can get a little drafty here just as an FYI. The food we had was pretty phenomenal. They were mostly Fall specials. Mine was a honey ham with a side of perfectly cooked garlic mash. For dessert, they had apple "pie-rogies". They were tiny apple pies which essentially were the same size and shape as a perogy! These were pretty amazing and highly recommend if they find their way back on the menu. read more

The server apologized and said the kitchen was short-staffed. We were in the area for a staycation, after a trip to the Scandinave Spa. A lot of restaurants in the area close early and when we got out around 8, we were looking for something that was still open. We decided to venture to Blue Mountain Village, since Kaytoo was an option that opened later (I think it becomes some sort of club after a certain time). We had gotten seated, still before the late night menu was implemented so let me tell you what's up. We both ordered drinks to start, for $14 each as pictured. Was taken back by how empty the keto drink was. The Caesar was fine, but I didn't see any difference between this maple bacon Caesar and any other regular Caesar. To start, we had the mozzarella sticks and French onion soup. The soup was fine, but the mozzarella sticks for $13, I expected them to be less frozen from a box type. My friend had the "jerk chicken", based off of a review that it was to die for but keeping in mind this place probably wouldn't be authentic jerk. It came with a pineapple mango slaw, which was nice. But in terms of it being jerk chicken, it was more like slightly seasoned chicken. Very disappointing, especially for $28 in which you get maybe 4oz of chicken and not much flavour. Overall, it was pretty bland and probably shouldn't be advertised as jerk chicken. We agreed, probably also our mistake for having expectations for the jerk chicken here. I had the charcuterie board for another $28. Upon looking, it's cute. Right? Until I realized they literally just took sliced cheddar and swiss and added that to the board. Now, there aren't many ways to mess up a charcuterie board but for this price, there's a higher expectation than packaged slice cheese. They are pretty generous with everything else, but I think the cheese is a pretty important aspect of a charcuterie board. The service was good, the hostess was so nice and our server was amazing. As somebody who frequently dines out in Toronto, these prices weren't anything to cringe it but the quality of the food was. A-OK is probably the best way to describe Kaytoo. This was my teams second time coming to Blue Mountain for a conference, so I decided to book us in at Kaytoo since we had missed it last time. It's like a little ski lodge which was cute inside, I'd like to revisit in the winter (instead of Autumn) to see what the vibe is like. I wasn't too fussed about the drink menu, so I requested a chocolate martini and they made me a great one (with cherry included!). I ordered the strip loin for dinner, and it was decent. Slightly overcooked, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. The restaurant was able to handle our large group quite nicely, although some complained that the service was a little slow - more noticeable since our group were the only ones in the place, but we weren't in a rush. The servers were great - friendly and accommodating, I would give this place another shot for sure. read more

My partner and I took a day trip to Blue Mountain recently and decided to dine at Kaytoo as we saw they had a beautiful waterside patio. Service was attentive and friendly. We ordered the kaytoo brgr and calamari. The batter was light and airy and the squid itself was tender; not rubbery at all. Tasted great with the spicy mayo and micro greens. The burger, on the other hand, was quite disappointing. The menu stated that this particular burger was what made them famous, and also promised a smashed ground sirloin patty. What we got instead was definitely not a smash patty - it was actually quite thick and dry. The burger reminded me of something I'd get at a community BBQ - very middle-of-the-road, and certainly not the type of burger I'd consider restaurant quality. read more

I came in with a blind eye and didn't read any reviews. I think because it is a low season the staffing was short which is understandable. We had calamari as an appetizer. The breading was good and the sizes of the squid was appropriate but the portion was small. Moving on I was then disappointed about the price of the burger I got which is called Monster Mountain Burger which composed of shaved prime rib topped with Collingwood whisky maple BBQ, horseradish aioli shredded romaine, tomato, slaw & fries. So.. I don't think it is worth $21. In my mind I thought the slaw and fries were on the side. Clearly I misunderstood. Everything listed is in the sandwich. The taste isn't great... wish it was as I tried to convince myself its good but honestly... no. My partner has the bacon cheeseburger and he said it was good but it wasn't worth the price for $22 which he said isn't as good as other fast food joints like Wendy's. At this point there're other people walking upto the front desk to ask about wait time and the front desk guy told them it's 40 minutes wait time when in fact there're lots of empty tables! Finally we got seated and we waited 10 minutes and no server came to serve us! I told my family what I saw and heard outside the restaurant and we decided to leave as this restaurant is absolutely horrible! We went to another restaurant close by and while we're waiting my husband told the people waiting behind us the terrible service we got from Kaytoo. We waited only 5 minutes here before the hostess seated us to a table. And the waitress bought us water soon after we got seated. What a difference the service we got from here! 13 people, no reservation because we thought most places are walk-in only here at the Blue Mountain Village, zero expectations...it really wasn't that bad! It's far from good and in all normal instances I would feel like I'm writing about your neighborhood Swiss Chalet or Tim Hortons, but since it's Blue Mountain there is something to be said. We had to wait for a table to be set up for us, but we were ultimately seated and the spot was comfortable. It was a chilly day (~10 degrees or so) and we were there for early dinner - people were still on the patio but it was starting to get really cold, so we sat shivering until the patio finally gave up and they could close up the patio garage doors. Service was as timely as it could be, we got a bit of sass from our waitress thinking we were another group of youngsters there to have fun (we average about 7 years over legal drinking age, but appear just 2...). Ordering took longer than desired but it would've been fine to wait had it not been so cold - a fault of layout and not the service at all. Food arrived eventually and it was okay - nothing to write home about, it wasn't exciting, but it was acceptable. It could've been much worse, and at least we didn't get turned away. Another place tried to split up the large group in some illogical manner and I'm glad it wasn't the case here. There were some other tables enjoying their drinks and it was overall a decent place to sit and eat and chat. I guess it helps it's got some terrible reviews - reduces the crowd, lowers expectations, and you end up happy with just getting food eventually that doesn't look piss poor. read more

I gotta give it up to this place, amongst the sea of really poor food and service that can be found in the Blue Mountain Village, Kaytoo actually delivers an A-OK experience, one that I would be proud to recommend. It's a cozy place on the old outskirts of the village, but given recent development one could argue it's almost smack dab in the middle. The decor is similar to that of ski lodge, very rustic, casual, and fun - a place you'd want to come hang out in after a day on the slopes. My fave design elements were the massive 360 viewable fireplace separating the bar and dining areas AND the glass garage door that opens to the pond for summer months turning the area we were seated in into a patio. I had a quiet lunch here with my DC after touring the village for a bit this past Sunday. The restaurant was empty, save for a few tables and we got a great seat near the windows overlooking people skating on the frozen Mill Pond. Our server was attentive but not in an overwhelming sort of capacity, and kept waters filled, and drinks fresh while we ate. Never too far to be summoned and never to close to be annoying - just right. To eat my DC went for an order of Pierogies and I had a warm goat cheese spinach salad (add 1 chicken breast). The taste of the pierogies was spot on, however they deep fry them instead of pan cook them so while they come out light and fluffy, that desired pan cooked taste is certainly missing. It was however served with healthy amounts of bacon, grilled onions and sour cream and chives - so overall a great meal. The warmed goat cheese and spinach salad was a perfect healthy option, and adding chicken breast was a great idea. My one reservation about the dish was I felt they did add a tad too much dressing, so if you're considering this dish, perhaps ask for light dressing, or simply on the side. My friend recommended that the views were stunning and ask for a table of 8. It turns out were ended up being a table for 9. We were separated into 3 tables ie. Table for 6 with 5 people, table of 2 and table of 4 with 2 people. I had asked to be sat at the table of 4 beside my friends since 2 more were arriving. Kail told me that it was reserved for a party of 4. Only 2 people in the end were sat there. I had asked for water with the wings ordered but was told by our server Elyse that due to Covid that they were not serving tap water and that we would have to pay for bottled water. When another table of 4 vacated next to my friends, I asked if we could move there. Elise rudely told us: "So you want us to disinfect 2 tables just for you to sit there?" I told her that I originally asked to sit next to my friends but was told by Kail that it was reserved. We ended up joining our friends the table for 4 with 1 table in between from our other friends When were received our bills, I was surprised to see gratuity added. I asked why and was told that it's added for parties of 8 or more. I asked to speak to a manager which we waited for awhile but no one came. My friend with no recourse paid the bill as is with gratuity added despite sitting at a table of 4. Service was extremely poor and full of attitude. Kail told us several time that they have mortgages to pay since re-opening after Covid. I researched the next day that it is illegal to not provide free water. Once at our table we waited a solid 10minutes before a waitress came over with four glasses of water. I asked about the lunch menu and the rude response was "the $10 menu is only specific days" and she left. As we looked through the menu one of the pages had lipstick kiss markings on the reverse from a previous patron. I went to drink my water and the rim of the glass had lemon pulp and lip smudges. Out of four glasses only one was clean. We decided to leave as we left the two waitresses watched us leave the male bartender told us to have a good day. One person ordered a salad with chicken on the side and forgot her chicken so when she got her salad we were all done. Adding chicken, steak or even TOFU to anything costs 6.75. ridiculous. I tried to get the poke bowl, and when I couldn't have it I got the fettuccine primavera. It was supposed to have basil pesto and had no pesto whatsoever. Wasn't terrible but not worth 20 dollars. Server was good though. So that's why I chose two stars. Wouldn't go back here. I would suggest trying somewhere else. Though my wife's brother likes his burger so there's that. read more

I was so amped and have been looking forward to eating here all week. The Jambalaya sounded amazing and would hit the spot after all the snowboarding. I was served raw chicken here! Kaytoo, don't dismiss me and tell me that I don't know what raw chicken is. Sure you seared it so it look like its cooked on the outside but after I ate 3 pieces wondering where my chicken was and realizing the mushy squash-like substance was the chicken in an uncooked form you lost me. I cut it open to reveal a pink stringy sickening mess. My heart dropped and my stomach churned. You lost my appetite and after an all day snowboarding venture it's pretty hard to lose that. You also lost my respect for miss manager on duty taking forever to come to my table and telling me it actually wasn't raw and the lighting just made it look like that. Don't speak to me like I've never eaten chicken before and don't pass the blame off to the consumer... EVER! You're basically telling me that I don't know what the texture or color of chicken should be. Maybe it's you, Kaytoo, that doesn't know how to run a proper restaurant and accept your faults with grace. Apologize for the error and move on like a proper restaurant should and would do. Thanks for comping my meal but I would hardly call it a meal if I was unable to eat. You should have also comped the other meal my girlfriend was eating as you made her feel ill with the little raw chicken stunt you pulled. After that when we were sited, they only had one menu for an 8 person table. Yes, 1 menu! They ran out of menus. They also didn't have enough glasses to offer us water. We waited for water glasses... Made no sense... The calamari comes with no sauce and I would strongly recommend not ordering it. It's really dry. Then, for a 20$ burger, they don't offer fries. Kaytoo is fine by me. I get it, you're in the Blue Mountain village and things are overpriced. But you're the one that decided that you wanted to be at this mini adult fun-land, so what did you really expect? Perspective, people. In this village (which is equal parts adorable and creepy) there are several restaurants, shops and bars, but as far as I could tell Kaytoo was the only one open that wasn't a mega chain. They have a huge patio that goes out over the man-made lake, with a nice view of the mountain, hotels and people on paddle boats. (Paddle boats not included in the winter months.) The food was totally fine. Perogies and salad and fish and chips were all tasty and hit the spot. The food was expensive, but the cocktails were cheaper than in Toronto. It was what it was, but the view and wise-cracking staff made this a decent experience. A-OK, even. PEPPER POINTS for the free shuttle that transfers you from the various hotels to the village. I came here on a Saturday night. It was busy, as there were 2 bachelorette parties and a bachelor party. It was also pretty late, 9pm but dinner was on the mind and nothing was going to get in my way. After a day of skiing/boarding you really want a hearty meal that will fill your stomach. The menu was vast and had a lot of selections but most were seafoods (all Canadian) or steak, not exactly what I had in mind. I ended up choosing the chicken pot pie with a chicken noodle soup, ya that's a lot of chicken. My SO had the jambalaya. we didn't wait long for our food to arrive and when it came, it was devouring time. The jambalaya looked tasty, a deep red tomato sauce with gigantic muscles and pieces of chicken and peppers. My chicken pot pie was just chicken stew in a bread bowl and the soup was the stew with less corn starch in a ceramic bowl. Bland and more bland. The chicken noodle soup was much better than the pie as the noodles are basically what made it taste good. The chicken pot pie was a little sour and didn't have a lot of taste. About 5 minutes into eating it, I had already lost my appetite. Then it came... My SO was devouring his jambalaya when I noticed (in the dim lighting) that he was staring at a piece stuck on his fork, I asked what was wrong? And he furrowed his brow staring at this piece. I said, "It's just a piece of yellow squash, what's the problem?" At least I thought it was squash since it had the solid outside and the inner part was tender and translucent colour. Boy was I wrong. It was a piece of raw chicken. Yes you read right RAW CHICKEN! I INSTANTLY lost my appetite even more so than I already had. We informed the server of the uncooked meat and she promptly took it off the bill, I don't blame her for her actions as she seemed nervous and didn't know what to do in this situation but we calmly asked for a manager to speak to. It did take a while to locate the manager but that was understandable with all the large parties in attendance. When the manager finally did come around she explained that she did in fact check the dish in the kitchen with the bright light and it was NOT raw chicken...umm YA RIGHT! If that wasn't raw chicken than my a$$ is purple! I couldn't believe that the manager was seriously standing there and not taking ownership for this, I honestly was about to blow but I just figured that I would let it go since we were trying to have a good time. But let me tell you, I will never in my life, ever go back to this restaurant again, the kicker is that they didn't even offer any dessert, I like dessert and I'm the type of person to forget things if you do a small token and if that token were in the form of free dessert, there would probably be an extra star. read more

We ventured to Blue Mountain for some snow fun. There was a large group of us (20+) and Kaytoo was the only place that would take the reservation in the village! So bonus to them for that! The manager was also very accommodating seeing as most of our group were late, but they held as many of the tables as they could. Re the food - I just had an appetizer, perogies, which were good. The food that was coming out did look good though! Best of all was $5 bottles between 4-6 and 9-11! Our server was excellent and managed to do separate tabs for each person...which given the number of us and the fact people kept moving was damn impressive! Blue Mountain Lemonade cocktail was delicious...couldn't have too many with the ingredients including vodka, rum, gin and a fourth spirit I cannot remember...for obvious reasons! Great location in Blue Mountains with friendly service. Decided to stop in here Sunday afternoon when we saw a sign outside for $5 Mimosas and Caesars. It was the perfect invitation for us four girls looking for a little Sunday Funday action. I had both a mimosa and a caesar and both were good. Plus they were actually $5 with tax according to the bill. We didn't have any food so I can't comment on that, but definitely a great place to check out and enjoy some drinks with a splendid view. read more

Kaytoo Restaurant & Bar - Sunday: $5 Mimosas and Caesars - American Near Me - Collingwood, Ontario

I'm not from Canada but was visiting friends up there couple of months ago and came upon this place. Worst mistake EVER. Service at this restaurant was horrid and the food wasn't great. We were also served undercooked meat twice in one sitting. Eat here at your own risk. I had spoken with "ERIN" (Long blond hair, Caucasian girl - YES I haven't forgotten your name!!) in a calm manner and she was not apologetic or displayed any reaction about the raw food. When we got the new plate and called her about the food once again being raw, she was extremely defensive and had a terrible attitude. This was our first trip to Canada and this had spoiled our experience that day. Had I known that I could read/review Yelp for Canada earlier I would have checked beforehand to see all of these negative reviews. Lesson learned. read more
