I was promptly seated. My drink order was taken immediately. My food came out fast, was fresh, and homemade. The tempura, sushi, and bento box were all delicious. I was impressed with the ingredient quality, the spicy tuna roll was real whole pieces of quality fatty tuna, not that ground up junk you normally see. OHHH MMMMYYY GOSH! What a fantastic fine in this country town. The tuna poke bowl was FABULOUS! The wait staff and hostess were very nice, friendly and attentive. The restaurant has nice music playing which isn't so loud that you couldn't have a good conversation. I came at a weird time - 3pm, so it wasn't crowded at all. I've eaten in China town in DC and this place rivals those restaurants as well. I look forward to trying their sushi and everything else on their menu! read more

It was my first time there and I really enjoyed my friend kept talking about it in today we hangout and I LOVE IT will recommend!!! It was very fresh inside and the spartan rolls was very delicious and if you want a sugary drink for yourself get the strawberry boba with brown sugar pearls!! And for the dessert you should try the donut, it has powdered sugar with the side of icing!!! So far 10/10 will come back!! read more

It's quite fun down with old dining furniture. Hosts are a bit clueless on capacity and seating. We were seated by the blocked for where there was no room for a table but they made it fit. Tables and seats are sticky. We weren't offered any water, only given what we ordered which was two beers. We ordered the Nigiri dinner and sashimi dinner. Sushi rice was on point! However, some of the fish were a bit fishy. After eating the scallop and squid, our stomach started to turn. We ate what we could, paid and left. This place isn't big enough for group dining. The staffs are friendly but we had too many waitresses coming back n forth at our table. It is also a given to offer customers water regardless of they order other drinks. Restaurant needs quite a bit of renovation. Will we return? Probably not. Not worth the 45 min drive for a stomachache. read more

We tried that new asain bistro in Sparta last night. 2 stars. The sushi rice was cooked and cooked again and not rinsed. It was starchy, chewy and way too thick on the rolls. The spicy mayo had an "off" flavor. Edible but not good. 2 stars We also got the chicken hibachi meal. All ingredients were obviously frozen. Meat had a synthetic tasting, canned brown gooze poured over. The rice, veggies, and noodles were all from frozen with more "off" taste. While driving home I said "If Hungry Man made a hibachi frozen dinner, it would have tasted better than this." I only needed one bite of chicken, one bite of rice and one small piece of broccoli to understand that I wouldn't eat anymore. 0 stars Our meal also came out in waves. First gyoza and one roll. 5 minutes later another roll. 5 more minutes later the next roll. Then 10 minutes later the "hibachi" chicken meal. The pan fried gyoza were the best at 3 stars. The server noticed that we didn't eat more than 20% of the hibachi meal but didn't seem surprised when we didn't want a to-go box. Hubby said his beer was cold. That was his best compliment. 5 atars Our server seemed green but was mostly friendly. We really wanted to like it but frozen, microwaved food isn't what we want from a restaurant. read more

Went and visited on a Friday night as it was recommended by a friend. Ordered sushi first. Have never had sushi cooked in tempura batter. Batter was thick and overdone. Sushi alternated between cold and hot depending on the bite. Just not good. Way too much batter. Had teppanaki. Salad had WAY too much dressing, and was just not great. Wonton soup had floaty rice bits that tasted stale. Wonton was underdone and tasted like it was bought at a grocery store and microwaved. My steak was overdone, the noodles were dry, but greasy, like they were reheated. Rice was almost smoky flavored, and not great tasting. Veggies were the only thing that was ok. Even my shrimp was overseasoned and small. Not the worst food, but it's definitely not good. read more

My wife and I visited Kazuko Bistro today. What a wonderful experience. The Bulgogi bento was great. I hadn't had good bulgogi since I left Korea in the 70's. The kimchee was fresh, and the stir fried vegetables were cooked perfectly. The service was on point. The waitress was attentive without hovering. The bistro is bright and welcoming. The atmosphere is very lacking and doesn't really give a great vibe. The waitstaff did not know what the ingredients were in gyudon... when asked if there were onions in it he said no, but there was. The gyudon was from a premade boil in a bag package. I would not recommend it if you have had the real stuff. Overall the other dishes that we ordered were over priced and lacking flavor. My wife made me stop at Taco Bell, so that should tell you something. Also our waiter was slow on checking on how things tasted and if we needed anything. I am being nice about this but overall POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

This is the 1st time I've ever written a review about a restaurant, but I'm hoping someone reads this and makes the wise decision not to go here. I will never eat there again. We went because we had been looking forward to ramen at the other place a block away, but unfortunately they were closed between 2:30-4. We saw this place had ramen, and sushi, so gave it a try. There were 8 of us, and every, single thing was incredibly underwhelming. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, almost all of them were deep fried in tempura batter, not fresh tasting at all. The ramen was disgusting. Taste was bad, texture was bad, nothing about it was good. I've never had a curry I didn't like, until here. The tempura Udon bowl literally came as a plate of deep fried food with a bowl of Udon noodles in a water broth next to it. Nothing seemed to go well together, there was very little flavor, all bland. Going here was a huge regret, that came with a huge price tag for the 8 of us too. Never again. read more

I recently had the privilege of volunteering to help in the kitchen at Sparta Show Choir Competition, Meadowview Middle School. While I was working, I noticed a tasty dish of small moist morsels with dipping sauce, that everyone was scooping up quickly. Kitchen staff was calling them "Pot Stickers", and they were wonderfully delicious. In fact, in a short period of time the large pan of "Pot Stickers" was empty, and lots of people were requesting more. In a short, while another large pan of "Pot Stickers" appeared, carried by chef AJ from Kazoku Bistro, in Sparta. Knowing AJ myself, I now realized these delicious mini bites were from Kazoku Bistro. When I asked my wife about them, she smiled and said, "Yes, they are Gyoza, from the Bistro." So, fearing I would not be able to find them again, I now know where I can get them. If you had them at the Show Choir Competition, you know how delicious they are. If you haven't, they are truly worth trying. read more
